- Girls Night Out by Wendy Dalrymple (creature feature feminist horror) - Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne (haunted house/toxic family) - Bless your Heart by Lindy Ryan (family/sisterhood/vampires) - Queen of the Cicadas by V. Castro (my favorite of her books I’ve read) - Mine: an anthology of bodily autonomy horror (unfortunately feels more relevant now than ever) - Annie Bot by Sierra Greer (Stepford Wives meets AI)
I've missed watching UA-cam but I absolutely had to click as soon as I had time. This is MY subgenre, just give me all of them. Sounds like I need to add some YA, Lit Fic, and Extreme Horror to my list!
Absolutely love this and going to revisit for recs for sure. I would also say A Certain Hunger would fit. Think female Hannibal, involving former partners
Shelley Hyde (Kit Reed)'s BLOOD FEVER about a virus that turns women into misandrist killers, I see that being filmed under the title 'FEMALE RAGE', and possibly my favourite John Blackburn OUR LADY OF PAIN (which he dedicated to Christopher Lee for getting his NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT filmed) with the fantastic villainess/antiheroine Dame Susan Vallance planning to unleash hellish vengeance on opening night of the titular play.
I really need to get my hands on The Eyes Are The Best Part! I am dying to read it! I also really need to get a copy of Out because that's on my list too! Great video!!
I have been looking forward to this video for so long and it doesn’t disappoint!! Gotta give Lisa Frankenstein it’s time to shine. I will never forgive people for letting it flop in theaters 😂🤬 Goddess of Filth is one of my fave V Castro books. I need to read The Perfect Victim 😂 The literary world needs more peen destruction scenes in books hahah. MAEVE FLY FOREVER!!!! She is the coolest! Amazing list!!! I added In the Garden of Spite to my nonfiction reading list!! Have you read Pizza Girl? It’s literary fiction with some unhinged women elements that get pretty rage-y at the end!
This definitely makes me want to move animal and motherthing up my list - also want to recommend Girls Night out by Wendy Darymple for those who haven’t read it - it is creature feature good for her horror at its finest.
I forgot to mention The Power by Naomi Alderman! What are some of your female rage book recs? 🔥
It's not out yet, but Victorian Psycho is grear!

A Certain Hunger and An Excellent Host -- both by Chelsea G. Summers
I Am Not Your Final Girl poetry collection by Claire C. Holland
Ahhh that’s such a sublime novel! Her follow up The Future, is also amazing but entirely different genre xx
