Mercedes-Benz W124 ignition tumbler replacement

If it's getting difficult to turn the key in the ignition to your classic Mercedes-Benz now is the time to replace your tumbler before an even greater headache ensues. This process is the same on many models of Mercedes-Benz. On the W124, which Michael demonstrates here, there is some additional trim that needs to be removed. Someone in the past tried to remove the lock not using the right tool. I am under the impression that the tab on mine might be broken or damaged by the use of brut force. What are my options? Drill the lock out?
