if im not too late to this comment, i reccomend maine. especially aroostook. even though it gets quite cold, the state is 89% forest, multiple types of trees, and overall a nice place to live and pursue the career.

The world needs to expand existing animal habitats on both land and in the oceans by 100x. Too much development of the land is taking away animal and natural habitats and too much fishing and netting is destroying and depleting the ocean. The human population has doubled since 1980s and it is continuing to grow out of control at a logarithmic rate. See the world population websites if you don't agree. Our planet has not grown to adjust to the human growth, so we as humans must learn how to balance our population and our dedicated land for Farming and living for humans, and habitats for animals. We must do this now before it is too late, and the passage of time and human greed erases all animal and natural habitats. Most people are narrow minded and think we can just live together however man in most all scenarios destroy habitats so there is no living together side by side. Natural and animal habitats must be protected and increased in size or the only animals we will have left are on farms and zoos.
I'm a junior studying Economics and management in the US. I have always loved the outdoors and sometimes wish I would have studied forestry or environmental sciences. Are there careers that would allow me to work outside or deal with forestry in my econ/management degree?

What if I graduated from a four-year university but in liberal arts? Can I take a certification exam online and enter that way? Long story short, the outdoors has always been my passion but I made a horrible choice in college to follow a different passion that leads to nowhere. I want to make it right and go into something where I can, as he said, be out in and care for God's creation.
It all depends on where you live- which country or state or province. In most of America you'll need a college degree. There are some 2 year forestry schools (like Paul-Smith in up state New York) but most now are 4 year (BS) degrees. Since you have a degree you could go for a masters. I know of a forester who got a BA in liberal arts- then went to Cornell in western New York state for a masters in forestry. In most states you'll need to get a license or registration to work as a "professional forester". I've been a forester in Massachusetts for 47 years. You'll get a lot of exercise and have some great moments out there but forget about making a lot of money.
@Masuma Sultana Overall, pretty good. It's a very healthy job. I've walked thousands of miles. If I had gotten a government job- I would have made more money but I didn't want to work in government or a big company so I've been a "consulting forester" for private forest owners. I've had a lot of down time due to bad weather and other reasons which gave me a lot of time to read, watch movies, travel, visit friends, etc. But I'm still working at 70 because I can't afford to retire.

What if I want to repopulate an area of the forest using polycultures and horticultural techniques? Can I get a jon that focuses on that, or do I just have to do what i'm told and harvest timber and all that other stupid shit?

How physical are forestry job?
depends, if you are working in the Alberta flats then it would obviously be pretty easy just walking around a forest all day, but if you are working the the steep Rocky mountains in BC, well then its one of the most physical jobs out there since you will be working on and climbing mountains for a living
