At the time, I had just finished watching like 5 political thrillers and was like "I'll watch this but I kinda know what to expect" and I was not at all prepared for the tone of this show. Really caught me off guard and I loved it.
@@dosman3458 A symptom of binging a lot of content IMO. I can remember the high-level stuff just not the details until I begin a rewatch. But that's ok, means when there are slow times on Netflix (stuff I just don't like) I can go back and rewatch great content like this!
If POTUS makes her VP then the show will resemble something like Scandal or West Wing. My guess is that she’ll become the Secretary of State at some point. It’s better suited to the shows feel.
I'm very much looking forward to this. It's my most anticipated Netflix series release of 2024. Can't wait! But, the only thing that worries/annoys me is that they're reducing the amount of episodes from 8 to 6 for season 2.
I hope it goes back up to 8 I think this was a weird one because they premiered it during the strikes so naturally when it did well they had to make a call. But I love the pacing of this show and Kerri Russel is so good at intense dialogue.
This show is not just the best, smartest show I’ve ever seen on Netflix, it’s the best, smartest show I’ve ever seen on any platform. Superb writing, stellar acting (there’s not a single character that’s not believable), a perfect musical score for the show, a thoughtful variety of camera work to tell the story, credible lighting for every set, and every other fine detail come together to make an expertly directed series. The dialogue is unforced but still sophisticated. The pacing feels normal but still exciting. The contrast among characters makes each one jump off the screen-even the minor characters. This show is itching for more awards than the industry currently offers. They might need to make a new one: “And the winner of Gestalt Perfection goes to . . .”
Yes! First series since good wife that I can watch over and over. Worth watching season 1 again. Just wait a bit though. It’ll make you impatient for season two!
Oh hell yeah! Been hanging out for this! The last one ended on such a cliff hanger, I almost though you guys got a cease and desist notice or something!
I really loved part 1, but I will probably have to rewatch some episodes to review the content, because I don't remember the ending clearly. After mastering everything, I can fully immerse myself in part 2!
I have a terrible feeling after watching this that the person behind all of the nastiness is actually Dennison because he wants the PM’s job. I really hope I’m wrong because I love him and Kate together. Also, looks like Ronnie was the sacrificial lamb in the bombing. Bummer.
I thought about it during the last episode of last season because the potential solution looked too easy, and then I went on reddit and there were several theories about this that were very good. I also think it's very possibly him. I also think Hal and Billie are onto something besides the VP thing
I realize it would have been impossible to cut a trailer that teases the entire second season without outright letting the audience know that both Hal and Stuart survived the explosion in the season 1 finale (RIP Ronnie), but it would have been nice to have been in a dark just a little. This is a minor complaint. The Diplomat is the best series I've seen in years and I can't wait for more!
This could have been such a good series if they hadn't gone so hard on making Trowbridge a wacky Boris Johnson spoof, as if the prime minister was some kind of deranged Trump-like character who was corrupt and willing to sell out his country. It just makes entire episodes of The Diplomat unwatchable because -- for a Brit -- it's impossible to believe what is effectively a Guardianista caricature of Johnson. No doubt there are biased viewers who will think Trowbridge is a great portrayal because they hated Johnson personally, but that just indicates a level of ignorance -- as a fan of this show, I really wish they had toned the caricature down on several of the key characters -- a more realistic, gritty angle could elevate it into a truly great series.
Writer's strike pushed everything back. It definitely feels like it shouldn't take a lot of time, but I think it's just that there's just flat out a lot more of these higher budget shows nowadays, not as easy to churn out
Notice the line, "That's the price of doing business ". Either that's a CIA saying...or it was lifted straight off Homeland season 8 in the penultimate episode. Still gonna watch season 2 though. First one was good. Still waiting for 2nd seasons of "The night agent", and "The recruit".
I think you're reaching...that is a common phrase that's been around for decades and used by people of every size business and as metaphors...of course, you could be right
I don’t like that the trailer shows both her husband & the black guy she works with survived the explosion. The uncertainty of their fates was part of the 1st season’s cliffhanger.
This show was an unexpected pleasure. More than keen for the story to continue.
Season 1 was a "can't find anything to watch so I'll just try this" and I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to S2
LOL- ME TOO! 😉😂

I really enjoyed season 1, but I'll have to re-watch parts of it, as I can't remember where the show left off... before binging season 2!
Same!
I'll remind you...'BOOM! 🗯💥'
@@cyde1345 yeah it took me a moment to remember the boom jajaja, im still going to rewatch 1st season, barely remember anything....
I already did a rewatch months ago because I loved it so much. Looks like I'll have to do a 3rd rewatch lol

NOOOOOOO
better less episodes than a bunch of "filler" padding it out.
It’s Netflix. We should be happy they could even keep someone like Keri Russell for a 2nd season.
WHAT?!
When I saw Allison Janney I SCREAMED.
ME TOO! VP!!!
That's ramping up the intensity!!!
wow! allison janey just wow!
west wing!!!
CJ is back!
My reaction as well. Love her!!!

So ready for this. One of the smartest shows in a long time.
Such a smart and wickedly funny series. I'm rewatching S1 to prepare for S2. 😊
Darn it, you're going to have to make me watch S1 too! Hahaha. Great chemistry, great writing.
Yes! First series since good wife that I can watch over and over. Worth watching season 1 again. Just wait a bit though. It’ll make you impatient for season two!
Already re watched it a couple of months ago. Really holds up to a rewatch. Just an amazingly well written and executed show. 😊
Keri Russell has come a long way from "Honey, I Blew up the Kid", which was the first time I ever saw her on screen.
I am so going to bingwatch this, I've been waiting for a second season since season 1 aired. I truly can't wait.
Glad it got renewed. It's a good show. Kind of keeps you thinking who's really who and who's good and who's bad?
Hurray, it is such a clever show, we need more of these!
Alison Janney...Lets go season 2!
I cannot wait! I don’t know why, but this is the first series I’ve watched over and over again
I’ve watched S1 3x 🤓 I’m hooked!
This one, The Gentlemen, and Lincoln Lawyer are my Netflix faves. Pleeeassse let them run for a long time.
OMG I AM FAR TOO EXCITED ALREADY FOR THIS! AND THEN YOU THROW ALLISON FREAKING JANNEY INTO THE MIX!? OMG!
I loved the first season. I'm so glad it got another season.
I'm so obsessed with this show. I can wait until 10/31.

nice! I'm honestly shocked Netlifx didn't cancel this as they normally do with good shows
I am all in On Kate and the Foreign Secretary
A unexpected gem! I enjoyed watching S1 looking forward to this
He’s alive!
Been waiting for this!!! And Allison Janney as VP!!!
They have a refreshingly honest marriage in this trailer.

Me too i don't know in dennison is fixated on removing the prime minister
Me too. As soon as she said, “Everything points to him (assuming Trowbridge),” I thought, “uh oh, it is Dennison.”
@@mrchuckles1022 And notice that in the voice over Dennison says, “If it’s coming from MY government” instead of our government.
