I've had many hats in my time. So when it came to spending $69 for a Mellin Hat, I was skeptical. After 2 years of having one, I have added it to my collection. Not only do I show you the features of the hat, but I also show you how to clean your Melin Hat.

Nah FIN has the best hats on the market hands down.
FIN aren’t better than Melin… 🤦♂️ Finn makes one decent hat that is on the level with what Melin makes. Melin has tons of colors to pick from and four or five different styles of hats. FIN simply just doesn’t. The hats that they have that aren’t the $55 one just plain suck.
Have one right now with sweat stains and was wondering how to wash it…. such a perfect timed video! Keep the reviews coming!

I wear mine into the shower and wash with shampoo, comes out new every time-
These hats are amazing. People always ask me why do I only wear a certain hat or shirt, I tell them that I know what I like and I found it. 10 hats later, Melin is still my favorite hat and customer service is truly one of the best.
I've had mine for years now and they still look new.
First of all thanks for your military service from another service member. My son bought a Melin hat and keeps encouraging me to take the plunge. Your video convinced me to purchase one. So thank you for making a great one.

Great review of the hat. I've purchased 3 so far. The fit and look is amazing and I love the hats...BUUUT, my first 2 have oil/sweat stains in areas that I just cannot seem to get rid of. The stains unfortunately make me question wearing them some times which I hate. My recent hat (Coronado Hydro dark charcoal) has been my absolute favorite hat, but it's now recently collecting similar stains after 7 months or so and again, it's like the stains become permanent (yes, I've tried cleaning them). And honestly, I've never had this issue with hats before. I'm at a point where I don't feel I can justify spending the price for another one though. That's my only issue, which many don't seem to have according to their reviews. But it's something to keep in mind if you've had issues with sweat/oil stains with previous hats. They're still the best looking hats around in my opinion.
Interesting. I have that hat as well, looking at mine it's time to wash it again. Now I need to check to see if my sweat stains come out.
Just bought 2 of them. One in black and grey. Love them and the way they feel on my head. Great quality
They are the only ones I wear.
Hey man, great review! I like how you showed how these hats hold up after a wash, that was helpful. A hats durability after wash and its ability to keep its shape is important for me.

I agree, these hats ain't cheap. Though - I have a lot of discarded hats because of the same situation you describe. I have a smaller head, so appreciate they have some smaller options. If I am to be critical, it would be that the 'small' size hats seem to only be small in terms of circumference - the A-game Hydro still has too deep a fit for me. That said, it's still the best fitting hat I've tried.

In Los Angeles, 90% of men wear New Era ball caps, and the reason they keep the stickers/decal on them are for that exact same reason; to keep the oils on your finders off the brim/visor of your cap. Nice addition Melin adds

Just bought one of the stacked hydro odyssey’s in black camo. Hoping I like it. I have a million hats but have a hard time finding ones that I really love! I wear a hat everyday so figured it’d be nice to have one really good hat that I love & wear regularly outside of work. I don’t want it to get messed up at work
I still wear these hats today and swear by them. You will be pleased.
Great review. I'm thinking about buying one. The only other expensive ball cap I've purchased is the Alpaka Gear Element Cap. I'll be curious to see how the Melin hats compare to that one. Since this video, I own even more Melin hats. I just throw them all either on the top shelf in my coat closet or on a hat hook. I literally treat these hats as if they are $10 hats and they still look great.

Picked up the new A-Game MSLX Hydro with non-adjustable flex fitting hat from the flagship store in Laguna Beach. I also have the Odessey and they both fit great. However, the new MSLX is a game changer. Has a wider bill than the standard A-Game Hydro and a new sweat diverter built into the headband at the front. Diverts sweat to the sides verses down into your face. Absolute perfect fit and feel. Not too tight or loose, they should have called it the "A-Game Changer". Needless to say, the quality of the hat is above all hat standards. Not available online as these hats are in Beta, only available in Laguna Beach.
Lucky! Since I live in Chicago, my only options are the ones I can get online.

Love mine. I got lucky and got my first one at 50% off. And it’s way easier to wash than my regular method of using the molded hat cleaning holder that you pop in the washer. A total PITA.

I got a big head and it’s hard to find hats that fit right. Your right on washing hats they are mostly never the same and sometimes you will get a hat and it will fit ok at first then it like it gets smaller over time. I just picked up a melin hat today and so far it’s good 👍

This is really interesting. I'm a fellow bald guy and I have a massive head - how are these for UV protection? I need ventilation as I run hot, but I also want my scalp protected. I contacted Melin and they said they're UPF 50, but the perforations let sun in. It might be the right balance though as I'd steam my brain in something without holes. How's your experience been? Are they like nice versions of those mesh trucker caps or do they offer more sun protection?
I have been wearing these hats for 2 years now, never got a sunburn from wearing them thank god. NOT like the mesh trucker hats. Since this video I have purchased many of these hats, they are the only ones I wear.
Are there places where they make them in the US? Been trying to find a good wool baseball cap.

These damn hats become an addiction! I have 4 of them now... 3 Coronado's and a Heather Grey A Game like yours.... I wear the A Game at work everyday and my Coronados are set aside for going out, boating, Golfing... etc. more of my "dress" hats i guess you could call them! ha But the A Game is my super trooper everyday work hat! I May do a 1 year review like you did with mine and continue to do reviews on it throughout the years and see how long it really can last through some brutal elements of blue collar work life!
hahaha... I think I have 5 now. Heather Grey, black camo (bought another one), normal camo, OD Green and the new A Game thermo. So I understand about the addiction. Once you have a legit hat, you just want more of them.

I didn't realize about the little hidden storage part until someone told me. I cover that in the cold weather I reviewed. I also didn't know that it floats as I have not had it fall off my head into water. Good to know!

As a dude with a big head, I love my melin hat. I just don’t care for the bottle cap looking patch under the brim on the hat. I wish it was easy to take off

I had the same issue with some hats but all the dri fit style hats I have I wash and have no issue with those ones fitting any different after washing
I have tried dri fit hats as well. They look weird on me before they are even washed.

I have so many sweat stains that don’t wash out like they say they do… I have a bunch with the same issue. Holds its shape yes. Washed it and left water stains lol

@@scotthardesty I wish I could say the same thing. In my opinion it’s a 35 dollar hat. I was sold a jumped in head first. There scout hat and waxed hats are the only ones that seem to hold there promise. The hats with the flaps a garbage. Made in china
Is tbat "button" on the underside of the brim removable at all? Feel like that would slightly be in my line of sight and bug me.

I wish they could get the price down a little. 40 would be perfect. I'll get one at 70 bucks, but not 4 or more like I do with the 20 dollar hats to have different colors.
I get it. It's definitely an investment but I don't wear any other baseball hat than these.
You get what you pay for. Socks, underwear, shirts and now hats are a no compromise for me. I recently discovered vuori clothing for men and I don’t want anything else. Darn tough socks and tommy John underwear. I just bought my first melin hat and I’m loving it. I’ve had countless hats over the years and sweat stains have been the biggest enemy, plus losing shape. 70 is steep but we’ll worth it if it holds its weight in value.

Not being mean but it appears to me that you head is too big. The sides are being maxed out causing the upper collapse.
Good point. but those hats are adjustable, and my wife now wears these hats so they were probably set to her head. Either way, the look was still the same when they were adjusted to me. Good eye.
