naw 1998 sucked, they took the god out of it. turning a monster movie into a human drama. toho was so insulted by it that they reclaimed the rights to the new monster, & immediately killed it on screen in final wars as soon as they could. final wars put the god part back into his character & name. no kaiju worth their salt ever gets killed by a single fighter jet missile.
