His reasoning is really bad.
He says that when he reached puberty, he rejected Western culture. He wants to imply that this was due to a rebellious phase.
Hormones change during puberty. If you have the opportunity as a boy, you run after every woman and do all sorts of nonsense. Therefore, the decision not to live your life according to these standards cannot be reconciled with your logic. He lacks the idea that there is honour, reason and morality - and this is independent of age.
