Having spent her twenties comfortably inert, 28 year old Megan (Keira Knightley) reaches a crisis when she finds herself squarely in adulthood with no career prospects, no particular motivation to pursue any and no one to relate to, including her high school boyfriend (Mark Webber). When he proposes, Megan panics and given an opportunity to escape - at least temporarily - she hides out in the home of her new friend, 16-year-old Annika (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Annika's world-weary single dad (Sam Rockwell).

petra katarina Yeah, but as an actress it's nice to see some diversity in her voice too. Plenty of American/British actors do that, acting out different accents you know. :/
I actually prefer her English accent. But this looks like a cute movie and its definitely different from her more sophisticated roles, so you've got a point.

Alright, so, guy here. I ended up watching this movie, and it was great. Yes, it is girly (which I'm sure for a lot of viewers will be great), but the themes throughout are what's most important. We all struggle with growing up and making big decisions about our future. Leaving aside the cliché expression, this movie really is one-of-a-kind. I highly recommend it if you are young and maybe feeling a little lost.

I can tell just from the trailer. I'm crying while writing this because I'm like "where the hell was this when I was so down and jobless, and didn't like my job and didn't know what to do with my life"
All movies with Keira Knightley in it are always masterpiece... She's so natural and her character feels so much realistic that intensifies the very meaning of the film..
Empress Khaycee I have the exact opposite feeling.... She is always so.. stiff and unnatural...
I’m just surprised she had time to do this whilst also working on Official Secrets. That’s a bloody amazing film and might very well go and watch it again. She does historical and period roles incredibly well, but we rarely get to see her in modern day placements like this.

TheSchakalify I think the director, and every single other person on this project, had a feeling they would get at least one comment like this.. sooner or later it gets old and depressing with the slumdog millionare, the blind side, captain phillips, uhhhm.. persuit of happiness, and aladdin (?) genre
I'm just like that character, wanted to be something meaningful, but ehh just don't care anymore. Hey, I'm lucky to be able to afford pizza every other day, and maybe a dog :D

Just because the character has a fortunate situation does not mean she is happy. Otherwise you would not see so many millionaire people with depression.

It's like you turn down a job or a nice guy bc you think you can do better and you end up just wasting time. Not that you should take a job you don't want or be with someone you don't like, but don't wait around for the perfect guy or a dream job to fall in your lap. That was my take on it at least.
i wish more people talked about sam rockwell here. the man has won an oscar yet he’s still being sleeped on. he deserves more recognition, he is an amazing actor. and amazing is only an understatement.
100%- while watching this film, I watched and rewatched each of his scenes 8 to 10 times. God. His INCREDIBLE micro- expressions!!

O. Bloom, her co-star in a few period pieces, had a stretch of around 6 or 7 movies where the lightbulbs, non to mention bathing reguarly, has yet to be invented.

Gabriella Susan the character emma portrayed in that movie actually had an american, bratty teenager type of accent in real life, so she did that very well.

This movie speaks to me. I hated being a teenager but being a twentysomething with not one, but two useless degrees I'm not finding it easier to navigate life. I sure as hell don't feel mature enough to be be my age. Not saying I'm gonna hide out in some teen's room, but I do kinda miss that feeling of having all the time in the world to figure shit out and the confidence, however misplaced it may be, that you will.
Alright. From a guys perspective. This actually looks worth watching.

So many unexpected twists, I am not sure I saw any of this coming... but on the plus side I genuinely feel warm and fuzzy, so all in all still a win for me, and worth my time spent on this trailer.

Just because you have an education doesn’t mean you don’t struggle with making decisions. Usually there are underlying issues people are often unaware about or just a fickle personality. Each person is unique. They say clarity comes from action not from thinking. Eventually one will discover their passion if they keep trying. Or maybe they just want to live care free.
I have a feeling that I pretty much just watched the entire film.

This movie looks amazing. We need more films like this where its not jus a guy wondering what to do with his life and hitting on girls, having a girl with a degree who doesnt' have a career job is realistic and having Sam Rockwell the cool father that she happens to fall for in a realistic living situation because she doesn't want to go back to her nothing life its more interesting just not leaving their house til a relationship forms i like this and not jus going on actual dates and stuff was different and I'm definitely sold on this film I can't wait to see this. If only it happened in real life lol. I can see something like this happening in real life now a days though especially in actual big American cities, it would never ever happen where I live because its just ugly people and bible belt thumping non liberals so chances are they're breaking into your house here for drug money and copper and wouldn't be open minded enough for sex and relationships not breaking in to get you off and fix your damaged home life and get along with your daughter but in a perfect world this is amazing. We always get the lone rough looking guy that broke out of prison or is on the run from the cops that happens to break in and fall in love with the victims but this is a more generally excepted version and it looks like an instant classic indie film with a new spin and grade a actors.

Keira without her accent... Took me a while to get use to it
I am American, and it is my viewpoint.. just because someone isn't american doesn't make their viewpoint correct, only different... same with accents... depending on where your from, what country, even certain parts of the country, or even city, you speak with a distinct accent. Someone from South Boston usually has a way of speaking that is different from someone from Lubbock, TX. Everyone speaks with an accent. Keira has an accent, influenced by her culture, family, and region of residence. If she is speaking in an American accent, then she is either using a different accent, or she is speaking without her natural accent. It is just a matter of semantics. I'm tired of people having the "that is such an American way of thinking." You knew exactly the point I was trying to make... I love watching her movies, I think she is a beautiful actress. I wasn't use to hearing her speak with an American accent. That was my whole point.. nothing else.. you knew that... but you had to use it to try to make Americans feel bad. Next time, just don't respond to any of my posts. Thanks.
