What i do find remarkable is how turn-based RPGs gained a bit of a renaissance, and in turn, greater exposure towards other IPs, especially for Western audiences, notably Falcom and Atlus with their games.
The vocation abilities from 6 would be neat
Thought my switch was done but will bring out of retirement for DQ3 HD-D2
I would love to have DQ1-10 on my PS4 and current systems as well.
I'd prefer then on PS5 and Switch 2 (not out yet no, but I'll have it day one and own an OLED already).

That "change" in battle already happened in DQ11 but people probably didn't notice.
*Compare battle flow between the 3D and 2D modes*
2D mode battle is what is considered the OG classic turn order with planning ahead....while 3D mode is more "reactive"
Love DQ and will be keeping an eye on 12 regardless whether it is turn based or action
I pretty much agree, although I'd like to see how it comes out first. Generally, with action jrpgs, it's so messy and cluttered that I can't tell what is even happening visually on screen.
Yuji Hori assured us that DQ12 was turn based though
I’ve been re reading Dragon Ball lately and have been so nostalgic with DQIII and XII continuing to top my most anticipated games list for almost 3 years now. The tone direction they announced has worried me a bit from day one but so long as the spirit of Dragon Quest shines through, I’m all in day one zero questions asked. I hope turn based stays in tact because unlike FF which has always experimented with real time elements from ATB to XII/MMO combat to VIIR to XV and XVI, DQ has been more traditional
I'm so glad this wasn't one of the canceled games the President of SE mentioned. I was hella depressed that this game got canned

What a good time to be a Dragon Quest fan. I haven’t played a DQ game since VIII on PS2, and just recently picked up XI on switch, so the news that 3 (or even better yet, 1-3) is getting remade make me happy.
I would love to see them combine the three into one cohesive story game, and not 3 separate titles on one cartridge. I think it could be really ambitious of them, and a much better idea than what they did with splitting FFVII into three games…
If they have a HD 2D version of DQ 1,2 & 3 on Switch this fall, they'll sell another 5 million Switches in Japan. Unless there are some time travelling demons that change the fate and story of the characters...
All 3 would finally get me to play the first 3. I have DS IV, V, 6 and IX as well as VII, VIII on 3DS 😊
The Grandia series had this amazing turn based battle system that’s just sitting around collecting dust, if dragon quest 12 pulls it out an uses it I would be more than happy to throw them some $
I seriously hope we get the full trilogy in one package! Excluding 10, as its JP only, 1-3 are the only DQ games I haven't played. Been waiting on the HD-2D release hoping we get all 3!
If they don't keep the spirit that makes DQ special it's basically over, Final Fantasy lost that a long time ago.

No lie I did some research cause I was wondering why DQ3 ? and it seems DQ3 was like one of the best selling games in Japan for 3 years straight when it came out and also like one of the favs in the dragon quest series for a lot of people for what I did at the time. Looking forward to trying out the HD remake and also the new entry

Actually most of DQ development is outsourced. Always has been since the beginning (where churnsoft developed, enix published.) I don't think the largest platform is the PS5. I think it will be the Switch 2. Switch has been GREAT with JRPGs. PS5.......

Also, 12 really might be lookning eveb better, even if they go into a different kind of gameplay.
As much as I want it to be true, I just can't believe that they would release the trilogy all together when they only announced one of the games. I think it's more likely that they're going to tweak and update the overall story of the trilogy and because of that it might make more sense for them to switch the timeline around and release the games in a different order.
I never played 3. 5,and 6 have always been my favorite. How would it compare to these games?
On par with 5, better than 6.
Being an OG fan who's played every game since the late 80's, for me, DQ3 is my favorite story wise even over 5
Now, in full retrospect, 5 *IS* by a small edge, the better story if you enjoy the darker tones it brings.
3 on the other hand still wins out, even with the benefits of hindsight, simply because it was so monumentally huge at the time! To really appreciate it though, you absolutely *must* play through DQ 1 -> DQ 2 first to fully enjoy the story of DQ3
For this remake, I really just hope they add a little bit to the Fighter & especially the Soldier classes, as the latter was almost pointless in the Super Famicom/GBC remakes once whips/boomerangs were added as weapon options for the Hero. (and IIRC, Thieves & Sages could also use some of those as well)
Even just giving the Soldier a built-in Multi-Thrust (ie: 4 random hitting attacks), & Hatchet Man (a crit-or-miss attack) skills would help keep him relevant... otherwise, they need to remove the whips/boomerangs or no one will keep a Soldier after their first hour or so of story progression. ;-)
The SNES remakes are so much better looking than the mud looking phone games.

I was excited until I found out DQ3 2D HD will not be on PS4.
@@thommccarthy1139 PS4 is only one generation back, not two. However, people shouldn't expect games to release on PS4 much anymore if at all. PS5 will be 4 years old in just a few months.

Your toaster is dead, deal with it. Move on to modern systems which are available for years now. PS4 support should have ended in 2021.
