My Grandad and Dad both now departed from us loved Thursford . As a young boy I can still remember them talking to Mr Cushing whilst he played an LP recording of the organs in his yard and uncovered many steam engines to show them to us. This was around 50 plus years ago. May they all rest in peace and enjoy the organs and steam engines all over again. Sleep tight my Dad.
Just Magic ! Some cheerful music on a wet morning. Thank you for posting. Quick technical question. What are the "sticks" with the white tips that stick out directly under the centre of the music stand for ? One seems to move up & down all by itself. I'm quessing its either a wind chamber pressure indicator, or shows the position of the swell pedal. Stay safe & keep playing !
Love it !! Clearly inspired by Reginald Dixon and a fan of his ... Is this Organ still running on it's original Relays ect? Has it had any modifications like the Blackpool Tower Ballroom Organ has?
+Paul John Purnell It's still running on it's original relays, the only modifications have been the addition of the piano and the quint and tierce couplers.
That's good, I regard Piano Attachment's and Couplers to be "Original" .... I'm just not too keen on the idea of parts of the Console and Organ being replaced with electronic alternatives ..... In regard to the Tower Organ, if The Ballrooms PA System is turned off would that mean no Piano? As I understand that the Piano on that is an Electronic Module .... So, say for practicing when the Ballroom is closed would whoever is practicing have to go to the trouble of turning the PA on ? ect ...
@@PaulJohnPurnell My apologies for taking so long to reply! Yes, the piano at the tower is a midi unit which relies on the P.A to be turned on, sadly. I miss the effect the old acoustic piano had, it was a big part of the sound.
@@OrganMusicYT The old piano is still backstage, but looks to be in pretty poor shape. Last time I saw it I could see a lot of the solenoids and wiring hanging haphazardly out of the bottom of it.
@@djsherz I'm not surprised. It most likely will never be used again. It's not seen as necessary as there are digital replacements. That said, the piano was never original to the organ, it was a replacement for the original piano.
I very much enjoyed this, and big thank you.

Great job Cameron!!
My Uncle used to Play the Fisher 4/34 Wurlitzer at the Fisher Theatre in the 40's What an instrument!- still plays to this day.
On original relays with the re-it master xylophone still, isn’t it? Even cooler!
Brilliant Cameron, Love it.
Such a great, fantastic relaxed way of playing.
Ian Mizon I'll pass it on to him!
Tbh that organ puts you at ease, it almost plays itself, it's fantastic!
Excellent! Thanks for showing.
Great stuff Cameron. The big 3/19 suits your style very well.Nice to hear someone other than Robert at it.

the only organ i have heard that seems to have the same sound as the tower wurlitzer?
It sounds quite different from the tower organ, though, using "Tower" registrations you can get a similar sound. Thursford has it's own unique sound.
Remember it IS a WurliTzer
It's a larger organ than the one in Blackpool, 5 ranks larger, and is one of the five largest in Europe.
