The Story of „Healing Tune“ (unten in Dt.):
In January 2020, during the preparations for the upcoming album „Celtic Spirits“, I received a phone call that our friend Peter would not survive the very night. 3 days before his condition had worsened dramatically. Even at the hospital he was still listening to the music of Celtica, his favourite band, and he was glad and proud that he first had been a fan, but later had become a friend of the band. I had just finished arranging a very quiet tune, which seemed much more appropriate to his situation than our usual very rockin´ sound. I sent it to his sister in law so she could play it to him. It was like a miracle that Peter - contrary to the doctors´ prognosis - not only survived that night but that the next morning he was even awake enough that I could talk to him on the phone - for the last time. In memory of Peter we called the piece ”Healing Tune”.
In August 2021 we received the sad news that our friends of the Belarusian band Irdorath had been arrested for just playing bagpipes at a demonstration against the dictator Lukaschenko. They were sentenced to 1 ½ and 2 years labour camp. At our concerts we started spreading the word about their brutal suppression and furthermore dedicated the song Healing Tune to Irdorath. We are sure that Peter would have loved this gesture!
We are very happy that the cello player of Irdorath, Aleksandra Aleksiu, had been able to emigrate to Austria with her parents right in time. It was wonderful that she could record the cello part and perform it in this video.
In early 2022 Russia suddenly attacked the Ukraine: War in Europa! Regardless of the prehistory and all vindications people die, get wounded, displaced and traumatised. We share the pain of ALL victims: Usually those who are not responsible for this or any other war have to pay the price.

Die Geschichte von Healing Tune:
Im Januar 2020, bei den Vorbereitungen zum Album „Celtic Spirits“, erhielt ich den Anruf, dass unser Freund Peter diese Nacht sterben werde. Sein Zustand habe sich vor 3 Tagen dramatisch verschlechtert. Er höre aber auch hier im Spital seine Lieblingsband Celtica und er sei so froh und stolz, erst ein Fan und dann ein Freund geworden zu sein. Ich hatte soeben eine ruhige Nummer mit dem Arbeitstitel „Lullaby“/ „Wiegenlied vorarrangiert, und da dieses Stück viel besser zu seiner Situation passte, schickte ich es seiner Schwägerin, damit sie es ihm vorspielen könne. Wie durch ein Wunder, entgegen der Prognosen der Ärzte, überlebte Peter diese Nacht nicht nur, sondern war am nächsten Vormittag sogar so weit bei Bewusstsein, dass ich mich noch von ihm telefonisch verabschieden konnte. In seinem Andenken nannten wir dann das Stück „Healing Tune“.
Im August 2021 mussten wir erfahren, dass die mit uns befreundeten MusikerInnen der weissrussische Band Irdorath ins Gefängnis gesperrt worden waren, bloss weil sie bei einer Massendemonstration gegen den Diktator Lukaschenko Dudelsack gespielt hatten. Die MusikerInnen wurden deshalb zu 1 ½ bis 2 Jahren Arbeitslager verurteilt. Um darauf aufmerksam zu machen, berichteten wir bei unseren Auftritten von der brutalen Unterdrückung und widmeten Healing Tune den inhaftierten Irdorath-MusikerInnen; Peter hätte das sicher sehr gefreut…
Wir sind sehr froh, dass die Cellistin von Irdorath, Aleksandra Aleksiu, noch vor der Verhaftung mit ihren Eltern nach Österreich auswandern konnte und damit dem Arbeitslager entging. Wunderbar, dass sie jetzt das Cello ein- und im Video mitspielen konnte.
Im Frühjahr 2022 kam es plötzlich zum Angriff Russlands auf die Ukraine. Unabhängig von der Vorgeschichte und allen „Rechtfertigungen“ sterben seither Menschen, werden verletzt, vertrieben, traumatisiert. Wir bedauern alle Opfer - es trifft ja immer diejenigen, die nicht den Krieg verschuldet haben. Und das gilt für alle Kriege, die nach wie vor quer über den Erdball wüten.
Freiheit für alle gewaltfreie Gewissensgefangene, Freiheit für Irdorath!
Beendet alle Kriege, in der Ukraine und überall sonst!

Vielen Dank für dieses Upload. Ich bin immer wieder überrascht davon, in wie vielen Variationen ihr die Bagpipe darstellt / einsetzt oder wie auch immer man es bezeichnen möchte. Das Intro mit der Akkustik Gitarre war schon überwältigend... Dann die zweite Hälfte mit dem Chor und den anderen Instrumenten...
Dazu kommt der Hintergrund dieses Stücks - also der Abschied von Peter, der bei aller Begeisterung auch ein Stück Nachdenklichkeit mit sich bringt.
Das Ende: Stoppt JEDEN Krieg! Musik verbindet die ganze Menschheit.
Ein Traum: Vielleicht... eines Tages... gibt es vielleicht ein Konzert mit Euch, Otava Yo und Kyrylo Kostukovskyї...

Es freut mich, wenn Du unsere vielseitige Verwendung des Dudelsacks schätzt - ich versuche immer wieder, unser Programm und unsere CDs möglichst interessant und abwechslungsreich zu gestalten. Besonders freut mich aber, dass Du den (doch recht langen) Text gelesen hast und dass er Dich berührt! Und Danke für "Deinen Traum" bzw. Tipp: Ich kannte weder die Band noch den Pianisten, finde aber beides sehr interessant und ansprechend (hätte ich mir bei einem russisch-irischem Crossover niemals gedacht...). Tja, wieder was gelernt...: Danke!

Hello, I´m sorry if I hurt your feelings. I wanted to express, that I feel for ALL victims, also on the Russian side. And there is always a prehistory that is used to justify physical violence - but we all should have learned by now, that war is no way to end a conflict, but causes new conflicts. I hope that the people in Russia and the people in the Ukraine learn to live together (!) in peace...

Но большое спасибо за то, что поделились своим мнением, а также прочитали мой ответ: только через общение мы можем понять «другую» сторону. Вероятно, еще до 2014 года были «аргументы» (по крайней мере, для одной стороны), почему атака оправдана, возможно, даже «необходима». Но я считаю, что речь идет не столько о «виновности», сколько о поиске решения для ОБЕИХ сторон. И чем больше насилия, тем труднее становится найти решение...
