That is a myth 4oz gloves aren't actually harder they cause more bone and dermal damage due to smaller surface area and you can't punch as hard as the padding is less which means you are more likely to break your hands whilst boxing gloves are more padded allowing for full force and all your weight behind punches and they cover a larger surface area causing more concussive damage boxing gloves are better designed for knocking people out
