I got this book ages ago because it actually sounded like something I'd want to read. I was all for a morally gray type of character. But when I learned in the beginning she killed a boy simply because he rejected her, I was like "nope, I'm out" and dropped it. Killing someone because they reject you or aren't interested in you doesn't make you morally gray. It's how you end up on 60 minutes or Dateline for being a murderer.
The main character's clothes sounds like the ones I invented for my power fantasy characters as a teenager! Damn, the writer hasn't tried to draw her outfit I suppose.
Words like "shan't" and "fisticuffs" are just to sound old-timey and posh. They're normal words, but VERY dated. In the modern day, people mostly use those old-fashioned terms just to be funny and ironic. Unless the entire book was written like a Jane Austen, then it's very random to just throw old-timey speech in there haha. I'll bet the author read a lot of historical romance before writing this book
I haven't even read this book but I saw it all over tiktok and had it on my tbr...then I watched a girl actually explain what it was about and I was like sophie needs to read this✋😭
You are always saving us from reading these bad books. Most of the books you talk about, I had them in my TBR but after hearing you talk about them I just realize I don't want to waste my time on them haha. GILD will be an exception. I want to read it, no matter how bad it is so I won't check your video (when you make it) until I read that one hahah. You should make a video with recommendations :) I would totally read anything you say its good.
Ahh! Tysm for reading this Sophie! This video will be the highlight of my year definitely lol (Edit: finished the video- most of your problems with it were mine too! I felt so bad for Kallias having to deal with Alessandra throwing a fit over not being given attention despite him being busy, and being stood up that night he canceled his meetings to hang out with her! I also couldn’t take the men-being-lesser part. Equality is the goal and that needs to be more prevalent in ‘girlboss’-like books like these. Another wonderful video Sophie! Also, I would like to see a video in all German with English subtitles! It’s a unique approach to one of my favorite types of content ☺️ This video though, is definitely going in my liked videos playlist)
Lots of cultures wear pants under a dress with a split (Indian, Vietnamese...). I wouldn't say it's ugly, but idk what this version is supposed to look like exactly.
"you are beautiful, but not enough to tempt me" LITERALLY ripped from pride and prejudice i GASPED. HOW DARE YOU STAND WHERE SHE STOOD
they way the author tried to make her “morally grey” by making her kill a guy who rejected her?? Like that is just evil
there's morally grey and then there's straight up ridiculous
what the--
trisha are you okay?

Same
Seriously. Because of rejection? Talk about insecurity.
