    It's very odd to see my city through the eyes of a tourist 😁 looks like ye got around anyways. Shame about the weather.
    You did well with the titles, but what you called "The Salt House" is actually Monroe's. Salt House is a smaller pup across the road. No harm no foul.
    Pop back again in early June or in August - the weather is generally better. Although this year it's been bucketing rain all of July 😭

      Thanks for the correction. Yes, I got Monroe's Tavern off Fairhill Road Upper mixed up with The Salt House on Raven Terrace. I bet the tourists are heavy in the summer months. Living in the Las Vegas desert makes me think that people in Ireland will be much better off with all the climate change issues.

    A fantastic video. Was a student in Galway (UCG, now U of G) for 4 years back in the 80s. Did part of my final exams in the Aula, which features at about 10:15. The weather you had is pretty typical for Galway. Happy memories - don't get back as often as I'd like.

      I also did my university studies back in the 80s; seems so far away. I wasn't aware of all the name changes which apparently cause some confusion. Founded as Queen's College, Galway in 1845, then known as University College, Galway until 1997, then National University of Ireland, Galway until 2022. Now University of Galway.

      @@chairjacker Interesting. Had to look it up: The city takes its name from that of the river, the Gaillimh. The word Gaillimh means "stony" as in "stony river". Today, the river is commonly called the River Corrib, after Lough Corrib, just to the north.

    Great video! Unfortunately the music isn’t Irish. The only tune that is Irish is ‘Banish Misfortune’. It probably an American group claiming to be irish(which isn’t a bad thing!) with perhaps some irish roots. When Irish music is played it’s doesn’t have a country or bluegrassy swing. It’s dryer without the flash the music does the talking. But top video! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    • @arthousecreations1
      @arthousecreations1  10 місяців тому

      I currently don't have a large selection of music available for this channel as it isn't monetized so I generally work with free music. But appreciate your comments so that next time I can make a better effort to get more authentic music. Given that there are about 36 million ethnic Irish residing in the US, there always seem to be some type of Irish or Irish influenced bands playing locally. And the music ranges widely from the traditional to the hybrid mixes. I personally favor Irish punk bands like The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, etc. They even had an "Irish" band playing one day during our bike ride through Iowa. ua-cam.com/video/AGs7C7PWrcM/v-deo.htmlsi=dC0Ktw9Dte4xWaYE&t=737

    • @arthousecreations1
      @arthousecreations1  11 місяців тому

      The weather and temperatures will be more of a challenge in December so dress warm and plan ahead for inside activities if needed. In Dublin the low will be around 37° and high of 47° with about 12 days of rain in the month. In Dublin I would visit the free National Gallery of Ireland and National Museum of Ireland-Decorative Arts & History. In Galway, I enjoyed exploring the Galway Cathedral and University of Galway. There are so many options. Have a great trip. I have several Dublin vidoes you can watch to get some ideas; just see the Ireland playlist.

    Really crappy weather it seems your entire visit! The past 20 years visiting Ireland, I seem blessed on the planet, just one or two days, rain or just a drizzle. That train journey from Dublin - is it still nearly 3 hr, the landscape is beyond boring.

    • @arthousecreations1
      @arthousecreations1  Рік тому +1

      The Galway portion was a bit rainy at times but not during the entire visit. The first evening had some light rain but the next day had no rain, just some wind. We were very fortunate during our entire visit to Ireland (Dublin, Belfast, Killarney) that we had some great weather in April. The train ride from Dublin to Galway was uneventful by train but there were a few interesting landscapes including sheep farms, bogs, country estates, etc. Always fun to people watch during the train station stops. Yes, the train took about 2.5 hours.

      Some interesting facts about Ireland, the total population is about 5 million. The city of Dublin has about 1 million whereas the Dublin urban area is about 1.9 million. Galway has about 71 thousand. The Irish population density is about 73 people per square kilometer (ranked 139th in the world) - US is 36/km2; China 146/km2. During the Potato Famine -between 1845 and 1851 - two million people died or were forced to emigrate from Ireland. The population of Ireland has never been able to repopulate to its pre-famine level of approximately 8 million residents. The entire island of Ireland, both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, have a population around 6.8 million people. The economy in Ireland has been one of the strongest in Europe in recent years with consistently rising wages. Major industries in Ireland include high-tech, life sciences, and financial services.
