That's not a punching bag. That is a top load, military style, duffle bag.
There is no way anyone who's not a bodybuilder could so easily along a punching bag of that size over their shoulder, and not fall backwards.

I like to think that Marty's 1955 pay phone call to Doc Brown (before arriving at his home) was what caused Doc to slip while hanging the clock. That way, Marty would have inadvertently helped Doc Brown invent the very time travel that would send him back to 1955 to make that phone call.

This would create a paradox. If the phone call is what caused him to slip and fall, then how did Marty originally get there to make the phone call? The future cannot happen before the past. The events of how he created time travel cannot include Marty, as these events need to be separate in order for Marty to able to be a part of them.

It happens as Marty plays Johnny b goode though. ^^

    • @jeffreycarman2185
      @jeffreycarman2185 11 місяців тому +14

The explanation I’ve heard from somewhere, is that over time his new present would become _his_ present. Similar to how that the photo of his siblings started to fade away while he was in 1955 and his life was being erased by a change in 1955, his old life memories (from his original childhood) would fade and all Marty would be able to remember eventually would be his new life (after his life changed due to his going back in time).
They could have canonized this in the later entries, but they didn’t. So we’re just left to guess.

Spielberg wasn't worried someone would use a fridge to survive a nuke, he was worried kids would climb into refrigerators. That's a legit fear because children have gotten trapped in abandoned refrigerators before. Ones left out in places like a junkyard.
Older fridges had a latch on the outside only so they can't be opened from the inside and even newer ones are still an issue because the door could get blocked. There were even PSAs about it. Spielberg had a good point.

I've always felt like there was a huge room for error, as they really had a full 60 seconds to account for the lightning strike and the Doc's plan was so precise.
(I know, I know... I'll shut up now. A little suspension of disbelief goes a long way towards enjoying a film.)

The Doc Brown/Marty relationship may be based on Prof. Lidenbrock and his nephew Axel in Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth. In the 1959 movie, Alec McEwan is a student of Prof. Lindenbrook and engaged to his niece, Jenny. Notice that Marty McFly's girlfriend is called Jennifer.
Neither Jenny/Jennifer join the hero on his adventures.
In Part 3, Doc Brown reveals that Jules Verne is his favorite writer and names his children Jules and Verne.

Incredible breakdown! Back to the future was the second film I ever saw when I was three years old right next to an HBO recording of the sandlot and it continues to be my favorite film of all time. And little nuggets of information I heard from this break down completely blows me away. It’s pretty common knowledge that Eric Stoltz was originally meant to play Marty but I had no idea that they had another actress for Jeniffer as well in the form of Jan from the office. Can’t wait to see the other two film breakdown.

The Hill Valley sign in the town square also contains another nice detail. In the 1955 version, it is positively plastered with the logos of service clubs like Lions International and the Rotary Club, who presumably all have branches in the town. This serves to emphasise both how prosperous and how community-minded the citizens of Hill Valley are. In the 1985 version, those logos are conspicuously absent, illustrating how the town has fallen on much harder times.

The concern of the fridge was that on the films release there were many fridges still in use and in junkyards that shut via a latch and couldn't be opened from within. An issue not addressed till around 1960. Any kid who climbed in couldn't get out again and unless found, would die of asphyxiation - something that sadly occurred all too often.

Suffocation deaths in refrigerators is a real thing and that's why you're required to remove the door when discarding one. What's changed is kids aren't outside playing hide and seek and most people are having refrigerators removed with the purchase of a new one instead of putting it on the curb themselves.

Is the point you're trying to make that if a person tells a single joke then that means EVERYTHING they say is a joke and they can never be trusted to be honest? Because that's dumb. It's not the same actor. They even said that it's a common misconception that it's the same actor. The whole point of the interview I saw was them trying to clear up misconceptions about the films. They were clarifying things that people considered plotholes or just general questions people had.

The 1955 mayor and Red the bum are not supposed to be the same character.
The Brown mansion didn't burn down because of the fire extinguisher being emptied in the demonstration for Marty. The mansion also burned down in the unaltered timeline (where the ledge on the clock tower is still intact and the mall is still the Twin Pines Mall) without Doc interacting with Marty.
36:32 "Now back at Doc's we see he's trying to watch the end of the tape but he refuses to hear what happens next. However, as we know, he'll eventually play it." That sounds like the tape had something to do with him knowing about his fate, but he learns that from the letter. He actually watched the tape to the end in that scene: Marty stops filming when Doc screams to him that he should run, and we hear that when 55 Doc plays the tape. Somehow many people seem to think that Marty had filmed Doc being killed.
40:22 "And Marty tells Lorraine his true name." He already told her when she pointed out the name on his underwear. In fact, in this scene here he doesn't even mention his name.
40:32 There is another reason for this composition. Michael J. Fox is short, and having the much taller Crispin Glover or Chris Lloyd in the background makes it look less awkward for them when they talk to each other. (The height difference is also the reason why Doc is often hunched over when he stands next to Marty.)

41:22 The Delorian not starting is a easter egg referring to the reliability of the car.
The car had a steel exterior but a composite chassis which could not provide ground for the 12V system.
So the engineers put in special ground points , wich corroded after a short time , leading to problems with all the electronics in the car.
There was an story of the CEO stuck in the car for several minutes during a presentation due the electric door locks not working any more cause of a depleted 12V battery.

When I walked out of the movie there were cops all over and one starting staring at me then started chasing me. I ran and ran while he kept yelling stop but I was terrified. I finally did stop after 10 of them circled me in the food court. Come to find out my mother thought I had been kidnapped and there were over 300 Mesa police looking EVERYWHERE for me. The cop asked me, "why did you run"? I told him, "you were chasing me!" Anyways, it was a great trilogy.

Also are you aware that there are several moments in the bttf trilogy where marty supposedly died and doc had to go back in time and restart the timeloop from a certain point to save martys life?
Like in bttf pt.2 when marty jumps off of the casino before biff can shoot him doc is mysteriously able to predict when and where he needs to be to catch marty jumping off the building.
Another time in the second movie towards the end. When marty is trying to hoverboard through the tunnel while being chased by biff. Doc knows when and where to drop a line down to save marty. The implications being biff ran marty down like a dog in the street. Also doc uses a strand of flags from the construction on lyon estates from the beginning of the movie. The only way doc would know to save the rope and when and where he would need it is if he watched marty die several times.
Its even implied he knew he would need to save marty at the beginning of the first bttf movie like he knew marty would try to save him, because of the time paradox of doc having the note in his pocket. So the theory goes... that doc spent all of bttf 2 saving marty because marty saved doc with the note in the first movie. Which makes sense when you remember the third movie had marty traveling back to the old west to save doc yet again. Only to have marty die and end up in clint eastwoods grave which causes doc to save him again, and the third movie is essentially them saving each other.

I've been hearing those theories for a while, but there's absolutely no proof to any of them in any of the movies showing that it's all fan fiction instead. If you start adding unneeded explanations for "how did Doc know to be there?!" for things, then you may as well start using that EVERYWHERE in the movie besides just those specific points. "How did happen so perfectly? Oh, that's because Doc had to go back in time multiple times to make sure it all worked out!"

There’s a 60 second window that it could have struck, and it’s only going to strike it at that exact split second. So did it strike at 10:04 and 15 seconds? 10:04 and 39 seconds?? How did they manage to precisely know within a millisecond when it would strike? Plus the Delorean stalls when the timer goes off so he was already going to be late.
