Thank you, easy and the best explanation so far. I was graduated from Ez wheel school in New Jersey, and they didn't even teach me how to do a pre-trip inspection.

Loved the tip about aligning the drive tires with the center of the dock or parking space 😊

Pretty much all of these backing vidoes teaches you how to back, but doesn't explain the concept behind it. Like why do you steer left to go right, & steer right to go left. That is because you're pushing the trailer, when you're reversing, instead of pulling when you're going forward. Confused? Take any object, phone, cigarette box, eraser. Push it with your finger so that it swing to the left/right.
It's all about the placement of your tandem. It doesn't matter where the front of your tractor is, left, center, right, wherever. Blindside backing is same as normal backing. It's just harder cuz you can't see, that's all. Hence blindside. But still possible if you get out & look, notice your position, mentally keep track of your trailer & tractor as you navigate into your dock. Go slow.
If you're at a truck stop, don't be afraid to ask a fellow driver to help you. Get his phone #, put him on speaker, so you can hear his instructions.

@@Mahatmaghat Glad I could help. I came up with the forward-pulling, reverse-pushing idea because my sister asked me why you turn left to go right, & right for left.
You also know about how the position of your tandem affects how much the rear of your trailer swings out right? If tandem is forward toward the tractor, trailer will swing out more, which could hit the trailer besides you. Tandem all the way to the rear, less swinging.

It's weird how backing over the left is easy, but over the right it gets tricky really fast

Because as a normal car driver you are used to it and the position of the driver seat too

Sad my school didn’t teach this. They thought us how to straight line but when it came to parking and alley back they pretty sad you’re on your own

I love this!!! Some days I feel like I need to go back to the basics. You go on all these channels and they show you “look at me, backing in”, teaching you nothing. I like steps. I like to know what to look for, and steps to do it properly. Thanks 💯.

That is where I learned to back. I was backing some insane places. It helps that I backed up 15 to 25 times a day. Now working in freight, I have 0 issues backing

Or. Don't Block everything while you waddle your way to open the doors. Open your doors and slide your tandems at a 90⁰ so you're not blocking all of the other drivers. Then make your back.. good grief
