Thank you Dave. Your videos give me a vicarious window on the walks I used to do before grappling with repeated injuries. Enjoy it all while you can! Loving Sean the sheep!!
Big thanks Kelvin. Really sorry to hear you’re still struggling. I know how frustrating it is when you can’t enjoy what you love doing. Take care and very best wishes 🙏🏻 🐑😁👍
Superb effort, this is up there with my No1 video Murrays Skye camp on Sgurr na Stri. Stunning scenes, brilliantly captured and narrated. This is why I cancelled Sky tv😅
Beautiful landscape and wonderful views. Excellent work and thank you for sharing. The footage has brilliant colours well done. I did winter camping in Yukon, so I knower what you’re talking about.
Lovley video Dave. Beautiful conditions. Absolutely perfect. Funnily enougyh as you were walking down I thought to myself "If I were them now, I'd drive to Fort William for breakfast." 😅 All the best for 2024, and looking forward to more videos! - Alistair (Llanelli, south Wales).
Nice video David. What a view and wonderful inversion below, even on such a small hill. Proper hot water bottles are the way to go… way better than a Nalgene in a sock!
Fantastic video yet again mate, the aurora photos were amazing 👏 I've always pitched my Allak back end into the wind and its been perfect 👍 Keep up the good work ATB
Absolutely awesome!! Just shows you dont always have to get to the summit of a 3000 footer to get amazing views, the Northern Lights footage & images were spectacular, love the videos you guys bring to us. Stay safe out there folk's.
Well she delivered on previous monthly videos Dave lol you got to see the northern lights, how awesome must that have been, myself were you left the footprint of the tent I would put a fire pit, leave no trace is one thing,, staying warm is another, given the short walk up, two walks one with bag of wood and coal, sitting outside tent cooking food on fire pit, looking at northern lights. But I cannot this time i got s two month fit note, and personal to me pain relief based on my body weight, extra codeine. As for your bicep show in gym, I never need to do bicep again, my bicep as solid as they come, was created 30 years or more Thoroughly enjoyed the video, given you are a team leading by example Hope you both have a wonderful Christmas
Some of those stills and Northern Lights footage must be amongst the best you have ever put on your site..Absolutely awsome. What a reward for all your effort and planning. Another great film Dave, in a fantastic setting. Loved it. All the best for Christmas and New Year to you both. Hope 2024 is a great year for you mate👍
Nice one Dave. Lovely pitch, great night shots. Well jealous AGAIN. I've got a ton of dates in diary for Jan and Feb...fingers crossed for some lower temps, Scotland a tad far 😂. ....... Keep it up mate
Fantastic film footage Dave, concerning pitching a tent - you are correct in stating put rear of tent into oncoming wind. I understand wind could change direction. One cannot but to stick it out. Dave all the best to you and woman & Shaun baaaa. Have a happy Christmas and New Year - Phil.
Great camp and a really nice spot. Have camped at it many times and ideal for getting some winter camping experience. Need to get back up and see how the memorial plaque is doing since I cleaned it last. Atb
This is certainly a brilliant camp. I introduced it to David earlier this year but we didn't vlog that. Shame he didn't put any of that footage in. That was my 5 th camp there now hahha. It's a nice one. I used to use it for my break night whilst getting up to Assynt or skye 😂😂
Absolutely stunning Dave, some spectacular views there. Looked bloody freezing. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us as always. I always love a Glencoe video!
Fantastic Dave 👌 a lovely video and you got a cracking day for it for sure :) great getting the Aurora and inversion too :) let’s hope for some nice weather soon :)
Have always pitched with opposite end to yours, the foot end into wind also put poles in sleeves in the order of Red, White and Blue and if extremely windy then extra guylines going straight out from foot end and even vent hood adding guys head and foot ends. Yes opening doors fills tent with wind so I open zip from under vent hood zipping down to ground to get in and out. will try pitching head end into wind to see what it is like. Love the Northern Lights, your pictures and video amazing. Kind regards.
Nice one excellent condition s👍 That spot has been on my radar for a while nowas it keeps popping up on u tube. Have just treated myself to a allak so might just pop up there to test it out. Very interesting about the mixed veiws on how to pitch it.
I pitch my Allak 2 the same way as you with the broad end and vestibule shelter into the wind, but the official Hilleberg recommendation is the other way round. I was on Dartmoor in some wind at the weekend and head into the wind wasn't comfortable. I'll try the other way next time.
What a superb location with stunning views...the time lapse and photos of the northern lights were absolutely brilliant...many thanks for the video and I hope you are both doing well....Best wishes
Watching now mate, interesting you mentioned about which direction to pitch the allak 2 as I'm still trying to work this out also. Like you I try to pitch it as you described. I made the mistake of pitching it whereby the open doors acted as a sail (I lost my jet boil doing this 😢). Great pitch and hope you both feel better soon mate
Just watched your camp mate quality 😀 I did laugh out loud when it got rough even though it wasn't funny for you and you know it's rough when a hilleberg gets folded up
Nice film, at one point, it looked like you were on the Moon! I don’t know what road that was, but those cars weren’t hanging about, you would have thought they would be going a bit slower to enjoy the view!
Nice video and beautiful camp. Too bad you didn’t do a time lapse of the Aurora. And too bad your tent doesn’t have a proper vestibule where you can cook and heat your water without exposing you both to the elements
I have the Allak 2 as well, I pitch it the same way big end into wind as give better cover from the wind etc when doors open although I think Hilleberg recommends pitching other way round.
About time, your now a proper youtuber 😂😂and putting food in jacket 😂, are the down boots any good or are they just about sufficient pal, great video again mate, great pictures by the way , take care
Hi Dave. Absolutely love your Videos. Im a big fan. Love what you do and your positivity for life and adventure. I’m doing a camp in spring and have similar kit to you, plus a DJI mini drone. Also got the hilleberg Allak tent. Need to get a ruck sack for approx 20kg. What the model Osprey you use, and do you recommend it? Need to get some good 3 season hicking /Trail shoe. Was thinking of the SALOMON XA PRO 3D V9 TRAIL RUNNING SHOES - AW23 Is there a shoe/boot you would recommend? And how do you take photos of the stars at night? Is it with the GoPro or iPhone? Sorry for all the questions. 🙏🏽
Haha. Glad you’re enjoying my videos. My rucksack is an Osprey Atmos 65 and I love it 👍 My 3 season boots are Scarpa R Evo GTX. Winter boots are Scarpa Charmoz 👍 Night pics are with IPhone 13 Pro Max and Go Pro 11. ATB 👍
G’day, watching your video at 3.40am in Sydney Australia, 🇦🇺it’s 22c right now, and you’re making me feel cold 🥶. I can’t imagine those low temperatures. Beautiful scenery beautiful mountains. You talked about Dumfries before, my wife’s mother comes from there and most of my wife’s family are still in Scotland, we hope to get there one day. I suggest to you to watch my country Australia, watch You Tuber Molly Dixon, she’s travelling around Australia, she puts on a great video, worth watching.
Just shows you don't have to do big gruelling walk-ins to have a great camping spot. I don't get why some people purposefully choose to lug their gear miles, must be masochists! Each to their own though.
Lugging weight up hills for miles is fun only when you have the fitness to do it. It feels like nothing when im fit for it. I've done 18 miles in one day a few times before pitch and its brilliant. But you really have to learn how to pxk light for that. I csnt wait to get back to it because it gives you that sense of complete isolation because your so far into the wilderness alone. Xx
Thank you Dave. Your videos give me a vicarious window on the walks I used to do before grappling with repeated injuries. Enjoy it all while you can!
Loving Sean the sheep!!

Nice one mate, pretty perfect winter camp 👌
Wee bonus of the Lights as well.
Sorted 👍
Beautiful landscape and wonderful views. Excellent work and thank you for sharing. The footage has brilliant colours well done. I did winter camping in Yukon, so I knower what you’re talking about.
What an effort for a camping, such a long journey!

That looked incredible
Morning mate, top man 👍. Looks like you had a good camp. Thanks for sharing buddy. Tc Andy
Nice video David. What a view and wonderful inversion below, even on such a small hill. Proper hot water bottles are the way to go… way better than a Nalgene in a sock!

I've always pitched my Allak back end into the wind and its been perfect 👍

The Northern lights looked so beautiful. A nice December camp! 👍

There's also the 'plough' constellation in that night sky!
Nice one Mark 😎👍
Beautiful, stunning. Thankyou for sharing.
Positive vibes, envious of the aurora experience, spot on that 💪🤙👌
Brill Dave 👍 Hope you're feeling better now!
Wonderful camp Dave, so pleased you both witnessed The Northern Lights. Great pictures early doors. ATB 👍😉👊
class video..just across the road from where you were parked I photographed 2 sea eagles..next time your passing keep your eye out for them ..
Wow. That’s fantastic. Will do. Glad you enjoyed the video. ATB
What a beautiful camp! ❄️🌄🌌
Thanks Anne 🙏🏻
Absolutely stunning views over Rannoch Moor. The aurora was spectacular thanks for sharing Dave.
😎👍
Another great video, Dave. Fantastic views and colour in the sky. I hope you both get better soon.👍👍
Big thanks Biagio 🙏🏻
stunning with the soft shades of colour made by low winter sun. great camp. many thanks.
Many thanks Gary 👍

A man for all seasons ! Quality as usual, with some great night shots. Enjoyed that.
Many thanks Ant 👍

You’re much nicer than me! No way I’d be sharing my down trousers! Beautiful job as always. The scenery rarely disappoints.
What a superb location with stunning views...the time lapse and photos of the northern lights were absolutely brilliant...many thanks for the video and I hope you are both doing well....Best wishes
Big thanks as always Andy. ATB 🙏🏻
Another thoroughly enjoyable video Dave 👍. The views were spectacular, mainly to my mind because of the freezing and clear conditions.
Glad you enjoyed it Greg 👍
Watching now mate, interesting you mentioned about which direction to pitch the allak 2 as I'm still trying to work this out also. Like you I try to pitch it as you described. I made the mistake of pitching it whereby the open doors acted as a sail (I lost my jet boil doing this 😢).
Great pitch and hope you both feel better soon mate
Just watched your camp mate quality 😀 I did laugh out loud when it got rough even though it wasn't funny for you and you know it's rough when a hilleberg gets folded up
Aye. Seems there’s differing opinions on this. I think getting a good peg in and splitting the guys is more important in strong winds 🤷♂️👍😎
Nice one Dave, looks so peaceful up to there. Gonna have to explore this area once the Wainwright ‘bagging’ is complete 😜
Absolutely 🏴👍😎
Nice film, at one point, it looked like you were on the Moon! I don’t know what road that was, but those cars weren’t hanging about, you would have thought they would be going a bit slower to enjoy the view!
Aye. It’s a busy road that Alex. Lovely spot though. ATB 🙏🏻
Class.👍
Nice color grading
Nice video and beautiful camp. Too bad you didn’t do a time lapse of the Aurora. And too bad your tent doesn’t have a proper vestibule where you can cook and heat your water without exposing you both to the elements
Haha. Thanks, I think 😁👍
I have the Allak 2 as well, I pitch it the same way big end into wind as give better cover from the wind etc when doors open although I think Hilleberg recommends pitching other way round.
Yeah. I was interested to hear other people’s thoughts. 👍
Great video and fab views! Like your hat - what's the make and model of it?
Many thanks 👍. It’s from Trail Wolf on Instagram and facebook 👍
You’re going to have to change your Channel name???😂
Some video is that mate.👍
colours are just stunning this time of year, are you using 10 bit on the gopro?
No. Just standard settings.
About time, your now a proper youtuber 😂😂and putting food in jacket 😂, are the down boots any good or are they just about sufficient pal, great video again mate, great pictures by the way , take care
Cheers Mark 😁👍
Random question Dave, how do you go about drying off your tent after your camps?
No worries Andy. I pitch it in the garage, dry it off and hoover out the inner 👍
Superb Dave. What did you film the night-laps using?
Cheers Dave. Filmed on the GoPro 11 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer thanks Dave. That was pretty spot on. I’m still using the H10 must learn to use it lol 😂
Definitely take the misses more often

Haha. I do enjoy the gruelling slogs sometimes. They certainly get you to the more remote spots. Guess I am a bit of a masochist then 😆👍
not a bagger, not a proper gear showing youtuber, next you’ll be telling us you don’t summit mountains solo anymore 😂😂
😆👍Back solo very soon 😎
