- Guitarist Tariq Harb performs Giulio Regondi's Etude No.1 on a Yulong Guo Chamber Concert Guitar. Thanks to the Grand Salon de Guitare for providing the guitar, recording space and logistics to make this video possible.
"A composer, guitarist and concertina virtuoso, Giulio Regondi was born in Geneva (or, perhaps, Genoa), the son of a German mother and an Italian father. He appeared as a child prodigy guitarist from the 1830s, learning the newly developed concertina during a visit to London, where he settled in 1839. During a concert tour he acquired, in Vienna, an eight-string guitar. He died in London in 1872.
Regondi wrote music both for the guitar and for the concertina. He published five important and challenging works for guitar in 1864."

Pure beauty
it’s incredible how much more virtuosic and difficult regondis pieces are than worth any giuliani, who came before him. none of their music used the tremolo technique for instance but regondi created some amazing pieces with this technique and much hard pieces imo. he must have been an incredible player, even though the guitars were smaller than modern instruments.
