What's a good lighter out there that has a dual action soft flame and torch system? The only one I know of is the ST dupont le grand but that thing costs like $1500
There are a few but unknown brand. Dual flame lighters were 10 years ago and I wish there were more but the general public have no patience so they use torches to light. Plus EDC guys like to carry torches. The lighter industry changed. I still prefer soft flame.
Have had the original Defi extreme daily user for 6 yrs heavy use and still to this sparks no problem. Just needs a good cleaning. Picked up the black on black Defi xxtreme 2weeks ago. So far so good. Oh and I also found that if you Center the ignition wire in between both burners and press it slightly down very slightly mine lights every time first try.
I've fixed a ton of lighters. I'm willing to bet that the flame adjustment wheel needs to be adjusted. Take it off and there will be a governor that prevents you from turning it up too high. Adjust that up a bit and it should work better. Whether the lighter is $4 or $400, it's all the same tech. Material quality may differ, but a torch is just a torch.
I have a Dupont Big D or Biggy, and it does the same thing. You have to click it once to prime it, and then one more time to light it if it has been sitting. The one thing I didn't realize about the Defi lighters, is that it uses Propane/Butane combination, (Red Gas) from Dupont so it's supposed to be more wind durable, I also love the fuel level window. I just hate the small flame area on it, that's why I went with the biggie.
You forgot to mention that it is Made In China and it is not worth the money. I know that because I have used many Dupont torch lighters for 20 years now and they are getting worst through the years. What usually happens is the piezoelectric stops working. The Xtreme and its shroud which breaks easely, awefull. I would recommend the MaxiJet instead. They last much longer! PEACE
Not forgetting that it only has a two year warranty. Screw that, I’ll stick with XIKAR lighters, although I am on the lookout for a 80s/90s Gatsby or Ligne 2
Tell me what does this $400 lighter can do that my $50 Jetline Mongoose with punch cutter included can’t do? This lighter is for people that like to boast, it’s not even that good of a lighter, specially for the price. Xicar and Colibrí have way better looking and better quality lighters than this one and for a quarter of the price of this
Tactical? Lol as a former person paid to do "tactical" things in my younger days... A tactical lighter is no lighter. This thing breaks every aspect of light/noise discipline. Regardless, it's a ridiculous poor performing torch for that price
Everyone is raving about the design. I personally think it’s hideous. As far as luxury EDC carry goes, I have yet to see anyone make a good looking, well made lighter.
This thing is ridiculously overpriced. .at that price point I better get a light on the first click every time and a damn lid. Not to mention you are stuck buying their crazy priced fuel and that's just a no go for me . This lighter is not worth it considering you can get incredible lighters for 1/8 the cost of this one.
Loks very cheap, average torch, flame adjuster that only turns half way - and only works to a quarter, no lid, doesn’t light first time, flickering flame. And a $400 price tag??
When it fails to ignite on the first attempt because it's been sitting, give it one or two flicks of the wrist. It'll ignite. Nonetheless, not what you'd expect at that price-point, and it should be better.
I have returned 8 (!) of these bad quality lighters back to the Seller until find one that worked, as they were failing to ignite just out of the box! This is unacceptable for an expensive line of lighters from ST Dupont. The product is made in China, however the quality of the materials is definitely not worth the price these are sold! To me, ST Dupont are just creating themselves a very bad reputation selling these lighters! They either need to lower their prices 10 times down and that way match with the quality of the materials used in these products, or source better materials building these horrible lighters.

$398?!?! Holy shit, that’s crazy. I’d expect a much more functional product for that price. Great design though

113° is a regular summer day. Usually gets to 118°-123° here in Phoenix.
Thank you for the review, Patrick. I have seen some of these with the guilloche side area of the burners melting after time. Thankfully, mine has not.
The price is $450.00 for this lighter which is nothing special. !
Does it contain pure gold ? 🤣

Do you know how to replace flint
このブランドでこの値段で中国製という所でデュポンが格を下げた感がある。
C e l hai il DEFI XXTREME,
Common problem across all jet lighters
Looks exactly like my Colibri Rebel, but mine has a retractable lid on the jets.
Why two flames? For what purpose? It will only use gas faster.

I used to have this lighter until my douchebag friend stole it.

Is it a good lighter-yes or no?

This is a garbage lighter compared to others on the market but their Ligne 2 is the best soft flame maybe the best of all lighters.
I imagine myself lighting a cigar on top of 10.000 feet iceberg in the middle of a 40mph windstorm...how delightful...
$400? 😂🤣🤣🤣
For the price I can confirm this is a terrible lighter !
Far Cry 6 brought me here
How is that? 😄
