I shampooed overnight just the spot over 20 times and the smell is still there. The water can be clear but the smell is still there 🤮
My cat does it even when her litter box is clean she is older she does it on anything clothing or carpet but not on the floors
Have you spoken with your vet about it? Older cats can have disorientation, so it could be just age related.

My cat was having territorial insecurity issues since moving twice in one year. I put the litter box in the middle of my apartment and gave him lots of cat trees and beds around the apartment and he has stopped. Now I have stinky carpet.
I watched because my male cat keeps peeing on my rugs in the kitchen. I took him to the vet and was on meds but he has continued to do it. The vet didn't think he had an infection but put him on meds as a precaution. He said it may be a behavioral issue. I do have a female English Bulldog in the house with him so it may be a territorial marking. The video was very helpful.

Hey my cat will always and I mean almost every week is peeing on my clothes towels or carpets he’s a boy and is 2 years old. I leave for school and when I get back he pees on my floor all the time I don’t know how to stop him from doing so
I have an old handicap dog that sometimes pee's and can't hold it. I've had her 7 years and she has NEVER did this, due to age and health reason she can't hold it like when she was younger. Now I have caught my cat's peeing in spots which really makes me made. The dog is old and can't help it, the cats can.

My cat is a male. He’s spraying upstairs and the black light is only useful if it’s a spray on the wall. I cannot see it on the carpet. Our carpet is tan/white. Also, he isn’t hiding his urine or his poo. Which I think is weird. Please help me.

We'd been blaming the dog this whole time... there was a pee mark on one of our rugs and we thought the dog was responsible for it. So we kept him out of the room. But then I'm in that room one day and one of the cats, Eyez just casually prances in to the room, goes in to the corner and lets it flow!!!!! She'd been doing it all this time!!!
The dog was innocent and now I know why the rug was still wet and smelly months after the dog was banished from the room

So I have 2 cats the problem with my situation is my one cat is peeing outside the litter box. I only have one cat litter pan and my mother is not letting me have another cat litter box. So I don't know what to do the only place I allowed a litter box is my bathroom so I just don't know what to do.

Spraying is most often a sign that your cat is scared and uncomfortable. Confidence building sessions can work wonders as well as scent swapping. You may also find good info with muscle testing
I have 4 cats 2 males and 2 females the 2 males are 2 and 4 the females are 10 and 8 and the youngest male one doesn't get along with one of the older females.. I have 4 litter boxes keep them clean sometimes I fall behind on getting them cleaned but any way.. I don't know which one it is but they shit and pee on the carpets.. I keep the smell to a very minimal but still I want to get rid of the smell and stop whoever is peeing and pooping on the carpets to stop..

I have a basement room that stinks of cat urine and it had odor issues before we bought the house. Now it is having odor issues again. My daughter sleeps in the room and I have shampooed the room a few times just to eliminate the odor only to have it back a week later
Is it carpeted? It may be a good idea to remove/replace the carpeting. We made a point to have all hard floors in our house recently and I've decorated with washable rugs and we are so happy with it!
What’s the reason to re-wet the carpet if it’s an older urine stain? Not heard of that before and want to try it. Just curious.

What do you do when the neutered cat only pees and poops on carpet towels or clothes even when the litter box is clean (even brand new and spotless, never used) but the vet says there is no medical reason they can find for this? There is no other animal or human in the apartment either so it’s not stress from that. And when he is boarded at the vet while i’m on a vacation, he uses the litterbox for them perfectly for 10 days? So they look at me even more like I must be making it up that he does this at home? I clean and clean and clean with enzyme cleaner but then I go to work during the day and he has peed and pooped on it all over again when I get home. And it’s an apartment so I cant just rip up the carpet and pad.
That sounds more like stress to me. Cats use their smell to keep them calmer.

Thank you for the video. My kitty was in her litter and due to her age (19 years) I noticed the pee hit the top edge of her litter box and went onto the carpet. Not just a little pee but an entire wet area. I used some Scotchguard which says it's for pet stains and odor but I don't think it's getting rid of the odor. I know it must have gone through the carpet into the pad. Since I've already used another product on it do you think I can still try the Nature's Miracle? Thanks so much for the helpful advice.
I do think you should use Natures Miracle, but you will probably want to get the spot wet first and soak up as much as you can with towels or paper towels before adding anything new to the area.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. As they age, things happen. Have you tried getting a bigger pan, maybe one with low entry sides? It can be hard for them to get in and out of the box when their joints hurt
@@ThePetParentingReset She has a large pan but she likes to back up to the side of the pan when she goes. She was in her pan but didn't squat down low enough and I could see where it hit the top edge and went over. I was thinking the other day that I should have something under the pan in case of accidents because it sits right on the rug ( I know my bad) and with her age she could accidently go over the edge. So I forgot about it and that's when it happened. It isn't her fault. I'll work on the rug as you suggested and look for Natures Miracle at the store. Thanks so much for your suggestions.

@@meichen4105 After you clean and treat the spot to get rid of the smell and it's dry maybe place something over the spot so they can't go on it again. Maybe it's a habit to keep going there. It's difficult to break a habit.
I’m watching this video because my cat peed in my rug and my mom said “if that cat pees one more time we are getting rid of it!” So now I’m try to make sure she dose not find out that there is cat pee in my rug so she has no clue I am doing this and I’ll proble have to do this at night. 😢😅

I'm so sorry to hear that. Cats are much more sensitive than we give them credit for. Changes in their routine, like going out of town, even with a pet sitter, can be hugely difficult for them.
My cat is new to family only 2 years and didn’t like the box being used by my other kitty and didn’t like my litter I was using! This took me $1000 to figure this out 🤦♀️ but she peered on my computer bag and need to fix it! Cleaning the urine Out!

Hi there. Since we brought home a baby the cat is acting so weird and he peeing everywhere in house. On first day he peed inside babys brand new push chair so we had to put all the padding in washing machine. He still haven’t stopped peeing so we locked him in kitchen overnight. Hard to get vets appointment as is bank holidays and emergency services don’t think it’s emergency as its due to stress because of newborn. Any advice from you on this please? Thanks
Yes, it is stress and it is normal. Try to keep your cat out of the baby room and slowly introduce the new smells to him

Sounds like territorial behavior, but I'd suggest working with a behaviorist since I only know what you've told me here. I've spent a good amount of time with a cat that sprays and I've worked with him enough that he will use his litterbox to get a special treat, which means he isn't spraying!

My cat wee'd on a relatively new rug. Only had it 2 weeks...I think she has a urine infection because she's done it on the sofa a few times in the last couple of weeks and she'sbeen acting a bit scetchy (taking her to the vets tomorrow)....anyway, I have an enzyme cleaner and I've got the smell out of the top side of the rug but now it's all trapped on the underneath side (the flat woven part) I have tried to rub the underside but it just smells so bad. Any tips please would be much appreciated. Thank you 🙂
That can definitely be difficult. You may need a carpet cleaner. But first you can try resetting the area and soaking up as much as you can. Just use water to rewet

The 1st thing you need to do is take your cat to the vet and let them know about the inappropriate urination to rule out medical issues that may be going on

My cat didn’t start peeing on my son’s and I bedding ( I have hardwood so I’m here to see what product you was using) until she went into heat. About every 2-3 months she will do it again and literally peed on me while I was sleeping once. We do have a a dog that bothers her while she’s in heat so idk if it’s that ,but I do know she’s really close to my son and I & not as close to my other family members so I feel like it has something to do with her being picky about her litter box being completely clean during this time and being in heat. Idk bc I’m not a bet and I will be getting her checked jic. My son just bought a new mattress topper and she peed on that and we had a generic pet cleaner that wasn’t an enzymatic cleanser and once it air dried the smell came back.

You can use peroxide to help lift the stains. Also vinegar. Let it sit for 5 or so minutes. It breaks down the urine.

I have to admit that your comment triggered me, but it was good because it made me write a new post and I'll be talking about this on my live this Sunday.
I never do this, but because I think you need it, I am going to put my post here in the comments for you to read, along with links to additional information.
Why would a cat be urinating outside of the litterbox?
There are literally so many reasons and if I had video footage of what is going on inside the home it would help to narrow things down, but I don't, so here's about as comprehensive a list as I can put together (in no particular order).
1. There could be an underlying medical reason such as a urinary infection, having trouble urinating, a urinary obstruction, kidney disease, bladder stones, diabetes, arthritis or other pain, cancer, or loss of bladder control.
2. New stress in the home such as:
- Getting new furniture or rearranging furniture
- New or different noises in or around the home
- A new pet in the home
- A new person (or baby) in the home
- Someone moving out of the home
- Leaving your cat while going on vacation
- Changing their diet
- Moving to a new home
3. Problems with the litter or the litter box
- Moving the litterbox
- Changing the type of litter
- Not having enough litter boxes
- Not cleaning the litter box well enough or often enough
- Changing the litter box
- Placement of the litter box
4. Unneutered males are known for spraying or marking their territories, though both male and female cats can spray.
Also, it is worth mentioning that as cats age, their tolerance for unpleasantries decreases. This means that a litter box or type of litter that you have used for a long time may suddenly no longer be tolerable for your cat.
When is it appropriate to see the vet right away, or go to the emergency vet?
- If your cat is straining (inside or outside of the box)
- Signs of pain or discomfort such as yowling, hissing, screaming
- Urinating only a few drops at a time
- Blood in the urine
- Hiding, decreased or loss of appetite
- I'm just going to throw this out there - if your gut is telling you to go, then go
What to do about inappropriate urination
Always, 100% of the time, any changes in mood or behavior should be checked out by your veterinarian.
Once medical conditions are ruled out - and only once they have been ruled out - you can begin to address behavioral issues.
I'd start with the litter box itself. Is it being kept clean? Is it well ventilated? Is it in a high-traffic area? Do you have enough litter boxes (1 for each cat plus 1, at least)?
From here, you can try out different types of boxes and litters. See what your cat prefers. You can also try moving the box to the location where they are urinating to see if they prefer that spot.
For behavioral issues, first and foremost empathy is necessary. Your cat is dealing with something traumatic to them. Help them through the trauma by providing them:
- safe spaces (including verticle space and scratching surfaces)
- plenty of playtime
- consistency in their routine (including grooming)
- confidence building sessions
- scent transfer to new items
There are also some other ways to help our cats when they are stressed that may not be as obvious but can have a huge impact.
- help your cat process stress better by providing them with fresh foods (kick the kibble!)
- stop free-feeding your cat, which can also lead to boredom, which leads to stress
- utilize hunting feeders and other enrichment for feedings
- while not all cats like it, cat safe CBD can help some cats
- veterinary-grade essential oils (animalEO) can also be beneficial. I recommend always starting with Kitty Boost and adding in as necessary for your cat.
- flower essences have also been helpful with cats who are stressed, such as Rescue Remedy by Bach
