Beth is not only a great actress but a very sweet person that I met over 30 years ago. I remember I was on leave vacation from the Navy and visited the CBS studio. I met Beth and I had my navy ballcap so on and gave it to her as a souvenir. Beth is one of the sweetest people I ever met.
That was WONDERFUL Alan! She just has such a beautiful personality and spirit. How fortunate we are to have had her in our lives all these years as our beloved Traci Abbott! You always do such fantastic, loving interviews Alan. Thank-you to you and to the incredible Beth Maitland.

God Bless you Beth. Loving you and your character. I am a writer as well. I met Jerry where at the place I retired from. Wonderful person. I've been watching since the very beginning. My mother got me started very young when soaps were anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. Radio too. I sing old standards as well. God, I went to a Christmas Party at the Ambassador Hotel. One of my favorite experiences. I miss Gina singing on the show. That was a nice addition to the show with her owning the restaurant. Like Gloria Loring singing on One Life to Live. I was also bullied in school for being a quiet person. Hope to meet you in my future.
Traci has always been my favorite Y&R character. She deserves to be on contract with a great storyline and love interest. Lauren should help Traci find a man.
I watched a lot of Tracy Abbott's story in those days. She's a really good actress, so natural. I love when she says Jerry Douglas was the dad and "gave us advice, unwanted or not", ha ha.
Great interview, thanks again Alan for having Beth on, she's always been a favorite of mine, always happy to see her when she comes back every now and then to the show. I remember those big concerts with her, Danny and Lauren. I also remember that scene where Lauren apologized to Traci at Katherine's funeral and Danny on the side looking at them like he was so happy to see that. Great times and memories!

I love Beth Maitland. I remember the her and Eileen's first episode @16. I have followed her since. Traci Abbott and I could have been BFFs. Her character was a real person and made teenage girls feel represented and is the like me as a middle child. The one every leans on as an adult. Beth also was wonderful with all the information she gave about doing the shows like shooting 6 episodes a week from Tuesday to Friday. Wow, they work so hard. I don't think most fans realize how hard they all work.

I have watched Y&R since the beginning with my big sisters over Christmas Holidays. I was 11. Yes, Beth we have all grown up together. I would watch Y&R in college and then on my days off from work. Beth Maitland is intelligent, beautiful, joyous, articulate and gracious. Great and illuminating interview, Mr. Locher. A fantastic way to spend an hour. I'd love to meet her. I sort of felt like I just did! She's such a good actress who has great chemistry with her on-screen family. Like I told a friend, I could watch a whole episode of Traci and Jack going through boxes in the Abbott living room. And in case BM sees this -- my first soap was Dark Shadows, too. In fact, I will watching an episode on Tubi right after I finishing typing this and playing Wordle!

Beth Maitland's interview was fantastic. Love her story of becoming an actress and singer from Scottsdale Arizona and the only soap she watched was Dark Shadows. I thought she must be talking about reruns, but she was a little kid when it was original on. I was thinking she was about 10 years younger than she is. You mentioned people in the chat saying how she hasn't aged, and I agree. I rarely watch TYTR now but if she happens to be on when I do, I'm really happy to see her.

Great interview! I still remember that episode where Beth sings with Michael for the first time... they did a duet of Anne Murray's "You Needed Me", and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Beth should have had a major recording career, IMO... I've been trying to lay my hands on that episode for 20 years now, I'll get it eventually!!
Beth is an amazing actress and the heart of the Abbotts... I think the writers however need to allow her to seek justice for Colleens death....it was a sad and disturbing moment to see that Victor Newman caused Colleens death and is able to have her heart....The death of Colleen has affected Billy, JT etc and the Newman's should be responsible for such a destructive crime
