The world was really not ready for this masterpiece back in 2013. And although this is not exactly something die hard fans of OG superman love, it is a take which I always connect with and believe in
People say that Zack doesnt understand these heroes because his universe was to dark. Folks dont understand that his adaptation was one of the closest to source materials. Sure he may have gone a bit far off the reservation with killing Zod, he does know how to create a more relatable hero. I've never cared about Superman until I saw MoS and BvS.
@@youngrootv well, if jimmy got caught doing some shady stuff, of course he would get killed. Makes sense. Now if your saying why would he kill off someone like Jimmy Olsen? He wanted to show that no one is safe in his universe, he said in an interview its to show that his universe has consequences, if jimmy got caught because he was operating under Cia Influences then he dealt with the consequences. that's pretty much the premise of the movie, characters dealing with the consequences of their actions.
Honestly, Snyder didn’t even go off the reservation in killing Zod. People keep forgetting there would’ve been no way to contain Zod had Superman decided to spare him. There was no kryptonite, no depowering cells, nothing. Kal had to put Zod down. Not to mention, I find it odd people keep forgetting Zod died in Superman II, as well. And it can be argued it was worse than his death in Man of Steel because, if I recall correctly, Zod was depowered before he was tossed to the bottom of the Fortress of Solitude. But that’s just my two cents.
About your "Superman doesn't kill" comment. Superman will absolutely kill, when there's no other option. He will exhaust every option first, often to his own detriment, but once he makes the decision to do so, he will carry it out. He will not kill humans no matter what though. Aliens, demons, monsters are fair game however. In the Post-Crisis Comics, Superman de-powered an alternate universe Zod and his two cronies and then held Kryptonite on them until they were dead. His reasoning was that Zod had already killed his own universe and now threatened Clark's. Clark felt that as a Kryptonian, it fell to him to be judge, jury and executioner. After that he was really tore up and put in place his "kill only as a last resort" rule.
Love this grew up watching it and I really loved the beginning on his home world liked when he trusted his father, love when he shows up to save his mom, and when he killed Zod and how he reacted to it and the meanings behind it.
no superman and batman must never kill.... heroes don't kill....except all the ones that do.... no one care about deeper meanings they just want cat saves, old lady's and smiling while people are dying. it's not like people worship ordinary humans like they are more than such so why would they worship actual god-like beings who seemingly answer prayers and save their lives.....i don't know why you people actually use your brains to think and not consume twitter toks...... thank you (seriously)
This is a good movie I’m so happy hes playing Superman again it’s already confirmed that we’re getting man of steel 2. Also wait for the post credit scene in black Adam
I really don't like how often people think this but under extreme circumstances Superman will kill. Both Superman and Doomsday killed each other at the same time in the comics. To serve the greater good Superman will kill but above all he still values life. Batman is the one who in every iteration I know of refuses to kill. Ever!
Batman did kill when he was first introduced. The no kill rule came to be a thing after the comic code came to be or a bit after it (don't remember when it became official lore.)
Christopher Reeve's Superman dropped a de-powered Zod down an icy pit, so I'm pretty sure he killed him. And he did it with a smile on his face. I don't understand why some people took such issue with Cavill's Superman killing. At least he tried to avoid it and showed remorse right afterwards.
Both Henry Cavill and Amy Adams auditioned for Superman Returns, so glad they didn't get cast for that cos they fit this universe so well and so happy Cavill is back! MoS is a masterpiece!
The actors who played Clark Kent and Lex Luthor on the Smallville TV series have a weekly podcast on UA-cam called TalkVille where they're rewatching and reviewing every single episode of the entire show from scratch.
It's not Superman who never kills, that's Batman. Superman has killed when it was absolutely necessary. One glaring example is post Crisis Superman was judge, jury and executioner to Zod and two other Kryptonian's on the alternate Earth where Matrix (Supergirl) came from. They had killed Earth's entire population and when Matrix brought Superman there, he used red kryptonite (iirc) to kill Zod and the others. This was something that stayed with him for the rest of that comic's run (so even post og Doomsday).
This really makes me want ya'll to react to the show "Smallville" !! Its basically a Superman origins show but based in everything I've seen in this channel I believe ya'll would love it !!!
Y'all should add Smallville! It's great if you like Superman. At least the first 6 sessions. They used a whole lot of actors from Smallville in this movie too. Even Lois Leave in this movie is in like the second episode.
Definitely the most underrated superhero film of all-time... Henry Cavill redefined the Superman character like Daniel Craig did for the James Bond character 👍🏾👍🏾... #HesBack
Tell me about it! This movie, had moments where I actually got 'moved, emotional'; Even now, all these years later, I will play the 'world engine' clip or Clark's learning to fly here on Y/T and I still get affected. Perhaps is just Hans Zimmer's superlative score but it works. And as much as I actually enjoyed it, the MCU with it's 10++ years of action setpieces and jokey jokes and character development was never able to do that.
@@nickmitsialis Several do, but the scene where he broke Zod's neck,...that scream. The pain of being forced to do that, encapsulating everything beforehand,...well done, tears me up.
Gosh I love this movie so much and believe is utterly underrated because the end, but is a perfect origin story for a modern Superman. And everything about it is amazing, Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon asgeneral Zod, Amy Adams, the score by genius Hans Zimmer, the direction, all of it!
an interesting fact, a lot of people say its so stupid that the people cant tell that Clark Kent is superman when the only difference between them is the glasses and suit. well Henry Cavill went to Time Square wearing glasses and nobody noticed him even though Superman's face was on every screen
Well done for spotting the White Cliffs of Dover in that shot. I live pretty close to there so I almost take it for granted, so it's nice to see someone else from thousands of miles away get excited about it 😊😊
I love the music of this film its sooo good Henry cavil fits the look of superman perfectly and give superman a good story and he's good he has multiple weaknesses being op isn't all bad
Critics didn't liked this movie they said it was dark and violent but for me. This is the most realistic depiction of superman. The battle scene shows what would really happen if a bunch of super- powered aliens beat the hell out of each other on Earth.
I think you should start a reaction series for Smallville! It’s a really cool series about Superman growing up in Smallville and learning about who he is
@@Darkhyron It's an early 2000s The WB(What would become The CW) Drama show that features superheros.. yeah.. it's cheesy but it's so damn good. I don't say that cuz I watched it as a kid(when I wasn't even old enough to) I watched it a few years ago when I was 19
@@Darkhyron Oh I don't blame you for that, but times change and media now will be cheesy or "cringe" in 20 years. I also don't think they had the greatest of budgets for the show..
Mark 12:30. That was a deliberate contrast to the scenes in, "Superman: The Movie", in which the couple duck, dodge, and so on and so forth, until the planet explodes anyway. 🧐
I can tell you guys must have kids because you get so emotional when parents lose kids, or kids get hurt, or if kids get bullied, or anything else happens to kids or parents in movies, you can see how much both of you feel that. It’s one of my favorite parts of this channel.
Yes, Kara was also sent away the same way before Krypton exploded, but not with Kal-El but separately in her own ship. There is actually a prequel comic to Man of Steel and in the movie, when Kal-El walks around the ship, you see him walk by a pod that was already previously opened. I remember everyone freaking out theorizing at the time that open pod may have been Kara. I think you may want to do a rewatch of Aquaman after you see the Snyder Cut of Justice League. You may get more out of it this time around. Man of Steel probably ranks for me in my top 2 or 3 best comic book movies of all time, seriously. Did you ever watch the movie, Green Lantern, with Ryan Reynolds? From what I know, technically, that was supposed to be the start of the DCEU, but since the movie bombed, that changed things. LOL. I and many others liked the movie, though it did have a villain problem, but I never blamed Reynolds for it bombing. If you never saw it, I think you may enjoy it. I still think the movie is re-watchable and not as bad as others claim it is. At the time when I first saw this movie in the theaters, I could so easily see some of the references to the Smallville tv show, which I was and still am a HUGE fan of. Zack Snyder himself said (of course, I paraphrase) he also loved the show and was heavily influenced by it making this movie and I think it shows. I cannot wait for you guys to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Those 4 hours fly by quickly and you will barely even notice the time going by. Yes, it is cut up into nice sections, but if you're anything like me, you will not be able to stop yourself but will want to keep watching. Make sure you see the Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition. I loved the theatrical version, but the studio cut a lot out and re-arranged a few scenes for the theatrical. By the way, there are about 5 issues of prequel comics that takes place between Man of Steel and Batman V Superman sponsored by Dr. Pepper you can find online and read. I found those comics to be very fun and so very wish they actually got included in the BvS film itself. I think that would have cleared up some of the confusion and over-exaggerated fan hate BvS got at the time it came out. I know it was just a rumor last week, but by now, it has been confirmed WB is interested in Man of Steel 2 and is looking for a writer an director. The Rock even said the old WB regime did not want Cavill back but the new leadership did. Henry Cavill is definitely my favorite Superman and I am also including all the TV versions. Tyler Hoechlin is probably my #2. For me, I think Amy Adams and Henry Cavill had THE BEST Lois Lane and Clark Kent on-screen chemistry ever, including movies and tv shows. I think J.V. would really like the prematurely canceled TV series, Krypton, that ran for 2 seasons. It sort of takes the concept of the beginning of this movie and expounds on the history of Krypton and Superman's lineage. I did not know at the time there were comic book stories made about that already. But, the show itself was very unique and very fun (at least for me).
Just for reference. In the hurricane scene Clark or Jonathan Kent do not know that Clark can survive a hurricane. Based on the first flight scene superman doesn't know his limits at all. He's 16 in that hurricane scene and was not allowed to use his abilities because he had to repress them for his own safety. The last thing the world needs is for the government to lock up an immature gods dad. Jonathan understands the true danger and sensitive nature of raising a man. Taking the role of a man and sacrificing himself is a lesson had to learn. It's far more important than even his own life. Clark needs this example if he can be trusted to be a hero in his adulthood.
As a fellow Canadian, I can totally relate to the ‘not dressed warmly enough’ bit! Great reaction, guys. I remember seeing this in theatres. It was awesome!
JANE: "Look at the silos... oh no." // ME: "Oh Jane... the silos are the LEAST of our worries, property damage wise." 😄 RE Zod's TV broadcast: up `til now, I just assumed that he wanted to be a bit creepy, or that static is the price you pay for trying to broadcast thru another species' technology. With this watch though, I'm wondering if his "appearance" looks the way it looks because of how the Kryptonian 3-D tech would appear on a 2-D device (i.e., a TV or phone screen). (Hoping this isn't a theory that's already been talked about or verified a LONG time ago)
Even though the 2 of you are good and funny; I have one problem with reactions people don’t “escape” and don’t let a movie be a movie. Don’t think in reality it’s make believe
Most Underrated superhero movie ever... In case no one told y'all, this is the best order for these films is : Man of Steel Batman v Superman: Extended Edition (not the theatrical version) Zack Snyder's Justice League (Not the theatrical version) Enjoy!
The Kryptonian population is based on family houses. The House of El is Jor El and Lara El. Thier son is named Kal El. Each house has their own symbol or crest. The soundtrack was composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer.
Mark 29:14. In, "Smallville", the character, "Pete Ross", is African-American. (The actor that played him is not related to the actor that played, "Flash Gordon", by the way.) Sam Jones III, was a very nice young guy when my best friend and I met him in, Tulsa. We were in line to get his autograph on our respective photographs, and he started a conversation with us, so we had to step aside to continue it, even as he kept signing autographs for others. He must've lacked convention experience though. His father was his manager, at least at the booth. This one guy wanted an issue of the comic book magazine adaptation of the television series to be signed, since, "Pete Ross", was on the cover. Sam, signed it. Then he saw that it was an issue that he hadn't read yet. So the conversation and the line came to a halt, when he began to read the issue! That annoyed his father, who apologized to the crowded line, as he admonished his son and told him how to be more professional! Sam, was embarrassed! He asked the guy if he could keep the issue long enough to finish reading it, and that he would give it back to him later. But the guy said that he had to go to work, and couldn't wait! So, Sam, finished the page at least, returned the issue, and the line progress resumed. But our conversation topic, couldn't, because he got distracted enough by his own behavior, to remember what he wanted to talk to us about. 😁😅 🦸
Also I pity Zod and he explains it well at the end fight a scene just before him and superman go at it and yes how he went about it was wrong I'm sure there could have been another way to bring krypton back without killing earth

Superman is always breaking the sound barrier, and I love it.
The world was really not ready for this masterpiece back in 2013. And although this is not exactly something die hard fans of OG superman love, it is a take which I always connect with and believe in
if you guys are going to watch Batman v Superman after this, you should make sure to watch the extended edition :)
A thousand times, this. The extended version is a much better movie.
This movie is hella underrated. The score is 🔥.
HENRY CAVILL - BEST SUPERMAN EVER!!! ❤💛💙
Also big difference between dark and just mature
I mean Zac Snyder also killed Jimmy Olson for no reason. He likes to be edgy for the sake of being edgy a lot of the time just look at Watchmen lol
@@youngrootvhi cared about Jimmy Olsen. He did nothing in the 1978 movie
I love this movie so much!!! Seen it so many times and this reaction still got me teared up!!!
I love how different this Superman movie is. Henry is just SO AMAZING as Superman 🥰
I can watch this movie repeatedly and it never gets old with me. Man of Steel 2, let's go! We're 3 solo movies late.
Have you guys watched SHAZAM?BLACK ADAM was kinda the first”shazam from ancient days”you gotta Shazam before seeing BA
The drama, the flight, the fight scene, what more could we expect from this movie? This is one the best superhero movie I've ever watch.
31:11
Only the power of LOVE could keep Superman at bay
😢❤
It's undeniable how much personality DCEU films have. Every film feels unique, mostly Snyder ones, no one shots a film like him
One of my favorite dc movies. Makes sure to watch the ultimate edition for BvS.
I think you guys had the most compassionate reaction to Superman killing Zod💙
Magic Magy, Rico Presents, and Dasha from Russia too.
Most underrated superhero of all time! 🔥💯
19:15 the quieter scenes in Man of Steel is so so great. They evoke all the emotions and Hans Zimmer then ratched it up to 11
Oh and I love the original superman actors but I love Henry Cavil playing him a lot
I'm so glad you guys included Zod's best line: HERESY!!! 🤣
This movie is Underrated and underappreciated. Also, DC stands for Detective Comics. Great reaction btw
The actress who plays Lois is Amy Adams, who only shares a slightly similar hair color to Ellie Kemper, the comedic actress from The Office.
❤Henry Cavil is my fave❤ I love everything he’s in!!!
I love this movie so much. This, BvS (UE), and the SnyderCut together tell such a cohesive and compelling story. I hope we get to see the rest one day
absolutely love this movieeeee. excited for man of steel 2
Because they don't know the comics. They think he is like Batman or something with a code of not killing but Superman does kill when he needs to.
DC stands for Detective Comics, which was the original title of Batman's comic. Superman's original comic is was called Action Comics.
Definitely the most underrated superhero film of all-time... Henry Cavill redefined the Superman character like Daniel Craig did for the James Bond character 👍🏾👍🏾... #HesBack
I feel ya man, this movie was very emotional for me as well. Well done film. Wish they would've continued with the direction,...
@@jaredroberts578 Solid; not to mention, as far as he knows, Clark has killed the only other living Kryptonian in the universe.
Also liked what he was doing for the people on the oil rig
an interesting fact, a lot of people say its so stupid that the people cant tell that Clark Kent is superman when the only difference between them is the glasses and suit. well Henry Cavill went to Time Square wearing glasses and nobody noticed him even though Superman's face was on every screen
Well done for spotting the White Cliffs of Dover in that shot. I live pretty close to there so I almost take it for granted, so it's nice to see someone else from thousands of miles away get excited about it 😊😊
Welp, guess we won't be seeing Henry Cavill donning his red cape in a DC movie ever again.
I love the music of this film its sooo good Henry cavil fits the look of superman perfectly and give superman a good story and he's good he has multiple weaknesses being op isn't all bad
OMG! I'm so glad you got the channel back! I love watching your videos
Ms. Jane, don’t hold back the “justin.” I don’t drink every time you say it, but it’s hilarious. It’s part of the channel at this point. Lol
this is my favourite superhero movie & idc what anybody else says !!
Clark wasn’t bleeding when he got hit by the kryptonian drone. His shirt got burnt from the hit so it darkened. But it didn’t penetrate skin
I think we all should take a moment to think about what a Rob Schneider-verse would be, for better and worse. It's intriguingly terrifying.
He can do it!
A lot of makin copies
The initials for the DC Comic books were from taken from the Detective Comic series
Critics didn't liked this movie they said it was dark and violent but for me. This is the most realistic depiction of superman. The battle scene shows what would really happen if a bunch of super- powered aliens beat the hell out of each other on Earth.
I think you should start a reaction series for Smallville! It’s a really cool series about Superman growing up in Smallville and learning about who he is
No, it's cheep and bad...the reason you watching as a kid don't say it's a god show
@@Darkhyron It's an early 2000s The WB(What would become The CW) Drama show that features superheros.. yeah.. it's cheesy but it's so damn good. I don't say that cuz I watched it as a kid(when I wasn't even old enough to) I watched it a few years ago when I was 19
@@jadenwalker2052 I have 46 years I have 24 in the 2000 and feel bad when I watch that, at my age I want better quality
Congrats on getting your channel back. I was worried for min there.
I love that whenever Jane feels stress she immediately thinks of Justin😍
that smirk at 11:03 because why did they have to design those things to look exactly like.....eggplants????
The DC in DC Comics stands for Detective Comics. One of their original anthology comic's, and #27 is the 1st appearance of Batman.
Mark 1:09:07. "She works all day." Is she a, Lumberjill? (A reference to the funny skit song from, "Monty Python's Flying Circus". 😉 )
DC stands for Detective Comics
Man, I love that you guys know there is a drinking game for Jane shouting your name when she is surprised/scared of something.
Remember how you feel watching the destruction of Metropolis because Batman is watching also thinking the same thing
19:02 the delivery from Kevin Costner was perfection.
They flashed Christopher Reeve’s face when he was fight the world engine
My all time favorite superhero movie. Everything is perfect.
As a fellow Canadian, I can totally relate to the ‘not dressed warmly enough’ bit! Great reaction, guys. I remember seeing this in theatres. It was awesome!
The kids bus part... what do you do ? me = stay silent.
This movie is just phenomenal!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
JANE: "Look at the silos... oh no." // ME: "Oh Jane... the silos are the LEAST of our worries, property damage wise." 😄
RE Zod's TV broadcast: up `til now, I just assumed that he wanted to be a bit creepy, or that static is the price you pay for trying to broadcast thru another species' technology.
In case no one told y'all, this is the best order for these films is :
Man of Steel
Batman v Superman: Extended Edition (not the theatrical version)
Zack Snyder's Justice League
(Not the theatrical version)
Enjoy!
Rob Schneider was in multiple movies that starred Adam Sandler, as well as some that he led, like "The Animal," and "Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo."
Don’t be afraid to get teared up from music bro. Compositional music gets me teary too. Especially Howard Shore’s LOTR music.
The Kryptonian population is based on family houses. The House of El is Jor El and Lara El. Thier son is named Kal El. Each house has their own symbol or crest. The soundtrack was composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer.
I LOVE how emotional you guys get over stuff. This movie has a massive place in my heart. Love from the UK
That is the plot hole. They have a terreformer, they could have used it on any other planet (ie mars) and it would have converted that planet. They could have lived side by side with us humans but hey writing.
@@chriscowey7464 _"That is the plot hole. They have a terreformer, they could have used it on any other planet (ie mars) and it would have converted that planet. They could have lived side by side with us humans but hey writing."_
You missed where Zod explains to Superman that the terraformers _were_ tried on lifeless planets and all those colonies failed. So it's not really a plothole.
