What a faf of a job. There really is no need for all of that messing around.
Why can't people just drive a proper gear box and engine.

@@madmike214 That sets the bar at a low, low level. Having the diag. equip. to interigate all the systems for anything that comes in the shop, is getting very expensive. Add a chassis dyno to the list just for real life running conditions, your looking at 100k. Is it still worth it?

@@gothicpagan.666 it's tough... Tooling is only getting more expensive... Ford and Nissan have joined autoauth like Mopar, I already have a subscription but I also have to keep my scan tools up to date to use it

@@madmike214 I run a shop in the UK.
The going rate for a subscription with technical backup is £1200 per year, on top of 8-10k for each tool.
I think the only way for a independent garage to go, is to specialise in one make of manufacturer, and then do it very well.

@@gothicpagan.666 85/15 rule...85% of automotive is exactly the same as everyone else 15% do it differently. I'm a mobile tech so specializing in one brand wouldn't work for me
