  • No. 10 presents different challenges from the etudes prior. The quick back and forth motion of the slide to play these turns well is an important skill to have as a trombonist, and one that must be practiced to learn how to do it well. Don't skip this study!

Thank you! I stopped for the summertime for a summer break and intended to get back into them in the fall. However, with my schedule back in full swing, plus some unexpected additional responsibilities, I simply haven’t been able to make the time to make them happen. But knowing that people miss them is a big motivator to get back into it. Thanks for writing about it!

Can you public the video of the online recital you did in 2020?
It had been Sooo helpful and inspiring for me.

Hey there! I'm having some trouble getting fast response in my pedal register. I can work down in context fine. New Orleans and Penderecki Cappricio have been real puzzles with this. Any advice?

That’s a good question, and one that could have a very specific application to your own setup. That makes it hard to make a recommendation without actually seeing what’s going on! The best advice I would give is to simply video record yourself and observe what you do, and see if there are any significant differences between slurring and articulating pedal notes. That will at least give you some more information, and may lead you to some changes that get you where you want to go.

Off-road is my album as a tenor trombonist - the rest of them are with me on bass trombone.
