Not gonna lie, I kinda cringed at the intro but this is finally a helpful video. Nicely condensed, clever basic explanations, was immediately able to jump back into making music, it just works. Great job!

where did you get the "MPE Mapping" device at 0:26? I can't find it anywhere through Googling/in my Suite 11 devices..

This is a complete mystery. I can't find it anywhere? Really weird, I'm totally stumped? This is an important device because it allows non MPE controllers to control MPE instruments. Yet, I can't find it either, not on the Web nor anywhere... I have no idea. [UPDATE: scroll down this thread to see @pipizondersnuif1335 response. He found it!]

BRO I FOUND IT!. took me a sec, this used to be a max for live device which got discontinued after some ableton 11 update. eXp++ is the device you're looking for.

Hi and thanks for the video.
    I have 8 notes in a 8 bar melody.
The push 2 have 8 knobs. After assigning release from a plug in to MPE edit, can I assign each note to a knob on the push 2 and use the 8 knobs to control release to each note simultaneously?
    For example
    1st note>1st knob on push 2>
    2nd note>2nd knob on push 2
    3rd note >3rd knob on push 2
    knob to controlling release (1-127)
    1st note >10 > set by 1st knob
    2nd note>127> set by 2nd knob

Interesting idea. How about using the Macro controls in an Instrument Rack for this task? The macros automatically show up on Push's knobs when you select the track.

Hi! I just bought a second hand push 2 and I'm having an issue where when I'm holding a pad and apply more pressure, the note will retrigger. Is this normal? Everyone says it isn't, but on your video when you are doing it the note also seems to retrigger.

The pads are after touch sensitive. So, you can apply a modulation with pressure on a pad. Whether the instrument you're playing responds to automation depends on the patch you have loaded. So, the question is, does this happen on all of the pads whether you're trying to launch clips or play a MIDI instrument? Because, clips can also be set to a re-trigger launch mode. Otherwise, the pads shouldn't be doing this and might have dirty contacts under the hood. Hope this helps.

Do you know if this works with Push v1?

    • @ErikHawk
      @ErikHawk  3 роки тому

Does Push 1 have polyphonic aftertouch? I believe it does with Live 11, right? If so, the answer is yes, but it's not true MPE because you're not accessing every MPR dimension. But having aftertouch available definitely helps.
