Great story! Reminds me of my grandfather, who taught me to shoot, hunt and fish. I miss that man, a man of few words.
I had a heart attack just under a year ago ( 62 years old) at a young age. The two things the cardiologist does not tell you is. 1) your stamina will depleted and 2) you WILL have depression. Thank you Cam , your podcasts have helped me in so many ways. I listen to Dixie Cryptic, and your other podcasts while I take my walks to increase my stamina. While listening to your podcasts makes me happy . I’ve noticed my depression slowly melt away. It’s the stories, your voice , and down to earth way you read the stories. I appreciate you buddy .

God Bless you Mike, I am going through something similar... I went from being a top builder in New England East Coast Boston area. Then at 59 3+ years ago, I had mini stroke, both legs seemed unbalanced, have gone through one Emergent Surgery, need 1 - 2 more. From being completely physically fit my whole life, fought in Ring until 32 semi pro full contact kick boxing, to being the one to run towards danger actually saving a life before a vehicle exploded he was trapped in, etc to being so depressed I question my own existence. Some days are better than others. I keep telling myself,
Never Quit Jim, Never Quit ! It's the toughest fight I've ever been in.
I have JESUS CHRIST as my Lord and Personal Savior, and I too love listening here, lol. Praying for you my friend my Brother. God Bless you. Amen

Fabulous story , kind of bittersweet but at least his Grandfather told his truthful version of events , it's just sad that his dad never believed what he got told all those years before. 😢

Broke my heart! One of my favorite stories ever told by you! I STRUGGLE with poor relationship with my 22 year old daughter and haven’t had relationship with my father for a decade. I’m 62 in April. I remember the days the kids had to stay in the car while the parents shopped. Yes it got hot and cold but we kept our mouth SHUT OR GET OUR MOUTHS SLAPPED AND A GOOD BAR OF SOAP!

Oh. My. Gosh. What a sad but touching story. This is one of those that borders on fact or fiction. This poor boy was caught in the middle of something out of his control, becoming the victim of it all. It depresses me when adults can’t lay aside their differences for the sake of their family.
