I remember this past summer I was helping my friend do some landscaping for his business and I asked where his whipper snipper was and he look at me like I was crazy. I watch this channel so much I drew a blank on string trimmer and said whipper snipper.
How far you’ve come from first telling us you were going to build a golf green and to where you’re at now. It’s been a journey! Great work sir and thanks for giving us our Friday Night entertainment here in the US.
@@strictlymitch I have a ‘good’ residential lawn and look after it every weekend but when laying it only did one sow with divot mix on the bare patches. It never ceases to amaze me how far you go on lawn maintenance if you wish
Always find myself checking daily for your video. I've followed this project from your first post and really enjoy every minute. Can't wait to see the first shot! Cheers from Colorado!
Great video and I'm very excited to see the results. Just remember that 99% of your viewers can not afford to do what you do nor get equipment and product for free. Congrats for making it where you are now.
Wow Wow Wow, well thought out and slick operation Ben. I cant believe how fine the seed is, imagine sowing this without water !! lol. Like everyone else I am so looking forward to seeing this germinate. It should be hardy too with "James Bond" 007 mixed in Lol.
I’m so stoked for you Benny can see the hard work starting to pay off still so much to go we got fairways tee boxes I can’t wait to see you hit your first ball into the green and nail and hole in one !!
Unfortunately it's the same green at all. 16 at Augusta has a huge slope, it also has another tier if your looking at the front on the right side hence the front right and back right pins they have at the masters. This is cool but it's going to need a lot to be fast, cutting it short doesn't cut it.
@@LawnTips cultivar of bentgrass used? I can't find any offering with the bucket you had, unless that was used from something else...I hope you used one of these....A1, A4, 007, 007XL, 777, 777XL or anything else seeing great results, that varies best jnformation can be iffy at times
Awesome Ben. It's been fantastic watching all this come together, keep up the good work man. Yes I'm a grass weirdo and all your tips have educated me through the the last few years👍 can't wait to see your first shot into green dude 😀 👍
I’m more excited to see that green germinate than I am when they start revealing the guys at the beginning of a season of the Bachelorette….. I mean…. Uhh….. 😳
Is this a good time to remind you how much I hate Thatch? Thanks for the advice you’ve given me in the past about it. Your little project is looking mint.
What’s your plan for the bunker? I’m assuming it’s important to get all the stuff you’re doing now done first then once it’s established build the bunker?
Can’t wait for it to be coming in!!! I’m not sure if you watch Connor ward at all but he soaked his seed in water for a week or so before he put his out. But he changed the water each day. If we were going to soak it in product (urs or just a seasol type thing) would u think if it was going to be more then 1 day you would need to change the water? Or if it was going to be pre soaked for nearly a week the same water with products in it is fine?
@@LawnTips you should have a look, looks like you’ve done a better job mixing it with fertiliser and fungicide. It’s looking really good. Great learning from you mate
Hey man! Just found your channel. I'm putting a 1400sf green in my backyard right now. How did you know when the rootzone was compact enough? I'm wetting, rolling and grading at the moment and not sure how to tell when compact enough.
Been wondering this for a while. What do you do with the root barrier that is still above ground? Trim it back at the soil level once the rye and bent are established separately?
Will trim back around 1 inch below soil level. Will be good to have the barrier to seperate the sand and soil. Plus it will prevent tree roots coming into the green as well. Can prevent leaching of water and nutrients into the surrounding soils as well.
Lmao I had a spill yesterday but it was 5kg of couch seed on a section im not seeding lol the string that ties the sack shut unraveled around the whole bag and just dumped it
@@LawnTips I stopped watching because I figured why would he tell us now if he didn't at the start. Those are all Super Bents, you know what that means right? You need to verticut every two weeks to control thatch and lightly top dress.. mowing at .1005 is best or slightly higher after it grows in. 007 has scalping issues is you don't do the verticutting and top dress for some reason. This is also where the speed comes from but of course double cutting, rolling and growth regulators can also help. It's disappointing you didn't really match the Augusta green with how much you've already done. It would of be awesome to have a 1:1 to scale.
@@LawnTips have you seen this hole from the 70s? It looks much different, the pond came out into the fairway or in-between tee and green so much more, very little walking ground. I enjoy going back each year to try and find small changes they make. These newer Bentgrass cultivars produce so much thatch that's why verticutting is needed so much or disease because a huge problem
Wheelie bin...whipper snipper 🤣 Man..I love Australia
I haven’t heard anyone call it a whipper snipper since my uncle. Love it. 😂😂😂

My wife’s English and she calls it a strimmer 😅

The day that you can cut the green and the surround is going to be epic. You have put in a lot of work, congrats man!!!
So good!
Shane about the wind but all over it! 🤘🏁
Mate I can’t believe the greens at Augusta get this much tlc and attention to detail. Can’t wait to see it growing
Crazy part is the greens and grass in general on those courses get 10 times the attention

Have you thought about recycling the water that runs out the ag pipe into the dam to keep the nutrients going round in circles?
I have actually. I’ll be pumping from the dam into the tanks again. I’ve got some fittings to set it all up. Just haven’t installed it
What are you thinking the expected germination times will be? First cuts etc
you've been watching Conor ward, soaking the seed before planting it!!
Haha nah. I actually haven’t seen Connor’s vid about that

Hey mate where can I get that stuff you put down on top of the sand before seeding the bent? Is it just a granular fert or what exactly is it?
Wheelie good vid.
Where did you get your bentgrass seed from? And what variety is it??

Did you put down weed control before you seeded the bent?
Ooooooo yeahhhhh
What are the ryegrass cultivars?
Hey mate where can I get some glyphosate to kill off the weeds & grass before I seed my green?
Hoping I can still seed bent early April in nsw
Hey mate, I sell some if you are interested? lawntips.net/product/glyphosate/
You’ll just need two months before frosts
wouldn't it have been better to put a roller over it to make it flat and smooth and remove those tire marks or wouldn't that make much difference?
Mate! 👌 S'all I can say at this point.
Let me know when I need to get my ticket to play :)
👍👍
Are you planning to overseed using the same process?
🌱🔥

We are identical twins so I guess that makes sense 😉
What cultivar of bentgrass did you use...you should always say

It's sand, it won't hold nutrients that well.
