on linux or bsd type os, you can use nut (Network UPS Tools) to able to configure it to shutdown the pc or event more you can set it up act as a ups server so that any pc connected to it able to shutdown when the ups is on bettery mode or a certain time on battery mode, also to re-calibrate the bettery run time of that ups full charge the battery around 8 to 12 hrs or more or best let it charage for 24 hrs then put at least 30% to 40% load of the ups capacity best use a resistive load or any load that is none critical then let it run on battery until it the ups shut off by it self then put back the ac power on the ups without load (best practice) to let the battery charge up until its 100% full, the ups will had more accurate battery run time.
Thank you for the video. I just got one of this at Goodwill, the alarm is going off I will try ordering a new battery. Anyone know how you get rid of the old battery?
I paid $50 for a new battery for mine, and I did all this and saw the same light and heard the same click, and then 5 minutes later the alarm started going and the light was flashing red and it just keeps doing it. I need it for my iMac. I don’t know what to do.
Sorry to hear that you might hold down on the rest button I know on mine I did that after I changed my battery and the the beeping and red light stopped and has worked fine ever since hope that helps
@@DavidStahlOLDHAPPyMACs ok I’ll try that. If it still doesn’t work right tomorrow I’m going back to The Battery Boy where they installed it for me and tell them something is wrong. Do I need to leave it plugged in overnight to charge up? Thank you for the reply, it’s very kind of you.
