If the signs or traffic lights don't constantly tell you what to do or when to stop or move (like you're a robot) you have to pay attention yourself and work it out with the others, it works well (most of the time, because some people are still hypnotized by their phones so much they miss a cargotruck that is right in front of them when riding a bicycle or a car 🙈 and....well.....you can imagine the result 🙄) It's the same with everything. If there is not someone next to you constantly telling you what to do and/or how to do it, you need to start thinking for yourself and work it out. And suddenly you realise you got a brain for a reason! 🤪
Those triangular signs are "yield" signs, as are the triangles on the road. These signs are the same for bicycles and motorized traffic. You have to yield to traffic on the priority road that you are approaching, but you don't have to stop, when there is no traffic. An octagonal "stop" sign, is mandatory: you have to stop, even when there is no traffic on the priority road. At least, that's how it's supposed to work, like in that situation with that viaduct(?)/tunnel with poor visibility. But as NJB said, it makes less sense on a normal intersection with good visibility in all directions, especially for bicyclists. In that case there are other means to, as you have noticed yourself, keep the attention on the road.
