That's why this is the band which performs live even better than studio
Because they don't overdo it with layering too many guitar tracks on top of each other or more guitar tracks than actual guitarists. And they hold back on using effects most of time. Like Example: Afterlife, Critical Acclaim, and Beast and the Harlot all begin with three guitars going simultaneously (Syn Lead, Zacky Lead, and Zacky Rhythm), but live it's Syn Lead+Zacky Rhythm so Syn has to self-harmonize with his Sustainiac neck pickup. Because of this, they have all the same sound live as in the studio for most of their songs. Some other bands (especially Metallica) have like 4 separate rhythm tracks going with usually two leads and they only have two guitars so you lose some sound in certain places where rhythm takes a break for the leads to fit.

how does he self harmonize with his sustainiac neck pickup. i thought they were playing one part of the harmony through a PA, or maybe he plays the harmonies as two note chords, idk.
Most likely the axe fx unit if he's still using it as it's called intelligent pitch shifting

Lol, check out their 2001-2004 shows, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen era. After that, their 2006 and 2011-2013 shows - that's where the energy was. Shadows just doesn't look powerful these days anymore, and his stupid 'rap-like' movements on stage are back full force which is a shame. He looked badass with bald head and a sleeveless shirt exposing his guns. This is all IMHO of course.
Now how he is on stage reminds me of a popstar, I miss the old days

Jacob Trull Brooks is a great fit. The Rev knew Brooks and was always fond of him as a drummer. He was overlooked because he was a soft rock drummer, but The Rev saw something in him.
Branflakes1522 Brooks is a fucking phenomenal drummer. Portnoy was okay, but damn. It still doesn't feel like the Rev, of course it never will, but it feels like Brooks, and damn if that isn't a great feeling!
Hyper Lurki Portnoy is a legend for sure, but in terms of fit, Brooks is the right choice.
I'm going to see Metallica and A7X live in Atlanta. When I found out that A7X was going to be opening for them, I nearly fainted. I will get to see Metallica, my favorite band, and A7X, and amazing band as well, in the same concert. I am pumped.

If you don't like A7X You are getting way too old or just follow comments without researching. They are phenomenal and love their fans and as talented as anyone out there. Metallica would agree or they wouldn't be there. Avenged is really important to more of us that are die hard Metallica fans than you care to know. #foREVer

You can find lots of better singers, guitarists etc. but that don't make them better than Avenged as well.

The crowd turn out has nothing to do with the band, I'm a die hard a7x fan but it's because it's a concert for Metallica, the fans are for the most part there for them, go to an a7x headliner show, they're crazy packed, I saw them in Toledo and it was crazy and sold out, awesome show

I wish I could have been there. I begged MY children, not my ( mom) Joan is what I call her why some maybe thinking because she talked very, very bad about me behind my back when we lived there. Because their father was a drunk and doing drugs. Which I only knew the drinking. We got kicked out of house because I gave him money for anything the bills. Like they said I didn't know what he was doing. He also had sex with my neighbors. I was 15 first child. 23 when we got evicted that is when I knew. So had no choice but to live with Joan. Who turned my children against me. While I was at work, shopping, or even when I was there most of the time. We all have to work or go shopping for food. They changed towards me. I definitely knew my own mother hated me from birth up to still today. My sister's her favorite taught everything to responsibility and sure showed her love. That was why I started having children at 15 to love me. Well wrong again. Because I told children how much I love ADVENGED SEVENFOLD. Months ago so they could get tickets. Mother's day gift. Or just because I love ADVENGED SEVENFOLD. I won't get anything for mother's day. Who am I cooking. You maybe thinking there's more to story. No honestly Joan hated my from birth I couldn't cry, no calcium, muscle spasms, they had to get goat's milk I couldn't drink formula. I had gotten raped at 9. For a mother to have such attitudes towards me I didn't tell. My best friend told because he threatened me every time he saw me I will get you again. Who even let's a 9 year old to park with sister 11. I would never have until 16 or someone else parents. I went to Counselor. That stopped because I a 9 year old supposed to say that I didn't like. Not true. Had home schooled. Stopped I don't know why. Because it helped me and Mom didn't want. Joan mom gets it all that a mother gets just not me. I have M.S Joan got medical alert put it this way I say she is your mom. Because I am out cast by each one of my broken family members except my dad who left Joan mom. He said he couldn't wait to get away from them. So I wasn't only one. Seems that my sister is from different father. We aren't sisters. Sisters talk like friends we don't talk. I really appreciate it if reading. I really wish I knew why I am hated. And I gave life to my children not Joan mom. I just wanted to come to concert. I live in PA. I will be looking for when they are coming here. And buy my own ticket. One last thing someone else wants or needs they get for me no I don't know what I was thinking. But they all want from me because my heart is gold do anything for any of them. And they know. All I asked for one thing a ticket. Thanks

They seem to have a lot more energy this year than they have done since the Rev died. They looked so bored on stage during that time. I think it's related to Syn's hair, like it's an energy source or something as while he had the sides of his head shaved they had no energy but now that it's long again they all have energy...

Oscar Leon if my memory serves me right, they played (in no particular order) the stage, nightmare, buried alive, almost easy, afterlife, bat country, unholy confessions, and god damn. They probably played a few more songs, but this is what I remember off the top of my head from this show haha.
Later in the tour gojira is going to be playing instead of volbeat. I like gojira more than volbeat though, and I'm going to the the last show so that's good for me I guess

I was at this show purely for metallica, but I made sure to listen to a little A7X beforehand, and this song is like one of my favorites of all time now. They killed it and kept me entertained for their whole show. I'm not really sure about this crowd though, they were pretty dead for the whole night

Now it's the really A7X I have loved at first listening! This new drummer is also very good! It is good to see they giving their best at stage again, as only great bands and musicians are able to! The twin guitars surprised me positevely also!

My first heavy metal concert. I got to see Gojira, A7X, and Metallica all in one concert. The best experience i have ever had.
Would have been great to see this in Philly.... But i get it, family first.
This is why metal's last great hope-Avenged Sevenfold-gains nothing from touring with Metallica. They should return to headlining their own tours, which are wildly successful and insane in their own right.
On the surface, it would appear to be a good business decision by including the best present-day metal band (Avenged Sevenfold) on the tour circuit playing the largest venues. It should be a win-win for everyone involved, right? Metallica gets an excellent opening act for their tour, and Avenged can only potentially gain new supporters by reaching a larger audience as a result of playing the biggest venues. Makes sense on the surface, right? But there's a variable in all this that the record labels didn't factor into the equation: Metallica fans are just like their beloved band- old, stubborn, and uninspiring. Half of any Metallica audience nowadays is going to be out of shape, middle aged men who are only catching them play live now because they didn't get to see them 30 years ago when they were still on top of their game and playing inspired music. Hell, look at this: They had to start the damn show during daylight hours because Metallica & their fans both have to take their Metamucil and be in bed by 9:00 PM every night! I mean, this is just sad right here...
Metallica may have been the best metal band in the 80s and 90s, but Avenged have since taken up that banner and are now the ones who are entrusted with carrying the flag forward for the entire metal genre in the year 2017. Get these guys back to headlining their own shows! While the venues and crowds they play every night may not be as big as this, it'll at least have the most important ingredient required of a Rock show: energy and enthusiasm.

different drummers prefer different kits. The revs kit was over the top compared to other drummers. not taking anything away from his talents.

The musical styles of A7X and Metallica are way too different. I recon that Metallica should have had a bad that plays a similar style as their opener. I love both the old and new metal scene, but not both at once, and by the looks of it, the crowd doesn't either.
