    Crowdcast (bit.ly/2WRAWlj) is a webinar and livestreaming platform that does things a bit differently than the competition. For one thing, it feels more like a social network than any of the other tools I've tested.
    If you want to grow your audience with live online events and you're looking for something that costs less than GoToWebinar, this might be a good solution for you. And if you're looking to do paid webinars or you have a Patreon account, Crowdcast comes with some very interesting options. But, it's not without its downsides, either...

    Super informative once again Shane. The clear answer to my problem (finding a webinar hosting company) came as I was enjoying your video. YOU, my friend, are the answer! You have a complete understanding of what beginner and small start-ups need in a provider. You have the skill, background, capital, and a raving fan base to start up and promote the perfect webinar solution. I would be pleased to be the first subscriber in your new venture. Could you please give us a date when you will have this up and running? (smile)

      I'm not keen to create webinar software. I don't see a clear way to differentiate an offer, other than "like these, but slightly better"...

    I see you're doing a BigMarker review. We've been using it for a couple of months. BigMarker checks a lot of boxes on paper such as question upvoting, poll publishing, modal CTAs, tons of customization, public/presenter-only/private (direct) chat, annotation, paid attendance, pay with social media post, coupons, passworded events, and so on, but there are loads of problems in actual use. Recordings are awful (not HD when chat is included, recordings are just videos and don't play back in webinar room in sync with chat/questions/polls, etc., A/V sync drifts, and the whole recording process sometimes fails), events break down around 100 users (the attendee UI begins to fail, attendees need to refresh or exit/re-enter, etc.), heavy chat traffic slows both presenter and attendee UI response to a crawl, the presenter can't switch to screen sharing reliably at larger audience sizes (again, 100+), the analytics report grossly incorrect and internally contradictory data, polls can't be copied from previous webinars, users are silently admitted to the webinar room before the presenter starts the event, unsubscription requests from invitees aren't honored, thumbnails for events are presented in several different aspect ratios and are distorted, and there are bugs scattered throughout the product. Lastly, customer support is horrendous; the same question has to be explained over and over again, there are days or weeks before substantive responses are forwarded from the developers (and they're often wrong), most of the support articles are 3+ years old and I've been told they're obsolete, etc. Happy to discuss in more detail if you want to get in touch.
    P.S. There's a flash of a title frame at 16:16 that you might want to deal with.

    I have used crowdcast and I am disappointed with their paid services. It is useless with social media and many time I face technical errors. The interface is also old and odd as now many better alternatives are available

    Hey- First, great video. I went to see more about crowdcast and they have changed a lot of the packages and there are more options. Also, it appears that integrations are now included in the base package

    It seems like Crowdcast has changed their pricing and features since the making of this video.
    The price for their packages are lower, but now they also limit the amount of hours one can stream per month. The cheapest package is at $20/monthly but only 10 hours live per month, and the most expensive is $139/monthly but it's limited to 40 hours per month. They don't seem to offer more than 40 hours live per month as an option.

    • @ActiveGrowth
      @ActiveGrowth  4 роки тому

      Thank you for pointing that out! I think 10 hours a month for $20 is a pretty good deal, actually. If you do one or two webinars a month, that's more than enough.

    • @emmatheteachie

      I'm looking at it now and it's gone down to only 5 hours per month for $20!!

      If you get in contact with them and tell them what you need, they can work out a specific pricing for more hours per month, etc. They're pretty flexible.

    Are the live streams shown on Crowdcast recorded? If yes can they be then be shown on youtube? I am thinking of an interview situation with people in different places so that the interview can be filmed live then shown later. Maybe another platform is better?

    Hi Shane, we have been watching your videos with interest as we look to find the most appropriate webinar service provider for our needs, which are mainly to facilitate live virtual learning. We notice you have not reviewed LiveStorm... Is there a reason for this?

      I'm not sure what you'd specifically need for this. Perhaps a livestream would do (which you can do for free, for example on UA-cam)? It really depends on what you want to present during the event, how you want to interact with people etc.

    Great content, thanks for that. I'm still having a hard time finding just the right format for what I want to do. I want to host a reading of my recent play with 4 actors in different countries as well a myself and my stage manager so I need to be able to broadcast 6 remote people. I also want to be able to have an audience who can ask questions after the play. Do you know of a platform that would do all that and still be fordable? Thanks for your time and stay safe and healthy out there.

    • @ActiveGrowth
      @ActiveGrowth  4 роки тому +1

      Your best option for this might be doing a livestream. If you familiarize yourself with OBS and the concept of switching, that would help you create the "play" part, anyway. On a livestream, people can generally interact via chat, but not via voice.

      Is Patreon really that bad? My impression is that there's s small segment of users who have suffered from their censor-y policies, but most users seem to be unaffected and unaware.

      ActiveGrowth BigMarker review, great!! Patreon, well it’s a big subject more to do with corporates having the power to unperson people from from social platforms and financial institutions than business strategy. But in short I do feel they are that bad and not just patreon either.
