I also thought about Lisa and Victor discuss about their future as a married couple because Victor wanted kids and Lisa wasn’t so sure if she did, since Mary Shelley’s novel had so many reflections about motherhood
As someone who watched this movie blind, imagine my surprise recognizing a local filipino actress. Liza was really good in this and I hope she gets more project like this.
I absolutely love all the references to Mary Shelley. From her dead mom issues, her horrible stepmother and kind stepsister Claire. Her hanging out in graveyards. I thought it was clever to have the creature read a Percy Shelley poem
I legitimately love Taffy and her overall relationship with Lisa. Lisa’s dad was borderline neglectful, her stepmother was a massive b!tch, her boss was somewhat of a misogynistic creep, she had no friends, her crush turned out to be a POS, but Taffy wasn’t like any of those people at all. She made the effort to get along with Lisa, tried to make sure she stayed safe at the party, stood up for her, tried to help her socialize, etc. There’s something so poetic about Lisa giving Taffy her mother’s rosary at the end that I feel like best summarizes their relationship
idk, Taffy seemed very unlikable and insensitive to me in some moments, like when she told her friends what happened to Lisa´s mom even though she promised her she wouldn´t tell anyone which led to their classmates spreading a rumor that Lisa was the one who did it, and she seemed to think Lisa´s trauma of losing her mother was instantly solved when her father got married again because she had a "new mom", Taffy took Lisa to that party she didn´t want to go and then left her on her own to hang with her cheerleader friends, and where was Taffy when Doug took adventage of Lisa? @@lauracerqueiramachado8979 I respect your opinion, but I saw Taffy as being ditzy rather than intentionally insensitive. Taffy telling her friends what happened to Lisa’s mom to me came across as Taffy trusting her friends and not thinking they’d spread a rumor. I got the feeling that her thinking Lisa’s trauma was resolved by the new marriage was the result of her not fully understanding Lisa’s trauma, her mother working as a psych nurse which might’ve warped her perception of mental health (what with her thinking Michael was in a wheelchair when Lisa said he was “cerebral”), and Taffy’s good relationship with her mother may have blinded her to the polar opposite relationship of her mother and Lisa. Taffy bringing Lisa to the party was very clearly an attempt to get Lisa to socialize since she didn’t really have any friends outside of Taffy herself. I felt like Taffy leaving Lisa alone to hang out with her friends was to let Lisa to socialize herself without her fully butting in. She seemed genuinely concerned when Lisa drank that tampered drink and brought her inside, most likely with the hope that she’d just ride out her high in a calmer environment since it seemed more lowkey in the house. Additionally, Doug at first seemed genuinely concerned about Lisa which probably led Taffy to think that Lisa will be safe with him and he’ll help take care of her/get her home safe. As for her “you don’t have to worry about anything because your mom has already been murdered” comment, I genuinely don’t think it came from a place of malice. Rather, to me it seems like what she meant was that fate of Lisa’s mother wasn’t unknown and she knew exactly what happened to her. Keep in mind, she was also deeply stressed out by her mother’s disappearance and it’s fairly common for people to say unintentionally hurtful things while in a state of anger or sadness. Finally, the whole thing with Michael seemed more like Michael’s fault then Taffy’s, with him first taking advantage of Taffy’s ditziness, then her stress from her mother’s disappearance, to finally her grief from her mother’s murder to get with her (which is also why I find Michael’s death/other head decapitation so satisfying). Overall, many of Taffy’s actions can easily be the result of her being a teenager. Once again, you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am (though, I also have Autism which makes it harder for me to interpret social cues so I might have missed or misinterpreted certain actions)
@@trashotaku I see what you mean, and I agree with some arguments, I don´t think Taffy is a bad person she just felt annoying to me (it felt like even when she was being "nice" she was still being subtly mean or narcissistic somehow) and she tried to be a good sister but she made mistakes, also yes it was mostly Michael´s fault he sucked and was clearly using Lisa to get to Taffy (and I happen to be autistic too so I understand)
Wait why is her crush a POS and the sister isnt. I haven't seen the movie just this kill count but it seemed like the crush didn't particularly know explicitly she liked him but the sister did so why is he the bad guy and not her
@@genesisfunes7551 no no, Micheal knew Lisa liked him she didn’t do much to hide it (it was actually very obvious) and there were even moments when it felt like he was flirting with her but since he stablished he never liked her that way it looks like he was just having fun leading Lisa on and using her crush on him to get her to give him class notes when he cut

It’s also almost a modern and gender-swapped version of “Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride”, the animated intro reminded me of the shadows from “Remains of the Day”, like the corpse bride the creature came back from the dead to meet his living love due to a misunderstanding, he couldn’t rest in peace because he never got to get married just like her, he has bugs living inside of him just like the corpse bride, he still has some tears to shed, he plays the piano and dances, he suffers because his love is interested in someone else who is alive, but I’d say the creature got the dark happy ending most “Corpse Bride” fans wanted

Fun fact, I actually watched this for my birthday without knowing anything about it beforehand. I had a couple friends over and we went to the theater to watch this and even though we didn’t rent out the theater, there was only one other person there. No one else had come to watch it. Me and my friend agreed to see a movie, we both forgot so we rushed together, I forgot to buy the tickets online and our intended theater was too far for most the show times. We went to a closer one and randomly chose Lisa Frankenstein since the movie we wanted to see wasn’t available. It was a fantastic movie and I’m glad we went in blind. This movie is just overall beautiful, stylish, and very funny that’s perfectly mixed with the horror.

You know they could make it a sequel with references to “The Craft” (since it would set in the 90’s), it’s wishful thinking but I have this theory that Lisa is a natural witch like Sarah, that’s why she had a connection to the supernatural and managed to bring someone back to life just by wishing it, Taffy said “the heshers did witchcraft” in that cemetery and if it’s true maybe that’s why she felt so comfortable there because it was a magical place somehow
So, we have: Happy Death Day = Horror Groundhog Day Freaky = Horror Freaky Friday Totally Killer = Horror BttF And Lisa Frankenstein = Horror Heathers I am eagerly waiting for the Horror Breakfast Club adaptation

kathryn's physical acting was so muppett-esque at times and lisa felt so believable. i rly hope this movie will get it's recognition one day like jennifer's body
About the title, the first time I read about the movie before it’s release I got the impression that Lisa was someone who shipped herself with the Frankenstein monster, which works with my theory that Cole Sprouse’s character is Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley’s novel and Lisa is Victor’s wife from the novel Elizabeth (Lisa can be a short for Elizabeth), his tombstone was damaged but we could read “tein” by the end of it, his first life was around the time when Mary Shelley’s novel was being written, and that’s why the name of the movie is “Lisa Frankenstein” despite the protagonist’s name in the beginning being Lisa Swallows because they got married in the end
So I remembered seeing the ads for the movie on UA-cam and I thought “ok this seems kinda interesting, a cute little take on a love story” and then I saw it was available on Peacock and man it was something! The humor, the aspects of gore, and all the actors did a good job. I really liked it

She was too busy talking to Michael she didn´t even take Lisa home she had to walk all the way back while intoxicated, I was almost feeling bad for Taffy when she was worried about her mom being missing until she said "you don´t have to worry about anything because your mom has already been murdered!", and she dated Michael behind Lisa´s back and she didn´t even know who he was until Lisa told her she liked him, I mean if she really liked him then she should have told Lisa he was into her so she wouldn´t get high hopes and then ask her if it was of if she dated him, that´s what a good friend would do
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 I respect your opinion, but I saw Taffy as being ditzy rather than intentionally insensitive.

The loving child of Edward Scissorhands and Heathers. I love the 80s vibe to it, a shame most original movies now tend to underperform at the box office nowadays
With a hint of "Frankenhooker" & "Encino Man" as well.
It’s also almost a modern and gender-swapped version of “Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride”, the animated intro reminded me of the shadows from “Remains of the Day”, like the corpse bride the creature came back from the dead to meet his living love due to a misunderstanding, he couldn’t rest in peace because he never got to get married just like her, he has bugs living inside of him just like the corpse bride, he still has some tears to shed, he plays the piano and dances, he suffers because his love is interested in someone else who is alive, but I’d say the creature got the dark happy ending most “Corpse Bride” fans wanted
the movie is pretty reminiscent of Death Becomes Her too
