    I just purchased this awesome machine. The only problem I’m having is with the midi connection. I’m trying to daisy chain a microkorg to it, but can’t seem too get a signal. What am I doing wrong?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 роки тому

      Hi Brian. Daisy chaining implies that there are at least three devices connected. If you're just trying to play the microKORG from the Matriarch's keyboard you need to go from the Matriarch's MIDI Out to the microKORG's MIDI In. Then they MUST be set to the same MIDI Channel (which can go from Ch# 1 - 16). If they are not the same, the receiving device will not play MIDI that's on another channel. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_

    I'm between this beauty and the Minibrute 2S. I have read from users that when it comes to eurorack capabilities, the MB2S is more flexible, has more knobs which make it more versatile from the get go (and of course, it's cheaper), but at the same time... Grandma is a beauty, better sound, built quality, spring reverb, etc. One of those 2 is going to be my first physical synth, I'm not a novice, I understand the basis of synthesis and I have used software before. Please, help me decide.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 років тому +1

      Hi Purr Snickety. Audio is audio. Your Grandmother won't care if it's from another synth, a drum machine, or a smart phone. The crucial factor is if the device sending audio to the Grandmother is loud enough. If it's not, just get a preamp in between to boost the level. Thanks for watching!

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 років тому +2

      Hi inshreds. One thing I can clarify is that, other the occasional ping-pong delay and volume changes to keep my voice out front, no other audio post-processing was applied to the Grandmother. For the most possible low frequencies, be sure to keep the Low Pass Filter's Resonance low or fully counterclockwise. Thanks for watching!

    Like all such videos the most obvious shortcomings are overlooked. At the start he actually says envelopes
    when there is only one a fact neglected in many other reviews. How can you justify just one envelope in this
    context. Presumably its a project compromise dictated by having to come in at a preset price point as per
    the Behringer Poly D not actually being polyphonic at all as defined by anyone other than the fanboys
    (Doty) defending that particular project compro,mise shortfall of what was clearly planned due to
    cost problems. Though to be fair Moog does not make fatuous indefensible claims about the actual product
    in the advertising copy. But even so it is pretty hard to think of a full fledged synth out there with just one
    envelope on board.
