Just got the stacked hydro in olive/khaki. The fit, finish and feel is supurb. Haven't worn it much yet, wasn't even aware of the water repelling/stain fighting features. Good to know. Picked it up on a whim with bonus cash on the Shop app. Got the hat and 3 hat case for like $70. Great score and you can fit an extra hat and a beanie in the case. Great for throwing in the 4x4 and not worrying about your favorite hats getting dirty or crushed. Aside from the branding my only gripe is it's not made in the USA. As a union worker I try to buy USA made as much as possible and I feel like at this price point it would be a given. That said, it's hands down the nicest cap style hat I own including several USA made hats. Great review man. I too would change brakes in a $70 hat.😎
I just wish the bottom of the rim wasn't Grey, I understand that it has the puck thing to take it off but that just doesn't always happen somtimes. Cleaned off pretty well with a magic eraser but still had some dark spots after handling it at work.
Thanks for the review. I agree with pretty much everything you said. I have a bunch of Melin hats and stopped buying them for a while due to the price but after going through many other brands I’ve come back to Melin. Branded Bills might be the closest competition but I think Melin is better.
@@EventheWavesYT I have a bunch of Branded Bills, quality is not as good imho, so while it's cheaper, there is a reason for it, and I'm talking about their top of the line models, not the cheaper ones. If you email me a shipping label, I'll give you some of my BB for free.
I really like their hats in terms of quality. I actually own about 30 of them. The issue I have which may cause me to stop buying them is that I actually prefer trucker style hats in general, but the top of the Odyssey models poke up really high on my head. As such, I’ve purchased a bunch of the Coronado hats, although I really do prefer curved brims instead of the flat brims found on the Coronado models. I just can’t seem to find the perfect model with Melin hats. Thinking about going back to my older, more traditional trucker hats that I’ve owned for years
I'm about to buy 3 of their hats, the white captain, olive odyssey brick camo, and finally the black hat that you have. Just curious, has your black hat faded? I see mixed reviews of folks who have had theirs fade, I regularly wash my performance hats or don't wear them all the time and I'm wondering if they're anti fading
I have had them now for over a year. I have jumped in the pool, ocean, sand, grease, dirt, roadtrips you name it and I have not seen them fade. I know it’s expensive, but it was worth the investment for me! 🤙🏼
I like the Odyssey as well but I don't want the front forward facing logo.. I'm cool with everything else but seriously they should be giving us a discount for advertising the brand. cool name btw
Great quality and the materials are great, but Melin does not make a hat that I like. The depth on the two hats that I have owned are to shallow. The two hats that I am talking about are the Odyssey and the A game hydro. I did size up to a XL on the odyssey, it still would not fit, it was to shallow, oh I did have a lot room on the sides but that did nothing for the hat to sit properly and on my head. There has to be 10,000 other reviewers that had the same problem that I had so I just moved on and went to Brandon bills hats
Totally! If you wanted you could buy 2 crappy hats for the price of one. I would rather pay a little bit more for one hat that I will have for a year or more! 🤙🏼
@@EventheWavesYT Shopping from the website, shipping puts it a lil out of my range. Fortunately, my local surf shop was stocked up on a bunch of Melins. I picked up a black/gum Odyssey, and a rope bull Odyssey. Stoked
@@EventheWavesYT so I’m from Northern California. After my surf session with my friends, we decided to go to the local O’Neill shop that’s I found the hats in the display area soon as I picked it up I couldn’t help but notice how amazing it felt and then I saw the price tag and I was like holy fuck they’re almost $100, but I tried it on my big head. I fell in love size is perfect but the XL fits even better and looks better but they didn’t have the color I want. They only had like these blue and black cap so I went online and just ordered one, but now I see other selection and colors I might just place another order.
Love it! They are super comfortable! Yeah $100 is steeeeep for a hat! But I have had my 3 for over a year and they show no wear. Saves money over time!

Love it brother! I’m a firefighter also in the union. Not super stoked that it’s not made in the USA but I am stoked with the quality! 🤙🏼
Hat fits you great! About to purchase one! Thank you.
I personally love wearing the Hydro Coronado!

For sure buddy! It would definitely be nice to be all black!

Too good! People keep saying to try BB. I guess I’m going to have to try it out!
Thanks for the kind words!

Totally agree! I have a combination of hats that I rotate. 🤙🏼
Any of the flat brims can be curved. Takes some time but the flat can be shaped to curved. I have a few and worked on all of them.
What shirt are you wearing?
This is a High Street Deli Sweatshirt from High Street Deli in San Luis Obispo California! In the B-Roll it’s a really outdated quicksilver shirt. 🤙🏼
@ thanks for the reply and the review on the hat gonna go pick one up this week
@cadenadefuerza Thanks for the comment! And you won’t regret it! 🤙🏼
What shades are they? I like the combo looks good.
I like how he liked your comment but didn't tell you lol
Thanks for the 2nd comment, apparently my reply never went through! They are called Woodies off Amazon.
One heck of a hat. Dad said wow on the price.😂
Yeah it’s crazy!
Anyone suggest which size Odyssey to but for a 60.5cm head?
I usually wear Yupoong snapbacks with the rear closure halfway closed.
According to Melin’s size guide you are an XL fit 🤙🏼

Absolutely! No worries!
Cool hats. I’m enjoying wearing tbem
For sure! They are really comfortable!
@@EventheWavesYT oh and when it’s hot I soak them in water and wear them and they they naturally dry and they still look great
@briantran3791 that’s an awesome idea!
I just got one of these for Disney next month. Hoping I find it is worth the money as you did,.
I really don’t want to like them, because of how expensive they are, but I do really like them. You won’t be let down.
What size are you typically on fitted hats and on melin?
7 1/4” and I’m a Classic fit 🤙🏼
Are they tall hats?
They are just a little taller than say your every day hat, but they have a style that is more of a baseball cap/everyday hat as well.
Who changes brakes in a $70 hat?
Haha love it dude! I do and it still looks great. I use the heck out of the hat. Just yesterday I was swimming in the pool with the kids. No issues
lol more power to you..I’m getting one , my sweat is as potent as break fluid great review
@John-wq7rt haha you won’t be disappointed!
