Generally what I can tell is the biggest difference this year from last is that feet to the ground strength. Last year we were just weak and any team could bully us to do what they wanted. But I think improved lines on both sides of the ball, a running capable QB, a massively improved RB room, add some sneaky underrated defensive players, and you’ve got the recipe for an upset or two.
That’s if everything goes right

Love the South Carolina content! If Sellers is as good as I’m hoping, I could see a path to 8-4 as long as our O-line is improved by a decent amount.
A healthy Tree and Henry takes us from the second or third quest in the league to easily top half. That's without the added depth.

@LouisianaVol I don't see them even beating Texas A&M. If they can Possibly beat BOTH A&M, and Kentucky in Lexington, 6-6 is possible. Yet Very Unlikely.
I honestly don't know how good they will be this year, but I know it will be fun. Sellers and Nyck are absolute monsters, excited to see what they can do as full starters.

OL will be the key one again. They need to stay healthy and step up their game. Otherwise it’ll be another year of disappointment.

Good breakdown Josh…A lot to consider with SC…I personally believe the college game is irretrievably ruined with the current NIL & dreadful portal
systems in place…This will always make things much more difficult for a team/program with a holding pattern for a trajectory in the new SEC…🤔
They can be good. They can be great! They'll need a the ball to bounce their way a few more times than last season, and hopefully not lose their entire O-line as soon as the season starts. Carolina may have the most underrated young QB in the country. They should have a shockingly aggressive and fast defense that is deep at every level. And people have forgotten that no one in the SEC could tackle Rocket Sanders when he was healthy. It's still the SEC so you can have a damn good team and finish .500, but the gamecocks could be last year's Missouri in terms of wins, but with a lot more style and substance.
They could be better than Missouri and still have fewer wins because of the difference in teams schedules

The run game and defense will surprise the nation
I understand anyone being cautious about our odds after last years implosion. But I gotta say, I think we return to 2022 form at minimum this year. LaNorris is being completely overlooked, our revamped RB room is being completely overlooked, we lost Xavier and so now people act like we have no WR options, and our defense is deeper than it’s been in years in all positions. This year will be surprising to a lot of fans and teams that play us. Beamer and the guys are making this a statement year I believe.

Feels like the biggest impact will be a (hopefully) healthy OL. Can't do much with 8 out for the season. Defense also seemed to take a step forward the last few games of the season
New Depth is the key
Defense will be 2X maybe 3X better. Pass rush should be nasty, fast, physical. Linebackers are loaded and secondary is easily one of the best in the SEC. A great defense opens up all kinds of possibilities

We were 5-7 last year. Not 4-6. Josh said it right on screen but graphic was wrong. Not that it makes that much a difference but we are SC. We need all the wins we can get.

Last year there was a lot of hype around SC and I think we’re in a weird spot. That was the first time Beamer underdelivered so now the fanbase is more cautiously optimistic.
I think 6 wins is gonna be grueling to achieve but possible.
They always my team but they suck always will Shane great guy just not the top level head coach they need maybe 6 game wins this season at best

it's amazing their win total is only 5.5 considering they have Wofford, Old Dominion, Vanderbilt, and Akron scheduled. They're really only expected to win 1.5 other games than that lol

And I’m a former Div I football player who grew up in South Carolina -- once upon a time a Gamecock fan.
The only thing I can say is that we’re definitely a “bigger,faster, stronger” team. We have SEC LB and DL size. The rest is unknown minus DBs…

At this point, if they dont win at least 8 games or more, how much longer do you hold on to Beamer? Guy is an excellent hype man but has never done anything to signify he can be a good HC. If not for Rattler last year, that team barley wins 3 games. Now hes gone and they are going with a recruit they raved about getting and was tabbed as Beamer's guy. If he isn't, expect some changes in Columbia.
You must not be a Carolina fan that truly understands how incredibly hard it is to win these games or any part of what being a head coach in the SEC really means. I want them to win every game and be champions yes I do . I also understand that it takes time to get that to happen because the head coach has to find all the pieces and make them fit. This is college football at the highest level. To believe Beamer isn't doing a good job because of crap you read and not being realistic about how many recruiting cycles it takes to build a team from what Muschamp left him . Your solution is to keep starting over if a coach has a bad year and close your eyes to the big picture of we are back to square one again . New coach, new state ,new staff and no trust from any school on the East Coast yet unless he's well known and that's probably not going to happen . Ten years is what it took Dabo at Clemson and he had the same experience as Beamer when he was hired. You may not like the example but it's the absolute truth. You know what they are doing every year now right? Get realistic and enjoy the game wins will come.
@kerrycarn8303 I actually don't have a dog in the fight. But as an outsider, it's talk of the fanbase that I pay attention to. With Muschamp I remember the year Jake Bentley came on the scene and made an impressive splash to get some eyeballs back on the Gamecock program with even their announcer or someone saying the Gamecocks are back and they are going up while Clemson who had the QB after Watson and before Lawrence is on a downward trajectory. (I can't remember the exact quote I just remember seeing a highlight vid where they ran the soundbyte over and over again.) After Clemson beat them pretty solid that game there was no more "we're back" talk and a few years later they fire Muschamp and hire Beamer. Now Beamer is definitely a great hype man and seems to be a genuinely good guy, but he's never had HC experience or been thought of as an X's and O's guy. What Dabo did at Clemson is honestly one of the more impressive feats in recent history IMO so I'm not sure trying to replicate something like that is the wisest move. But two years ago they catch fire at the end of the season in Rattler's junior season and seem to be building something, only to have the floor fall out from under them last year. Now Rattler is gone and an unknown is taking over. I didn't really see any unit last year get better with the o-line a mess, the better WRs leaving, and the loss of some players through the portal. The defense looked lost all season long. Without a doubt the SEC is a killer to go through and you have to be at the top of your game week in and week out, but South Carolina fans pump their chest with the "SEC SEC SEC" chants louder than Bama and UGA even though they are seen as bottom to mid tier. That's the point of my post. That this program historically hasn't been near the top of the conference other than the 3 years Spurrier got them there, but the majority of the fanbase believes they are/should be and loves reminding people that they are in the best football conference in the country. With that belief, do they hold on to Beamer for the long haul or make changes if they don't take a huge step forward this year? I'm with you on the mindset that they should stay the course with him but there are plenty of fans in Columbia that believe they should be on that upper tier and think they can attract any big name they want.
