Very good review. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
Thanks for watching Mr. P!!!
It's the infamous Mr. P! Cheers!
Watched your review while wearing my orange Erebus Origin! You're right about the silvery tone. In bright light, the orange has a pearlescent shine to it. And I think you undersold the AR coating. At some angles, the crystal disappears completely. You can really tell this watch was designed by an enthusiast.
Thanks for watching!
My orange is due Friday as a late Christmas gift. Let my family pick the color.
Wearing my orange dial Erebus Origin too. I guess we all got the memo!
I literally can’t stop playing with the bezel. It’s so good!
Yes the bezel lines up perfectly. And the bracelet is extremely comfortable.
You hit all the points I wanted in an easy to listen to format. Well done.
Thanks for watching!
My blue one arrived yesterday and I'm very impressed with it. Can't wait to see what's next from Jody and Steve.
Enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Just received mine and concur with your comments. My only moan would be that the hour markings at 1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11 are quite small leaving a lot of space on the dial. Just a tad bigger and it would help I think. That said it's a cracking watch and hard to fault.
Agreed!
Just unboxed my Erebus-it’s a tremendous watch
Enjoy it!!
I have a purple one coming my way. Thanks for the review, the white one looks great too. Can't wait for mine 😊
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Don't normally like white dials ,but this for some reason I do like(Jody's put a watch spell on me) and seeing I haven't a white dial in my collection I think I might get this watch. Cheers on a great review.
Thanks for watching! It's a great watch!
advertised as 'white', but it has this shine to it (looks like all of the colours do!) that makes it look either neon white or silver, or a bit 'bone white', depending on the surrounding light. I am wearing the watch for the last 24h. Tested both the bracelet (flat links) and the silicone straps. this watch on the bracelet is surprisingly heavy and made me constantly conscious of it's presence on my wrist. When I switched to the silicone straps, the watch pretty much disappeared - I'm more conscious of the apple watch on my other wrist (it's not a watch, it's a health tracker :) I take it off as soon as I hit my daily movement goals :))
Thanks for your comment! Definitely more of a shimmery silver tone to the dial. At times it looks totally matte white, especially in photos. Very interesting.
Regarding the top-heavy nature of the watch, someone suggested swapping an additional link to the 6'oclock side of the bracelet and that really helped the weight distribution on the bracelet for me. I love the way it wears.
Great video! My Purple on curved link bracelet and black strap pack arrived Friday 16th around 11am Australian Eastern Standard Time, I loved it so much I ordered a red one on the flat link bracelet (to complete the bracelet set and have options). That one arrived Tuesday 20th around 1pm. I think I like the red even better, but I think overall I prefer the comfort of the curved link bracelet, but the way the flat links facets catch the light is mesmerising, makes for a great wrist roll! Of the straps in the pack, my pick is the silicone, so soft and supple and looks amazing! Thanks for the video friend!
Hard to pick just one color! I debated between Black, Blue and White for a while! I don't have many white dials and I liked how the white and orange accents look on this piece. I'll have to check out the flat link bracelet someday.
Enjoy your watches!! Sounds like they shipped quick! Thanks for watching!
@@gadgetbeaconhelps that I’m only a 12 hour or so drive away from Sydney so after the ship express with Australia Post it is usually overnight or two business days maximum for delivery ;) I have over 80 watches in my collection, a few whites in there, tons of blue and black so for this release, colours were key for me 😊
@@thetattedpharmacist3215I’ve got my eyes on the red one.. is it truly as red on wrist as it is in the photos? Or is it a lighter shade than shown?
@@dannyboy080487it’s bright, bright red. In some lights almost on the edge of a an orange-red but not quite. Just super bright red
Great review. I see a nice clean, litter-free dial as a plus. I’ve subscribed. Many thanks 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely. I plan to smooth the edges with a nail polisher/buffer. 😊
Keep us updated!
Looks like a Zelos with a San Martin clasp, nice.
It looks like you need to swap a link from the 6 o'clock side to the 12 o'clock. That will probably help the watch head sit flatter on your wrist and feel less top-heavy and be less likely to want to roll.
The watch seems nicely executed, but the design didn't differ enough from any of the watches in my current collection to make me want to pull the trigger.
I did that after recording, good eye!!
Congrats on getting the Erebus. It's a lovely looking watch. Also, considering that you've only have 30 videos and you've already past 1k subs, that's a huge achievement! Well done! Your channel is going to go far!
Thank you kindly! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great unboxing and review. I also have a white (H Link), and I also was “pleasantly surprised” that the dial was more silver than white. I, however still believe the hands are too thick. It’s not so prominent on the white dial (which is why I got it). On the darker dials, the white hands with white outlines I believe are too thick. With that said, the watch is brilliant (in any color). Thanks again! (Edit - I wrote “black hands” when I meant to write “white hands).
I think the hands are nice and bold and proportional to the large dial, but I’m mixed on the silver aspects
@@gadgetbeacon I hear you. It’s a terrific watch. But it can use some changes. I think you’re right about the dial being a little empty. Maybe larger indices?
Really good review, thank you ..I love Jody and Stevens attention to detail on their first watch, quick release bracelet, on the fly adjustment etc etc. It's not to my taste but I can't wait to see what they come up with in the future.
Thanks for watching!
A lot have complained that the watch is more silver than white. They have now amended the website to state it’s white/silver. I went for the black and am. Try pleased.
Interesting!! Thanks for watching!
I agree with your take on the color options. I purchased the blue and love it after some movement regulation, but I can't wait for future Erebus options to add a black and maybe a green dial, Jody?!
An Erebus HULK!! Thanks for watching!
I agree a 38mm version would look on point, perhaps JOMW will be listening and sort us out.
Thanks for watching! I understand the appeal of a 41mm but I tend to think 38 or 39mm is the sweet spot.
Great in depth review! Mine in blue will arrive this Friday in Canada, looking forward to wear it, and compare to the rest of my collection. I will have fun to compare it with Helm, Marathon, and even a NTH I have. There are so many elements from other piece, not a knock on the watch, but it is picking up all the goods from other brands and bring it together. 🙂
What was the total charge for getting to Canada imports and all ?
@@vanditpandya2982 $515, including the strap pack I think. There might be some duties, we will see this week, haven't got any notice to pay yet. It shouldn't be that much
Thanks for watching!
@@clarkshiao6500 tax and duties on mine cost $41, FYI.
@@clarkshiao6500thank you 😊
I've put mine on one of the rubber straps at the moment. Like you I think the black rubber compliments the watch very well.
Thanks for watching!
That actually looks like a lovely watch!. He's done really well putting that together.
Thanks for watching!
I love mine, the blue version, and it's one of my favorites
The blue looked so good, I strongly debated getting that color. Thanks for watching!
Nice unboxing mate! A well balanced viewpoint. Good job👍👍
Thanks!!! Love your channel!
@@gadgetbeacon Thanks man, I appreciate that, just subbed to yours!
I just got mine in on the 19th as well. I went with the Im calling it “mint blue” and its a great watch. I agree with there is too much empty space on the dial but not a deal breaker. The case back is a bit rough, but that’s about all the faults I can think of. Bezel action and lume is right on.
Thanks for watching! I can’t wait to see some of the other color options pop up on UA-cam!
If/when there’s a 38 or 39mm version, I’m all over it. I had to hold off on this because it’s just out of my prefered size
Totally fair!
Dark blue, here, received yesterday. I do like the empty dial space, though, as it gives it some minimalist flair.
As I was rewatching the video I was kicking myself for not mentioning the minimalism of the dial! Thanks for watching!
all colors r so good but this is the most unique love that silvery white
Thanks for watching!
When I saw the colour reveal last year I immediately liked the white as my favourite. I thought it was going to be a full lume dial. If Jody and Steven released this in a full lume my money is flying out my credit card. 😂
That would be fantastic!
Nice Pro review ; )
I completely didn't notice there was a second watch slot in that box!
Liked your videos as well! Enjoy the watch!
Great video
Looks like a great watch
The on the fly clasp is identical to the San Martin
Interesting! I'll have to check out San Martin one of these days, thanks for watching!
I have the red sail coming this week.
my blue dial one in on its way
i hardly wait to see
thans for the video!
Enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Huge fan of Jody, nice watch I think...
Thanks for watching!
“That is lume” - lol. It did look cool lit up
My white dial shipped today. 😊
Let me know what you think once you have it! Thanks for watching!
Nice watch, good review.
Thank you!
did you find the bottom of the case and bracelet a bit sharp? mine is uncomfortably sharp at times....its only been a couple of days and I dig it, but the case/bracelet feels a bit unfinished
Edit to say: I completely appreciate that Jody's produced an incredible watch for the price, but my Helm Komodo came in for less and the machining is smooth-as, so I don't think I'm out of order expecting something similar....either way I'll always support the microbrrands, cheers
Which portion specifically are you finding sharp? Just curious, I haven’t had that experience so far but I can try to pay more attention to it tomorrow
@locobenno9435 I absolutely agree with you -- in fact, I emailed Jody to say the very same thing. I have the black dial and H-link bracelet, and while I gave the watch 10/10 for everything else considering the price point, i did say I found the edges of the bracelet links very sharp and needed 'rounding off'. Ditto with the Erebus logo on the caseback. He had the decency to email me back to say my comments about the bracelet had been noted.
@@coopdivi yep I have the same model, I'll drop Jody an email as well to let him know.... @gadgetbeacon the sharp parts are the bottom edges of the case, especially towards the lugs, and the bottom edges of the bracelet
The pain! I'm still waiting for my teal on flat links.
Oh man, that lume. Incredible.
As for the empty space. I think it looks great. Not a big fan of over texted watch faces. Citizen does this to the extreme and it just comes off as tacky.
I hope their follow up watches keep the quality as well as affordability.
Thanks for watching!
Should I get this or the limited edition sekio padi diver, the blue face blue bezel one. I dont have a diver and the bezel action and possibly alignment are better on this then the sekio (i see its a bit of a running joke about how sometimes the bezel alignment is off on sekio's) plus the lume on the bezel of this is very striking to me. This is classier and more of a everyday nice beater and the sekio is definitely a more showy shiny watch but still a everyday watch as ill be using it as that. Which would you pick?
Whichever one speaks to you is the one I’d get. Outside of size and how it wears, it’s all personal preference
Happy to run across this review since I'm awaiting delivery of the exact model from Erebus. Only makes me more anxious to get my hands on mine.
Hope you enjoy it, I haven't taken this watch off since I filmed this! Thanks for watching!
Good review of a very nice first outing. Are the straps vulcanized rubber, caoutchouc (natural rubber), or FKM?
FKM!
@@gadgetbeacon, thank you.
I must have gotten a poorly finished bracelet, since I’ve not seen any similar comments, but mine has the sharpest edges I’ve ever owned. Otherwise it’s excellent.
Do you think it's something that could be smoothed out with a polisher or something?
wonder if any people in the UK received a customs charge through DHL. i had the pay 82 pounds in duty for the watch to be delivered. DHL actually earned 11 pounds of this money and its only DHL that do this. i have received parcels from all over the world and no customs charges until its delivered by DHL.
I've heard that it can be more expensive to import into the UK for whatever reason, I think it's 2.5% import duty charge
I'm not from the uk but DHL , FedEx and such always charged me fees that our normal national postal service never did.
A review with a "moans and niggles" section for Jody's watch seems entirely on brand.
Wonder if this wears well with a leather strap and the white dial
Divers on leather is a divisive topic, in general most divers should be on rubber or bracelet
Mine is scheduled to arrive in a few days. I can’t wait to wear it.
Enjoy it!!
Killer video
💪
What is your wrist diameter? Thanks!
At the time of filming 6 7/8” or 17.46cm
a bigger indexes will fill the empty space on the dial.
Maybe! Would be easy to go too big on them as well
@@gadgetbeacon that's the only thing that held me back from buying. indexes is too small. since it looks like Helm vanuatu they should've copied the size of the indexes.
anyhow I'll just wait for second iteration.
does that bracelet pull hairs?
Not in my experience so far!
Thanks@@gadgetbeacon . Mine arrived today and it wears well :)
Actually I take it back, wearing mine for 2 days now and had many occasions of pulling hair. It's on rubber now
Just another dive watch. If it wasn't made by our favourite australian, nobody would notice it.
Favourite Scot
Favorite scotralian.
@@Wonky-Donkey Thanks for that. I now have the image in my head of a kangaroo jumping around the bush wearing a kilt.
@Scout-nj7xj that's better than an image of a drunk Scotsman playing the Didgeridoo with his ass.
Thanks for watching!
Nice Helm
More color options!
I think you're dead on. Great specs. But that dial is a snooze for me. Just too generic. Too safe. But at 299, a great way to support Jody if it's your thing. Certainly a qulity piece.
I'm a sucker for wave dials like you'd find on an Omega, so sometimes it's hard to switch to other dive watches that have a more plain dial face. Thanks for watching!
I thought it was a boring dial at first too. But it has grown on me and now I appreciate its simplicity. And the legibility is outstanding. Dial legibility is super important to me. Also just how well made it is, and how comfortable it is, sort of makes up for the simple dial, imo. The watch makes me want to go scuba diving lol. 😊
What is this 😯
A microbrand dive watch! :)
@@gadgetbeacon
Never heard of this brand
...looks like a clone of the Phoibos LEVIATHAN or a Helm Vanuatu... meh 👎🤣
And the movement: NH35 in 2024? NO! I want to see a Miyota 9015/9039 - thats the "minimum" i expect today...
Oh - and a "flat" cristal? Cmon Jody!
I do love a good Miyota 9000 series! But at this price, I’m fine with the NH35. The flat crystal is just a personal preference thing IMO. Are there many $350 watches with a miyota 9015? I think most are closer to $500 but I could be wrong
Thats right - watches with the 9015 are (normally) more expensive.
But 350.- for a watch with a NH35 AND THEN 20% import sales tax + shipping is way to high.
A good watch with an Miyota 9011 is the Citizen NB1050 for € 400.- ($ 431.- tax included)
@Zonediver Three disadvantages of the Miyota 9015/9039 v. Seiko NH35A: 1. Cost 2. Only winds in one direction 3. Higher beat means more frequent servicing needed. Remember this is meant to be a tool watch, and the NH35 has proved itself to be tough, hardy and accurate when regulated properly. And what's wrong with a flat sapphire crystal? It does the job, is less likely to hit something, and suits the tool nature of the watch's design. In this instance, I definitely prefer it to a domed sapphire crystal. And yes, I have this watch.
Great points. I think domed sapphire might have marginally increased the perceived value/quality of the watch a bit, but I personally have no preference against flat crystal and I think that combined with the AR coating it looks fantastic. @@coopdivi
