I am a subject matter expert in all things aviation with 58 plus years as a pilot, retired after 29 years as a pilot for a major airline who currently flies a corporate jet at 75, and have been a flight instructor for the past 55 years. I grew up in Palo Alto about the same time you were there. I married and divorced a Stanford graduate. After the divorce I walked into the unemployment office in Palo Alto and my life changed forever. That was back in the 1970's when they decided to place women in traditionally men's positions. I was always a person who would try anything, so I agreed to work at the maintenance yard for the city's utilities. I went from accounting to electrical and eventually water treatment for the Bay Area. I'm here to say it was horrible and I do not believe in DEI and I do not believe men and women are equal nor should work together in certain fields. There wasn't a year of my career where I was sexually harassed or assaulted, stalked, demeaned, and discriminated against. I stayed to provide for my children until they were grown. The work environment was extremely toxic for a celibate, straight, single, white female whose focus was work and children and SF HR was not interested in making the environment less hostile. San Francisco might seem like they would be supportive of the 'Me Too' movement but that's far from the truth; because they blame the victim first. The first time I went to SF HR, Gavin Newsom was banging his secretary, so the sexual harassment policy was pretty lax and I got turned away. The HR woman, Linda Cole, told me she was a black female and had it worse than me and for me to go back to work. I continued to be degraded for years, unable to get the attention of HR because Linda Cole wasn't interested in my problems. I finally got their attention when my supervisor handed me evidence HR could not dismiss. It was a video of him with sexual content. I was finally able to sue and retire but I only got 2 years pay and was blackballed from working in the California water industry because I became a liability. DEI and equal opportunity is not fair or right. Men don't want you in the man's club and there's no way to fit into their pecking order. It appears lesbians have grouped together but they don't like straight women either.
Back in the seventies my Dad was passed over for promotion with 15 years of experience for a new hire to fulfill a hiring quota. He never forgot it and neither did we. He asked about it with his superiors and they told him their hands were tied.

I once worked on a reservation in the oil and gas industry and to do work on the rez we were required to have 20% of our crews be native. The natives on this rez were hands down the worst employees I've ever worked with because they knew as long as they showed up, they couldn't be fired. They were 100% insubordinate and would sleep and play on their phones in the work truck for the entire 12hr shift.

You fail to consider the whole process of the employment at FAA. You’ve hit only the first part, hiring based upon DEI. But there is a second aspect to employment, one that just about every job has-performance and retention. We need an investigation which considers if an air traffic controller who under performs is kept employed based upon their DEI profile. That’s the essence of the problem really. Any employee, even non-DEI, can be found inadequate to the task upon hire, training, and supervision on the job. Given recent DEI scandals, it seems any number of these people have been show-long before critical job failure-to not be up to the standards of the job description, yet never taken to task until too late.

What if they said there were too many black football players in the NFL, so the team owners were told they have to hire more white men, no matter how much better the black men are. It’s only fair to give white men a better chance to play in the NFL. If you owned a NFL team, wouldn’t you want to draft the best players?? Who cares what nationality they are??!

Mr. Hanson - I especially enjoy and appreciate the way you present the situation, explanations of how and why this came to be, and a very good reason of why President Trump 'stirs the pot ', and just how not knowing a situation background leaves many folk thinking shallow, possibly being misled to incorrect attitudes by our slowly transitioning media. How she held level flight for so long along the flight path, then starts climbing from a max ceiling of 200 ft to at least 350 feet at impact is a mystery. The copilor requested Special VFR "Maintain Visual" of the airplane, and repeated it twice to the Air Traffic Controller, relieving the ATC of responsibility for colliding, since the helicopter co pilot stated they had the airplane in sight. Helicopters have ZERO business flying in the funnel airspace of take off and landing areas at airports, and should maintain a minimum of 5 miles lateral separation from the end of the runways of the airport.
How could one man have that much knowledge tucked inside his brain? The answer is Victor Davis Hansen. Just brilliant!!!

Early DEI military history; Kara Hultgreen was the first female fighter pilot. The navy, who she was a part of wanted to surpass the Army in the goal of having the 1st female fighter pilot. Lt Hultgreen was passed thru critical tests that she underperformed in to achieve this goal. She was ultimately assigned to a carrier based F-14 squadron. While coming in for a trap (landing) on the USS Lincoln in October of 1994 she made a foolish mistake, crashed her jet and died.

You fail to consider the whole process of the employment at FAA. You’ve hit only the first part, hiring based upon DEI. But there is a second aspect to employment, one that just about every job has-performance and retention. We need an investigation which considers if an air traffic controller who under performs is kept employed based upon their DEI profile. That’s the essence of the problem really. Any employee, even non-DEI, can be found inadequate to the task upon hire, training, and supervision on the job.
Given recent DEI scandals, it seems any number of these people have been show-long before critical job failure-to not be up to the standards of the job description, yet never taken to task until too late.
Praise God for President Trump who will ask the hard questions. Promotion of incompetence leads to more fatalities.
How can anyone dispute wanting the most qualified person that carries the responsibility of your life??!!!
