It was built using modern cranes in the 1920s and again in the 1950s then it was completely removed and reconstructed. Look at some of the old photographs and oil paintings showing Stonehenge it looks very different and was it ever completed? Where are all the other stones, how were they removed, if they were there before?

Holger Drallmeyer you can't fly anywhere near Stonehenge... the whole area is a military training area used for low flying (sub 100 foot) helicopters...

I would argue that is not completely accurate. I live a mile away from it. I am considering flying my Mavic Pro around Stonehenge. National Trust say you can't, and probably for good reason - if they say it, most people won't question it and will conform; there are many drone 'operators' out there who are reckless - could you imagine 50 reckless drone operators all flying there at once!. But lets be realistic - National Trust are not 'the law' and more importantly they do not own the airspace. Stonehenge sits on the very edge of Salisbury Plain Training Area (Restricted Area) which poses an increased risk at certain times, however flight is not prohibited. The closest CTZ is Boscombe Down, which is close, but in terms of what you would want to achieve with a drone around Stonehenge it is not a problem and you would be nowhere near it. I conclude that as long as you take off and land within an area that is public land (not National Trust) and you exercise caution i.e. do it at a time where the public are not around and stay within the bounds of the Drone Code, there is probably nothing anyone can do. Don't take my word for it, but I am willing to risk it whilst operating sensibly. Don't be reckless and fly safe!!
