What about tying the body for an emerging sedge with kapok using a spiral for the contrast? I wonder if it would dive when pulled then slowly float up..😊
It needs wings to pop up back to surface. I do that with F fly pretty often. I tried it with kapok wings and its also possible. I only did test it here with tropical fish around me...
2 wraps around the tying thread, I’ll have to do that on my next batch. I still like Tim Flagglers method of parachute from bottom to top, whip finish and then let the varnish soak down the post to cement everything. Stripping hackles does give an aesthetically pleasing fly but it’s half a hackle so not quite so useful on those fast streams and rivers. That’s a nice cape there as well, plus the kapok will make that a very buoyant fly indeed. Do you ever use water shed for proofing?
I absolutely love this fly and how you describe everything step by step. I too would like to get that box of key kapok... I usually don't buy little boxes of dubbing but this is a definite exception! Thank you ever so much for making this video, it really made my weekend!!!

Flagglers method is still something i need to try. I saw it but never tried.
I use several floatants. Never tried water shed. I heard about it 😀
@@Oholisfliesandfishing ordered the first Feather Mechanic now.. thanks for the recommendation
Where do you get a kit of kapok like that. Semferi doesn’t sell that here
Try AliExpress, royal sissi brand
