Had the same issue, removed the shift motor and cleaned out all of the original grease that had hardened. Re-applied new lithium grease installed new o-rings on the motor /spacer and it shifts like new.
Good information, but to bad it didn't fix your problem. My problem never came back so I never went to the dealer to ask questions yet, I'll try to find a way to convince my brother to make the drive.
Hey I have a question I bought an arctic cat 250 2005 and when I put it in first year what eight dollars is it bounces a shake a lot every time I put it into a different year is that normal oh and can you make a video of how to cut the back brakes because I my back brakes aren’t working I just bought this qaud thanks
Kountry Quads how can you tell if it’s the angle sensor? I’m thinking of replacing mine but I don’t wanna waste money rn if it’s not the issue. I took apart the shift motor and it seemed fine. Idk why the 2009 rancher doesn’t have codes.
No, it didn't. You are the only one I've met that has that problem, I actually have been trying to fix it the past 5 days. I believe I either need a new throttle position sensor which came in the mail today but you must reset your ecm when you do that. So I just ordered the tool to reset the ecm, and I will try to reset the system with my old throttle position sensor and see what happens. I will keep you posted on how this goes. FYI these are all the parts I've tried that didn't work / angle sensor, ES shift gears cleaning, ecm, ES handle bar button shifter, and multiple clutch adjustments. Nothing has worked yet...
I bought my rancher last year and the issue has been there since I first rode it. didn't really think too much of it at first but its a real pain in the ass when I take off in first hard and fast and have to hit the button 10 times before it will shift to second. replaced the shift motor earlier this year when it completely crapped out, but the upshift issue still their. if I drive nice and slow, will shift into second fine, but take off hard and fast, wont shift. I don't mind throwing parts at it, as everything is cheap.
My dad's has the same problem. I fixed it multiple times by taking apart the green connector and drying it out. I believe this issue is from a ground problem because he also lost his headlights and the ground wire heated up and burnt the connector. The other thing that makes me think that is before it broke this last time he had to Rev it real high and let it come back down to get it to upshift when taking off.
Elijah's 4 wheeling I made an assumption that it was failing because I was having some delayed shifting. At certain rpms it wouldn’t allow me to shift, it would make me press the button more than once to shift. But after testing it yesterday, the sensor wasn’t bad so I’m not to sure what is causing the issue now. I thought I’d try it for 20 bucks but it wasn’t the sensor.
Elijah's 4 wheeling yes, I’ve adjusted it 3-4 times. I just can’t figure out why. It has to be electrical. Like it’s not getting enough voltage or something along those lines.

What did it show on the gears before you put that on
Was your neutral light flashing and would not shift
No talk about pre-loading the sensor or syncing it up with the ECU?
The new gen (hall-effect) sensors do not need to be aligned like the original 2007 year sensor. better technology allows for this.
Does this fix when the four wheeler has trouble shifting
Hey Kountry, did you ever figure it out?

Have you figured out the problem I have a 2013 that’s doing the same thing
caleb barker it’s is the clutch discs, they become glazed over and they need to me replaced or taken out and lightly sanded.

did you ever figure out the issue? my 2011 rancher does the same thing.

did the throttle position sensor fix your issue?
@@cevans6318ify you ever fix the problem???

Cool and did the angle sensor actually go bad or not

Kountry Quads have you tried adjusting the clutch I think it's about the same on a 420 as a Rancher 350

Kountry Quads well I guess just try to clean all the connections
Where is the angle sensor location
Do you have an Instagram?
Elijah's 4 wheeling yes, I do. It's kountryquads. Go to my channel then go onto "about" then click on my Instagram link.
Kountry Quads okay I will follow you and I will also be posting on my account and I just uploaded a video about my new four wheeler
