  • Today we show our experience using form a drain. I show all the steps, how to layout wall lines, setting the form a drain, tying rebar, and pouring the footers. I show how the drains connect and where the sun pump goes. We show the process of forming and prepping the footers, and a time lapse of us pouring the footers. I also explain why I like to use form a drain more than the traditional way to do footers. thanks for watching!

    You young men do a great job! It's good to see that you properly support and tie the rebar.

    First of your videos I've watched...
    I'm watching these types of videos because I'm getting ready to build my own house in a couple of months.
    So I wondered at the absence of vertical rebar for the walls wet set into the footer?

    • @masonthemason6412
      @masonthemason6412  3 роки тому +2

      We lay block foundations. So we usually lay the first course of block through then drill pins down into the footer. It's hard to guess where our cores will be on the wet footer. If you are doing a concrete wall foundation it would be recommended to put the rebar in the wet footer, there is no measurements to hit for concrete walls. We have to be exactly in the core of the block we lay

      @@masonthemason6412 makes sense.
      Do you grout or epoxy in the pins?
      I've used the two part Hilti concrete epoxy (double tube mixer gun) for large anchor bolts (1-1/2" up to 3") so I bet it would work fantastic for rebar.

      @@bobjoatmon1993 we use it sometimes, it depends on the job. Yeah that's what we use too, It works great for rebar

    Happy Thanksgiving Wyatt, Great Video. I have a few questions.
    1. where did you place the radon outlets and how many.
    2. Is the house exterior walls stick build or icf build.
    3. Do you have more videos of the build.
    4. Are you a builder.
    Thanks...Nice Video, very informative.

      Thanks, happy Thanksgiving too, Thank you
      1. We run the radon pipe down the center of the basement, so we put it in the center of the wall it ran into.
      2. I think stick? Idk we don't use ICF
      3. Yes, if you click on my channel videos and look at top videos. The "how to build a block corner" video.
      4. Yes I'm a builder. I build foundations, and pour concrete. I build lots of things. What kind of builder are you adding about?
      Thank you very much

    Also, do you have to install a pipe to channel the water from outer form to inner form anywhere? What’s the rule of thumb for installing the pipe that transfers water to the inner form so the water eventually ends up in the sump basket? Thanks

    • @masonthemason6412
      @masonthemason6412  3 роки тому

      The drains are connected to the subpump, and all the water is pushed a couple dozen yards away from the foundation

      We googled it and bought it off someone selling it near us. Some hardware store or lumber yard.
      You could UA-cam it more. Idk how good reading stuff off Google will help you learn. The best way I learn is actually doing it. Sometimes you mess up, but you learn and never make the same mistakes. And build off of what works for you

    Do the radon outlets and drain tile pipe outlets have to be in a coupler joint?

    • @masonthemason6412

    The water gets to the drain/foundation forms, makes it way in, then what? Not addressed in the video is how the water is brought away from the house. I don't see a pump on gravity fed escape for the water.

    They did not put any laterals from the outside drain to the inside so it can flow into the sump pit. This is why these systems fail. Cutting corners and lazy, sloppy workmanship.
