It's a refreshingly optimistic interpretation of an industrial setting. Although I say this without knowing anything about the faction's story. Such a lovely song.
this castle reminds me a lot of heroes 2 wizard. in gameplay as well :P maybe the intention of forge is to show what Enroth's wizards became in next generations. or some part of them
THIS is exactly what sets HotA apart from other town mods - the attention to quality. Other modded towns (like the various VCMI towns) can have interesting gameplay and sometimes even town screens that look almost like in the original game... but it's the music and sounds where it falls apart. The town music tends to be of low quality and either too loud or too silent... or worse, taken from some well known soundtrack. And the same goes for unit sounds, which basically makes the usual town mods unplayable with sound on.
Yes but music rights and also professionals need for those town themes . Great that HOTA team have them all! We may do Conflux (13th town) to 7.5 mod but music rights and engine mod possibilites not always good for new theme sadly.
tbh I think Cove doesn't look good. It's kinda squished together and there's not enough visual contrast. But this one looks great. If I didn't know I'd believe it's an original H3 town.
@@JN-hs5xl I kind of like that about Cove's design. The town looks like a cove with a cliff where smugglers escaped to sell their loot, which over time as the hideout became progressively more wealthy grew into a thriving criminal community. It's good visual storytelling.

This theme is objectively good: fits with the other town themes, packs memorable development into a very tight time frame, adheres to more or less the same style. One exception I'd stress out is that it's strangely... Romantic. Very inward and seems to evoke emotion and inner life (with almost tragic violins at 01:05, for example) as opposed to the faction's outward attributes and characteristic flavor. ...What exactly in this music ties it to the Factory, and not something else?
It is kinda romantic in campaign - the Inventor, Romantic-imagineer halfling and her folk suffered an kreegan invasion and still, trying to build a new home on a new continent. That's kinda tragic and inspiring at the same time.
@@randompimp8192 Necropolis are also those mages, but in spirit section. And with more capilatism. While Factory are more like free inventors, compared to strict rules in Bracada. Tower is Soviet-like university and Factory is "Tesla doing mad things, but they actually work". IMHO, of course, but since Yogg campaign from NWC and some of Horn of the Abyss texts are moving towards that direction (and Factory slaps hardly on that even in first scenario), I bet, there is some truth in that.
My daughter has been begging me to find a way to install the "Factory" town into H3 HOTA, lol. :) I'm hoping that it will soon be available. Thank you to all who have been involved in the addition/patch, or whatever it is considered to be! I also need to start DL'ing a lot more maps which support HOTA, Cove, and that sort of thing. I can't believe how far it's all come since "King's Bounty" (JVC and NWC from the 80's!!!). Wow. +3 MORALE!!

Wow I always pictured this town as being a mix of robots and zombies (idk maybe it was an alternate mod) and not a throwback to the Heroes 2 Wizard faction! Now I'm actually keen to try playing them!

The entire development team is very cool. This was done entirely by a Russian team. Everything about this project was a success. The word Soundtrack does not reflect the essence of the game's soundtrack. This is truly magical, enchanting music, comparable only to Tchaikovsky. It is very fortunate that a Russian composer was chosen. We have just knew new name Maigret. Remember !!!
HOTA not entirely Russian team. They confirmed that when war started, Ukrainian teammates couldn't work on project the same as before, so that's why development of Factory really slowed down and postponed to 2023-2024.

a lot of people complain a ton about this town and but I don't see anything wrong with it the armadillo is kinda ass and should've been something else, the gunslinger guy has too low health, the tier 7 mech is kind of wierd, but otherwise it's fine
If Ubisoft would have succeeded to monetarize this franchise, they would have made 500 millions dollars USD. I would do it if only I can buy the franchise for 10 millions dollars.

I will be honest, I was sceptical about the whole HotA project (why add new stuff to perfection? Thats what I saw Heroes 3 as), especially because I am not too fond of Cove, of new mechanics and abilities, breaking the mold, but the theme of Factory alone is worthy of an addition to the game.
It's used for Factory's campaign theme. IMO, his take is too understated to work as a town theme, so I agree with the HotA crew's choice to go with this theme instead.

Second half of the theme is definitely fire, first minute is underwhelming in comparison, feels more like a song intro, not like homm3 themes that are usually very recognizable from the first seconds, but overall great score.

I am a little disappointed as this version is kind of similar to Paul Romero's one, but I dont see his name anywhere here. It is clear to me that they probably used his work as insipiration for the final product and forgot to put him in somehow?
both this theme and Paul's theme are based on melody composed by Docent Picolan. They have similar parts but only because they both are a "remix" of the initial music piece

I bet, they'll try to destroy all humans if they stay in free after M&M VIII and HoMM III, not like "oh, your masters and creators trapped four of us inside 4 spheres, so we will help you because we're so kind!"
It sounds really good, almost too good. Why would a "factory" themed faction, with gears and hammers have such an enlightened orchestral sound. I think I'd go for something with a beat, more percussion symbolic of the never ending factory work.
The main popular music style during the Industrial Revolution was Romantic music. Just because a culture becomes heavily industrialized doesn't mean they want to hear it reflected in their music. People listen to music to relax and disconnect from their daily toil, not to be reminded by it. The world hasn't all switched to techno or some other "futuristic" genre just because we've moved past the year 2000 like the naive sci-fi of the 40-60s was portraying it.
@@xKinjax The entire heroes soundtrack is orchestral, nobody talking about synths. Each town has its own distinct orchestral sound: Necro, horror Rampart, nature Tower, christmas waltz etc. In that context more percussion would have been appropriate. Spicatto, Staccato articulations on brass, an exotic instrument. A work bell, like in a western or an anvil being hit at the start of every other bar or at the start of a section. This theme could fit for other factions with begs the question, why a factory themed faction? It's not as strongly associated with the faction as say the necromancer or cove faction music is to their respective towns. It doesn't scream gears and industrialization at all which is why it's not a great theme for this faction. It's good music but it doesn't fit well.

Compare this track to The Ecstacy of Gold from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and you'll catch more than a few similarities. I still think it fits. Factory isn't just about gears and technology, but also a new people settling a country in a harsh frontier.
@@murlocaggrob2192 I didn't pay enough attention to the background, the spinning star in the upper left corner. The tower with the circular windows on the right side. You could interpret those as "steampunk, height of science", (Myst the game). Then the bombastic atmospheric heightened music could fit. Read too much into the name "factory" as well as the arid beaten down look of the landscape. They should have called the faction "Science", or "Academia", not put the buildings in a dust bin. Then it would be a perfect fit. A simple color correction on the background might accomplish it. Less saturated, more white desert dunes look. It looks dirty, the music sounds clean.

Not this faction. This is Steampunk. The cancelled faction was called Forge and had cyborgs. So the idea was toned down a lot. But I find it ironic that the Factory has giant robot with laser but now people are okay with that.
Please bring back the old version that Paul Anthony Romero and Docent Picolan showed off- way better, more emotional, energetic and gets me pumped just like the Cove theme. 🙏😩 Their old renditions were Cove-level. This isn't, and sounds generic.

Just rewatched Picolan's 3-year-old sample played by Romero and that sounds better than this one. Beautiful melody got changed to generic fantasy music

nice song, but the faction is even less fitting to the game than cove was. i would love to play hota for all the balance fixes and quality of life features but i just cannot stand the masses of totally unfitting content it has that cannot be turned off. i mean who would it even hurt if would allow me choose which additional content i want to be included? if it would have such feature i would even turn off the conflux for the poorly designed unfitting mess it is.
@@Crazy-Drokonrobots, lasers and western shooters are less fitting, flamethrowers are less fitting. just as yarr pirates and cannons are less fitting to a game that was supposed to be about mythology. and just overall the creatures, towns and items lack the imagination that the official content has. it reeks the forced fan fiction content it is. i don't mind if someone else likes it but at least allow people to turn it off and just enjoy the balance and qol improvements.
@@Eye_Exist Might & Magic is a sci-fi game. Gods are technologically advanced precursors, the Kreegans are invading alien locusts, and Angels are robots built to exterminate said aliens. If you play through Factory's campaign, it marries the Heroes of Might & Magic side with the original Might & Magic games. It's VERY faithful to the original lore.

@@Eye_Exist You know the OG creators New World Computing was going to introduce Space Orcs (which the OG creators of HotA took inspiration of Factory and toned it down) after Conflux and both Devils and Angels are actually Robots, Kreegans (Devils) are from another planet like aliens right? Like it's totally a canon lore. Not to mention Mana is cosmic energy (magnetic energy to be precise) and not magic. It's a thorough Sci-fi game. On a regular basis, where Aliens can travel through space and angels being mechanical robots, Factory struggling to be a Victorian Era faction is mild at best.

Только что переслушал кусочек темы которую когда то выставлял Пол Ромеро и я считаю что она звучит в тысячу раз лучше , я понимаю что его мелодию засунули в компанию но все же обидно что замок получил не самый крутой саундрек как по мне. Послушав тему из кампании факторки могу сказать что она мне тоже не понравилась ( . Я не знаю я будто не чувствую атмосферу замка когда слушаю эти мелодии. Взять тот же причал музыка просто иделаьно подходит или взять Данж или любой другой замок музыка там просто чудесная. Я не хочу сказать что музыка в факторке хуйня но она как по мне самая слабенькая из всех

@@ArturFlintchannel потому что когда Ромеро писал свою музыку для третьих героев, он был в кураже. По строению и звучанию музыки, было видно что автор испытал огромное вдохновение. Тут не просто красивая музыка, она наполнена какой то "магией" , она создаёт невероятную атмосферу в игре. Конечно же спустя время тот же автор уже не сможет повторить прежнее исполнение, для этого нужно поймать ту волну, которая давно уже прошла и не вернётся.

Yes this is really similar to Forge. Xel is a little too from H 7 7.5 mod.
To be fair if you read descriptions of heroes most were druids, mages, beast lords, barbarians, etc.

I feel like Tower already occupied the niche of inventions and science, making this theme less original.

I will be honest, I was sceptical about the whole HotA project (why add new stuff to perfection? Thats what I saw Heroes 3 as), especially because I am not too fond of Cove, of new mechanics and abilities, breaking the mold, but the theme of Factory alone is worthy of an addition to the game.
Actully because Hota crew are fixed bags, and also they CAN a do something new.

It's used for Factory's campaign theme. IMO, his take is too understated to work as a town theme, so I agree with the HotA crew's choice to go with this theme instead.
@@murlocaggrob2192Honestly speaking, I like Paul Romero initial trailer take on piano the best. Two other versions are not as pompous at it was, I think it would fit well for a city. Not changing the music itself, just making it play at faster rate and hitting harder like that piano take.
@@dziku2222 That was Docent Picolan's version. Romero just promised to complete the track after Docent passed away.

It's used for the campaign. The HotA Crew said a few years ago that they didn't feel like Romero's score fit what they had in mind for the town.

Second half of the theme is definitely fire, first minute is underwhelming in comparison, feels more like a song intro, not like homm3 themes that are usually very recognizable from the first seconds, but overall great score.

i dont like the faction and i dont like how the music fits with the town screen but ive got to admit - this is some damn good music
The music is so romantic (and not mechanical) because it tries to convey the mood of a bright future for the settlers from Eofol.
Couatls aren't impressive in terms of power, but I really love their look

It's a great melody, but imo not epic enough... it's the last city composed by Docent Picolan and it should be loud and powerful as Stronghold

I am a little disappointed as this version is kind of similar to Paul Romero's one, but I dont see his name anywhere here. It is clear to me that they probably used his work as insipiration for the final product and forgot to put him in somehow?
both this theme and Paul's theme are based on melody composed by Docent Picolan. They have similar parts but only because they both are a "remix" of the initial music piece

@@koda8565 Well, NWC's elementals are wild powers, so like true neutral - will help against kreegan (yet after Escaton's drive them into madness), but only to protect their former planet, even if they are prisoners because of the Ancients.
I bet, they'll try to destroy all humans if they stay in free after M&M VIII and HoMM III, not like "oh, your masters and creators trapped four of us inside 4 spheres, so we will help you because we're so kind!"
It sounds really good, almost too good.
Why would a "factory" themed faction, with gears and hammers have such an enlightened orchestral sound. I think I'd go for something with a beat, more percussion symbolic of the never ending factory work.
The main popular music style during the Industrial Revolution was Romantic music. Just because a culture becomes heavily industrialized doesn't mean they want to hear it reflected in their music. People listen to music to relax and disconnect from their daily toil, not to be reminded by it. The world hasn't all switched to techno or some other "futuristic" genre just because we've moved past the year 2000 like the naive sci-fi of the 40-60s was portraying it.
@@xKinjax The entire heroes soundtrack is orchestral, nobody talking about synths. Each town has its own distinct orchestral sound:
Necro, horror
Rampart, nature
Tower, christmas waltz
etc.
In that context more percussion would have been appropriate. Spicatto, Staccato articulations on brass, an exotic instrument. A work bell, like in a western or an anvil being hit at the start of every other bar or at the start of a section.
This theme could fit for other factions with begs the question, why a factory themed faction? It's not as strongly associated with the faction as say the necromancer or cove faction music is to their respective towns.
It doesn't scream gears and industrialization at all which is why it's not a great theme for this faction. It's good music but it doesn't fit well.
@@DanIel-fl1vc It's a remnant from when the town was much more heavily cowboy-themed. Compare this track to The Ecstacy of Gold from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and you'll catch more than a few similarities.
I still think it fits. Factory isn't just about gears and technology, but also a new people settling a country in a harsh frontier.
@@murlocaggrob2192 I didn't pay enough attention to the background, the spinning star in the upper left corner. The tower with the circular windows on the right side. You could interpret those as "steampunk, height of science", (Myst the game). Then the bombastic atmospheric heightened music could fit. Read too much into the name "factory" as well as the arid beaten down look of the landscape.
They should have called the faction "Science", or "Academia", not put the buildings in a dust bin. Then it would be a perfect fit. A simple color correction on the background might accomplish it. Less saturated, more white desert dunes look. It looks dirty, the music sounds clean.

Not this faction. This is Steampunk. The cancelled faction was called Forge and had cyborgs. So the idea was toned down a lot. But I find it ironic that the Factory has giant robot with laser but now people are okay with that.

Please bring back the old version that Paul Anthony Romero and Docent Picolan showed off- way better, more emotional, energetic and gets me pumped just like the Cove theme. 🙏😩 Their old renditions were Cove-level. This isn't, and sounds generic.
Well, Romero's one for this city, but after 2020 wasn't great too (I think, you could hear maestro's version as campaign theme right now).

Just rewatched Picolan's 3-year-old sample played by Romero and that sounds better than this one. Beautiful melody got changed to generic fantasy music
Yeah, the main sad part of this was definitely that they didn't use what Romero played. Hope they change the music back to Romeros sample from that video

nice song, but the faction is even less fitting to the game than cove was. i would love to play hota for all the balance fixes and quality of life features but i just cannot stand the masses of totally unfitting content it has that cannot be turned off. i mean who would it even hurt if would allow me choose which additional content i want to be included? if it would have such feature i would even turn off the conflux for the poorly designed unfitting mess it is.

@@Crazy-Drokonrobots, lasers and western shooters are less fitting, flamethrowers are less fitting. just as yarr pirates and cannons are less fitting to a game that was supposed to be about mythology. and just overall the creatures, towns and items lack the imagination that the official content has. it reeks the forced fan fiction content it is. i don't mind if someone else likes it but at least allow people to turn it off and just enjoy the balance and qol improvements.
@@Eye_Exist Might & Magic is a sci-fi game. Gods are technologically advanced precursors, the Kreegans are invading alien locusts, and Angels are robots built to exterminate said aliens. If you play through Factory's campaign, it marries the Heroes of Might & Magic side with the original Might & Magic games. It's VERY faithful to the original lore.
@@murlocaggrob2192 irrelevant, because HoMM3 was a mythological medieval fantasy game until the introduction of hota, which further changed the concept into scifi world and some western nonsense by introducing factory town. it's irrelevant if it's faithful to the M&M-lore, because it's not faithful to the theme of the HoMM3 game itself. it's all good if they choose to create this type of content, but as the 'the' modernization of the HoMM3 game they should at least allow people to choose whether they want to take the different path with them and let to choose the content they want to include in the game. who would that hurt?
@@Eye_Exist You know the OG creators New World Computing was going to introduce Space Orcs (which the OG creators of HotA took inspiration of Factory and toned it down) after Conflux and both Devils and Angels are actually Robots, Kreegans (Devils) are from another planet like aliens right? Like it's totally a canon lore. Not to mention Mana is cosmic energy (magnetic energy to be precise) and not magic. It's a thorough Sci-fi game. On a regular basis, where Aliens can travel through space and angels being mechanical robots, Factory struggling to be a Victorian Era faction is mild at best.
I prefer Romero one, this one sounds too generic for my taste. Like futuristic town, instead of wild west one..

Только что переслушал кусочек темы которую когда то выставлял Пол Ромеро и я считаю что она звучит в тысячу раз лучше , я понимаю что его мелодию засунули в компанию но все же обидно что замок получил не самый крутой саундрек как по мне.
Послушав тему из кампании факторки могу сказать что она мне тоже не понравилась ( .
Я не знаю я будто не чувствую атмосферу замка когда слушаю эти мелодии.
Взять тот же причал музыка просто иделаьно подходит или взять Данж или любой другой замок музыка там просто чудесная.

Жалко, что не ту, где был кусок, потому что его то как раз Пол и не развил, а сделал тему то ли с нуля, то ли со своих заготовок, но ИМХО, среди трёх тем Фабрики, версия Доцента и арранжировка Пола Ромеро выглядит самой мощной. Что не убавляет крутости текущей темы города. Всё же в ней мотив Доцента чувствуется.
Разрабы говорили что ожидали от Ромеро то что он играл в Випке, а потом Ромеро выдал финальный трек и он звучал совершенно по-другому.

По строению и звучанию музыки, было видно что автор испытал огромное вдохновение.
Тут не просто красивая музыка, она наполнена какой то "магией" , она создаёт невероятную атмосферу в игре.
Конечно же спустя время тот же автор уже не сможет повторить прежнее исполнение, для этого нужно поймать ту волну, которая давно уже прошла и не вернётся.
The theme sounds very basic, like a stock music. Plus it doesn't really suit the vibe of the town. Disappointing.
It does suit the vibe of the campaign. Like Cove was.
