Could we see a stress test of this ring? I love the design but I’m not convinced that the glow powder will stay in the grooves without a top layer of C/A protecting it.
This is the editor! I was the one who came up with the idea and I’ve actually been wearing this ring nonstop for over a month and haven’t had any issues!
Well being as they used the thin CA, the glow powder basically soaked it up and with how rough the surface is on that ring Id say the longevity is pretty good.
@@stonecyfer8225 that only works it the walls of the grooves are concaved, otherwise it will fall out eventually, and that was the point I was trying to make. The groove are very shallow, so I can only assume a few pounds of force in the right spot would pop them right out.
One suggestion I'd like to make -- in order to achieve better mixing of your powders, you should sift the powders together through a tight-mesh sieve a few times before funneling it back into the bottle.
dear Patrick, please don't stop doing the talking for your video's I really wish it was you in the entire video showing how it's done and talking. your content has been killer and I've been a fan and supporter of your work but I gotta say ever since you started having others do the videos and talking in them, lot less views and just alot less you kinda vibes, if that makes sense. I know how business works but as a hard-core supporter and advocate of you, please take this from the right heart! we want your content with you in it and your fresh take on things not others. that's what drew me to your content years ago. love your work man
Thanks for the feedback Luke! You're 100% right, its tough to do everything perfect while trying to grow a business, but we're figuring it out and I think the best years of this channel are still yet to come! :)
Thank you for your reply, I'll always watch your videos regardless and I have nothing against the others in the videos haha just really love what you bring to it.! Keep it up and I look forward to your new stuff. Also the ring was awesome! Is there a way to make the glow powder colored in the non glowing form?
Love your work Patrick & team! You've inspired me to make rings for the last couple of years. Also, your products are great. Thanks to you and your whole team.
I've been doing that for years.i even do it on my Damascus bracelet.i use black pigment though to keep the black look, then with what ever glow, mix.ca it or resins.iv used both
Same ring, but some pre-polishing of the metal and finder glow powder..or maybe some white epoxy to apply the powder....just to het that clean and sharp contrast....also...same thing with wood? maybe torch burn to get the grain to get the black on white play. Great idea and ring!
You should use the damascus pieces/shavings as like the copper bits in the sunken artifact ones. Can be like a 'Tailings' series. Have to wonder what the tally for injuries is thus far. Flying metal/hands close to moving machinery etc. just seems like there's a Lot of potential for ouch here. Other material ideas for ones like this: timascus, mokume gane, and superconductor.
Hi, I work with metal and rotary tools and these metal shavings that actually "spray" out are very light and don't fly too fast so unless you're not wearing eyepro and dust mask (or even a scarf but that's not very safe with rotary tools, just like gloves) you're gonna be fine. When sparks fly it's slightly different because while they're not gonna hurt you (it stings but dangerous levels of heat don't penetrate deep enough to deal damage to cells) however they do destroy clothes, an apron or literally just leather clothing is a good idea in this case
love the results, love the experimentation! skys the limit with different Damascus patterns too. maybe the glow damascus with a different material inlayed so you get some color pop when youre not in the dark? something green like malachite. subbed to see what else you come up with!
This looks really awesome, I'd be curious if you could get a better surface finish on the inlay if you sealed the CA with epoxy or something that would help amalgamate the crystals into the finished crevices. The polished edges contrast really well with the etched valleys and crystals, I just find myself noticing the pull out/gaps from the edges of the etches that don't have crystals in them.
Lobe your work. Let me give you a handy tip that changed my ring making on the lathe. Instead of drill bits use an annular cutter assembly to go into the tailstock. I got my carbide tipped annular bits off Amazon and the MT2 chuck off Amazon too. Cuts holes 3x faster since it cuts plugs
I'd love to see you try this with finely ground opal dust! Would be cool to try this concept with superconductor too! You might even be able to use this process to make a superconductor ring that looks like its covered in glowing dragon scales if you cut the grain at the correct angle. :D
I love the concept of this Ring, (I very much like what you are doing!!) but as a personal taste: I do not like the color of the glow powder in daylight. For me it should fit more to the metal. I do not know if black, or other metal-colors are possible to mix, but this how I feel about it. Keep up what you are doing!
Its so cool seeing you go from when you were doing stuff with hand tools to now. Though it makes me wonder if my obsidian superconductor with meteorite inlay was hand made or not. It has faithfully served as my wedding ring since May 2019. Ive had like 4 diff YT accounts since but i keep ending up back at your content lol
Stainless steel is my favorite metal. And who doesn't love damascus?! (I own a necklace pendant of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kwan Yin, made of stainless steel.)
awesome ring! I would love to see how that pattern turns out without the inlay cutout around the outside, like just the etched pattern with glow dust would look sick and maybe in a sky blue? just food for thought :)
I have a stainless damascus wedding ring with oak barrel on the inside. Pretty cool what you did with this one. I wear mine 24/7 and the etch darkness rubs off wearing gloves. What acid you used? I use flurixloride for about 30 seconds, and then instant coffee to really darken it.
Different color glow powders. Personally I’d like red. Ooo also that Spirograph Damascus from the deep space ring! With a yellow/amber glow? Honeycomb ring!
Such a cool idea and turned out amazing. I am a knife maker hobbyist and primarily make Damascus. Wonder how that would look on a knife? Might just have to try that 😎
I have one of your tungsten glow rings with opal, dinosaur bone, and some other cool stuff for almost 2 years now. The CA glue seems to be slowly wearing down which is exposing some of the pieces in the inlay. Is there something I should do to stop, slow and or repair this? Thanks in advance. Also, the ring turned out beautiful
I've always wondered do you make the ring to your exact size or do you make it larger. I want to make a ring myself here but I have a fear of em get stuck on
Good looking ring but it looked a little chunky at the end, I would suggest grinding your glow powder into a finer dust. No disrespect I love the channel
Is there a possibility of when it is still in the light of being Greener so not doing the white colored with it and adding emeralds or fossilized wood to the band
I would like it better without the inlay channel, for more natural look, and if it would be possible keep the metal black like after the etching.with some red or orange glow it would be a perfect ring for my taste.
I don't know how much that powder costs, but I would have put down a thin sheet of plastic under the work area to catch everything that fell off the ring. Save it, and put it back in the bottle.
I've noticed the surface looks a little meshed with powder, what if surface will be covered with thin layer of transparent lacquer? Or at least scratch patterns where powder is...
Amazing ring Just my opinion. But I think with such an intricate design in the Damascus, would of looked better without the groove cut into the ring and let the full Dama pattern speak for itself.
Neat project the only downside was the camera shake/effect when you were sanding or moving a bit on the lathe the shake back and forth was making me nauseous. I feel like that shake took away from the work

Just ordered a imperial opal ring with blue glow powder on a Damascus band. I'm so excited. Will use as my wedding ring.

That ring doesn't glow in the dark, it needs UV light to glow.

Could do the inlay on the lathe after adding the glow powder to get a second glow colour in it
So shiny and glowy

This was an awesome idea and it turned out amazing!! Nice work!!
Some sapphire or emerald in the inlay would really be awesome I think. It would give a awesome look to the ring in daytime!
Very interesting, I didn’t even think that it was possible

I'd love to see a white ring, maybe opal or pearl, with a white or opalescent glow in the dark
Love how it turned out however for a round 2, no inlay with orange or red glow powder would be fire!!
A deep etch meteorite with red glow could be pretty cool.

Wow! Cool ring for Halloween. X
Thank you!
Really cool! I bet you could probably do it in other color powders as well!
Dude I see you more in Stradman videos than on your own channel.
Love it. Maybe use an extra fine glow powder next time. Can you mix it in the epoxy first?
Try deep edge damascus with clear or translucent epoxy. Or clear epoxy with metal flakes/dust.
Looks cool. It kind of gives off a glowing haunted forest vibe. 👻
does this ring need to be sealed? if so what sort of seal would i need to apply to it to prevent skin reactions?

Is it possible for it to be black instead of white and glowing red?
It’s definitely possible. It just won’t glow as bright when it’s mixed with a black pigment. It would look super cool though!

8:47 Who the heck is this?!
this would look insane on a damascus sword thats been blued
Is this deliverable to India?
Don't know how I feel about the ring it looks great but the grainy glow powder is a minus to me
I’d like to see the same but in purple or blue.
