That part of David's story is downplayed HARD compared to the rest of this life. Just saying. The version I learned was essentially "whoops he done goofed lol" as we spent not even 15 minutes on it. The story of him vs Goliath was several classes long.
Bang on. I’m a Christian, this has been taught in my church plenty of times. That’s the point of the story, he committed murder and adultery but he repented but it had ramifications that went through his genealogy just like God told him. Because of that transgression one of his sons raped one of his daughters to another wife and then his own son Absolom rose up to rebel and try and take his kingdom.
The Bible does not condone slavery. What is termed slavery in the Old Testament is indebted servitude and on the year of Jubilee they were all set free unless they chose to remain. It was a way of paying debts that couldn’t otherwise be paid.
There’s another story in the Bible that people never talk about that’s really dark It’s about a man who does everything right, spends his life doing nothing but helping people, then he gets betrayed by his best friend, denied by other friends, he gets beaten severely, by people he was trying to save, and then he gets crucified and even his own father, that could of easily saved him, forsakes him in his very last minutes of his life The guy that went through that, accepted all that torture, for a bunch of people who didn’t even exist yet
My Savior prayed to the Father: “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word” Lord Jesus, “for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
Yep. Then you have Solomon who was the wisest man to date. He did many great things including building the temple. Despite his wisdom, however, he was persuaded by his wife to worship idols. The Old Testament is a series of lessons and failures. The failures lead to the flood and eventually the Savior. Everyone will know, one way or another.
If you are really nerdy that David story is a replaying of the garden of Eden pay attention to the words used. "David SAW, David Took, David hid... etc etc..." but if you are interested in stuff like that go deep in the meaning of the stories I highly recommend the bible project podcasts. They uncover the bible in a way that makes sense when you sit to think about it.
These stories have so many lessons embeddee for the reader. We are supposed to realize things like the idea that David is an extremely flawed man, and yet God loves him. We, too, can be loved by God, despite our flaws.
Thank you. I thought that maybe she was making a joke about this or something. I have probably forgotten a lot of the things I knew when I was a bible classes goer (as a kid) but even I remember King David’s story and the stories surrounding Jacob and his near descendants. 😂
Was going to say we teach this regularly. I mean it's a great story. It teaches even the greatest person of God can fall and give in to temptation ruining all of the good works and deeds they made.
@@jordandavis4318 good comeback man😂 People would only see the surface for these stories but doesn't understand that David truly repented for his sins and asked God for forgiveness. God is Almighty and Holy, so does what he sees fit because God has never committed a sin and is our creator
"A lot of it is tedious history". "There's a lot that contradicts itself" These are not the words of someone who understands the full story of the Bible.
Yeah, it's not a secret. It's in the "book of truth" that nobody reads. She didn't say That it was a secret. She said nobody knows about it because nobody reads it.... Because other people just tell them what are supposed to think about it.
The Bible says people push the truth away because they love their sin too much. It also says, "The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.'" Deep down, people know there is a God, but they also know to acknowledge God would mean there would be moral accountability. People don't want that.
Absolutely because we all have a measure of faith that can move mountains. We're having the breath of God inside me like he does. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Or it could be that the facts and the evidence isn’t sufficient enough to prove the existence of god and that its really not that evil to do very natural human things (provided nobody gets hurt)
I can't believe we're still debating the validity of some parts of the Bible. See that's the problem. The bible has moments of historically accurate stories. But when the authors tell me these are gods words I gotta laugh. Do you guys really think God was ok with slaves? Do you think God really explained how to justify you owning humans? How about this. Show me something in the bible that exceeds the knowledge of the people when it was written. I'll wait
The fact that she talks about the story of david And Bathsheba, and says this is not a story that is taught shows that this woman isn not well informed. The story may not be taught to younger childeren, but as a teen and and young adult it absolutely is.
Well if it is not taught in “Sunday School” and it most likely is not spoken about in great detail at the Pulpit, I guess that leaves Adult Bible Study on Wednesday nights…?
You're named "David" though, right? Doesn't that at the very least indicate you might be more well informed about your name's historicity, or for that matter know more of the story of "David" than the common "believer"? What is your specific faith/denomination/nationality, if you don't mind me asking? I would argue the answer to any of my questions would likely reveal why you think what you're saying is true.
The Bible has a lot of stories about some really messed up people and family dynamics. Why? Because in 2024 there are a lot of messed up people and family dynamics. It proves that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, we all need redemption...

The fact that the imperfections of the people of God are on full display throughout the Bible is one of the most compelling things about it. Clearly not hiding anything.
✝️🙌 So true! I think it's about loyalty in the end. Living the Christian life has never been easy, but knowing who you serve is. Both of those Old Testament examples were under a different dispensation predating Christ of course. But still, imperfect people through the ages, trying to walk the walk and serve God is what it's all about.
I read the bible in full every year since I been saved and that's 32 yrs now and I would never go back and I could inform you way better then this woman. ❤
Exactly, it's not just a rule book. It's an exploration of good and evil. Hero's in it sometimes do bad things. Thief and criminals in it sometimes do good things.
I love the story of David. It shows that God can use anyone and anything all to His glory. Our human nature to sin doesn't affect His plan one single bit. The end of the story is David went through deep depression, had one of his friends call him out for his sin (as Christians should do for each other, in love, of course), and David repented and drew closer to God. The point of David and Bathsheba is grace, mercy, redemption, forgiveness, accountability, and consequences. It also shows how quickly you can fall down the rabbit hole just by starting with a "little" sin. I was taught that David should have been at battle with his men and not lounging on his own rooftop looking at Bathsheba. Bathsheba was bathing on the rooftop because all the men were supposed to be gone at war.
I thought it was simple, and a birds eye view lesson 🤷🏻♂️ why cant people get it? They let shallow surface thoughts win and "fight" against the bible.... whut😂
Right all the men but what about the boys? 😅 Still no reason for a woman to be bathing out in public. But let me enlighten you a little bit. The Bible is first a law book. The story about Tamar i kid you not you will find that this law that saved her is written in the code of Hammurabi. I looked it up. Fascinating how much of those laws are still in effect today. Best part is it's so finely detailed with specific conditions just like the story of Tamar and David's adultery. In other words because it was her father-in-law that got her pregnant then it was okay and not just that the losses he now has to take care of her and she's not guilty of anything because she did it for survival she did it because she had no other way to survive and she had a kid to take care of so she had to do what she had to do and because it was a father-in-law that did it then now he's forced to take care of her and the baby and the child that she already had with I guess his son on and also speaks on dowry a lot. Also inheritance in fine detail.
I hate that so many men use the story of David to rationalize their philandering and other sins. The story of Bathsheba is that, because all the men were supposed to be gone, she thought she could bathe on the roof. However, King David saw her, and wanted her, and the king always get what he wants. After she discovered she was pregnant, he had her husband killed. After she had the baby, he died, and it must have broken her. Bathsheba was a victim of David, just as her husband had been. She had nothing but her husband and her home, and David destroyed all of that, for his lust. The one piece of redemption for her, was the birth of Solomon. I hate that no one thinks of what Bathsheba actually experienced. It’s all about David, and the power of the men around her.
As far as David’s sin with bathsheba, and forgiveness and coming closer to God.. yeah he was probably more penitent after that, but he is in hell right now for what he did. When Jesus was resurrected and the tombs of the prophets opened, then David’s did not.
Actually, most churches do not shy away from those stories, at all, especially the story of David and Uriah. That's why religious folk will name their kids Uriah, and they become MMA fighters.

Listen... Upon character based philosophical and ethical deconstruction, the ONLY conclusion that you can come to is that the bible is SO GROSSLY morally and ethically inconsistent that in truth (and I know this is difficult to hear), it doesn't deserve the moral pedestal that's often thrust upon it... The bible's moral spectrum ranges from murderous baby killing genocide to societal pacifism and everything else in between... You can't depend on that in our modern age without cherry picking scripture to suit YOUR ideals... If both a genocidal maniac and pacifist can use scripture to validate their point of views with so called "Godly approval" then it tells you everything you need to know... Fake Christians do not know this story of David. Unless your parents were crazy religious zealots that forced you to go to church before you could even have rational thought, you don’t know these stories, and CERTAINLY don’t defend them like you do
As a Christian who has attended thousands of sermons I’m sure hundreds mentioned this fall of David. There’s so many lessons we learn from it. She also didn’t mention how it ended with God punishing David and David severely repenting and God forgiving David but not removing the consequences of his sin that literally followed him for the rest of his life. These consequences that followed David for this sin actually costed David three kids, four if you count how his daughter turned out from trauma, and to be cheated on and betrayed the rest of his life. As far as God killing Onan, well yeah the Messiah was going to come through Judah and this guy wouldn’t keep the line going so God had to sovereingly remove the problem for His plans to advance. Onan wasn’t innocent in this. He was not fulfilling a man’s duty in those days. And yeah what Tamar and Judah both did was dark and awful but God didn’t approve. The way she talks you would think God was so happy with this stuff happening. No way. God recorded everything that happened faithfully but it didn’t say He approved of it. As I showed often God judged people (like David) for the stuff they did. But what are these stories meant to really show us? The Bible isn’t about the blessed good but the blessed bad. Man is extremely sinful. God is extremely good. And God has endless grace for repentant misfits with endless problems
@@DblTap317 if God doesn’t punish David, God is seen as winking at his sin. If He does punish David he is seen as cruel. Can God win in your ideology? You can be free from punishment though through accepting Jesus taking that punishment for you ( Romans 8:1, John 3:18). But yes God is perfect. Perfect justice means He always must punish sin. Perfect mercy means He must always pardon it. The cross is where this justice and mercy kiss. Your sin is punished in the body of Jesus. You walk away receiving mercy & pardon. If you reject or fail to accept this by receiving Jesus though, you default to opting to pay for your own sins which is hell. And satan won’t be punishing you. He will be suffering too. God won’t be punishing you. He won’t be there. And that’s kinda what makes hell, well, hell. It’s the absence of the presence of God. God really doesn’t want this for you. He absolutely loves you. So He gave you Jesus so you can have a relationship with Him and your sins no longer the issue between you and God. But you must recieve it by faith

some big discrepancies in the telling of the story of Tamar. After Judah lost his second son. His last son wasn't given to Tamar for two reasons, one, he was too young and the second is because Judah was afraid he might loose his last son. So he didn't promise Tamar that she will be the wife of his last son for these two reasons and not the one reason mentioned in the video. Tamar went back to her home as instructed by Judah, again that is all that Judah does, he instructs her to go and wait at her fathers house. Tamar while at her fathers home wore cloths that is synonyms for someone who is a widow and grieving. She finds out that Judah is coming to where her fathers home is because he wants to sheer his sheep, upon hearing this Tamar has a plan. She knows that she isn't pledged to Judah's last son and she wants to take it upon herself to get pregnant. So she takes for cloths that are meant for grieving and switches them for cloths that is synonyms for a prostitute at that time. Main point here is that she is wearing a head veil and as such no one can see her face. Judah walks into this town/village and sees this prostitute who is wearing a veil and he asks to sleep with her. This is where the video goes off the rails. She asks Judah what she will get in return for sleeping with him and she knows that this is her father in law and he doesn't know who she is. He says he will give her one of his sheep in his village/camp. Judah isn't at his camp/village, so this is supposed to be a promise for future payment. She asks him for a guarantee for this payment. He asks what she wants and she says she wants a seal with his cord and his staff. He agrees and he sleeps with her. Judah didn't sleep with her and not have payment, they discussed how Judah will pay her and she played him in this part of the story. Tamar isn't this poor innocent person and neither is Judah. So she goes back to her fathers home and switches into her cloths meant for grieving. Judah returns to his camp and sends a friend to pay her but he cannot find her and he returns to Judah and tells him that she cannot be found. He is embarrassed that she has his seal and staff. But he makes peace with the idea that she has stolen it. We all now know that this was Tamar's plan, she didn't want a sheep, she was playing Judah and got proof of the person she slept with. The video made it sound like Tamar became a prostitute because she wanted to make a living. This isn't true, she wanted to get pregnant from sleeping with her father-in-law. Plain and simple. She got pregnant and Judah is told that Tamar is found to be pregnant and the assertion is that she prostituted herself. Judah wants her killed but before she is killed she sends him his staff and seal. Tamar honey potted Judah and got what she felt she deserved. Moral of the story. Men need to keep it in their pants coz women who are just selling sex cannot be trusted. The other moral of the story is do what is right, Judah in his fear doesn't give assurances to Tamar that she will be married off, so when he didn't do that the rest of the story played out as it did. Judah is also the same guy who earlier discouraged his brothers from killing Joseph but instead mentioned to have him sold. Joseph lived and as per what is said in the bible he became the second highest in Egypt and also saved Egypt and his family from starvation. So Judah is seen as someone who loved his family when the rest of them were okay with killing one of them. He isn't perfect but neither is Tamar and all of them played their role.
Well put , also by God's providence Tamar gives Birth to Twins, Perez and Zerah, which from Judas line Comes King David, and ultimately our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God is Sovereign over all, as Joseph said to his Brother's you meant it for evil but God meant it for good
im confused. Did Tamar had sex with her Father in law or played like she did??? And y he didn't go see Tamar back at her father house after he had sex with the "prosistute"( or he didnt)🤷
Also, it was Judah's duty as the patriarch to ensure his oldest son's lineage continued because he didn't have children before he died. That's why Tamar married his next son. But their first child would've been counted as the oldest son's to ensure his lineage continued. The brother didn't like that and refused to get her pregnant and the Lord killed him. Thus the duty of continuing the Judah's oldest son's lineage fell to his youngest son. This also was the custom so that that the Tamar would be provided for. Most marriages were arranged anyways back then so this wasn't that strange. After Judah's youngest son became of age Judah shirked his duty to both provide for Tamar and ensure his eldest son's lineage out of fear that the Lord would kill that son too. (The Lord struck down his oldest son because he was wicked). What Tamar did was take it apon herself to both provide for herself and ensure her first husband's lineage. So, Tamar and Judah both sinned by fornicating but she did it for somewhat honorable reasons to pick up Judah's slack. So when Judah went to lead the stoning of her for prostituting (with him) she showed that he was lacking in his duties and morals and was more righteous than he.
@@loganwallace5854 a bit mistaken here. His youngest son wasn't of age at any point in this story. Tamar assumed that Jacob wasn't going to allow his youngest to be married to her. This was her reasoning for deceiving Jacob. They were both in the wrong but Jacob says that she was more righteous than him. So the assumption here is that Jacob knew he didn't betroth his youngest son to Tamar as he was afraid he too will be killed. But they both are wrong for what they did. Who knows if Tamar even cared for any of Jacob's children. If she was married to one of them is all she wanted. Key part here is that Jacob's youngest son wasn't of age to get married throughout the story but it is revealed that Jacob's only reason was probably that he was afraid his son would be killed for the same reasons.
@@TheFergo911 When Judah met Tamar and thought she was a prostitute, she saw that the youngest son was grown and wasn't given to her to marry as Judah had promised her. She had her grieving veil own and he came and asked to sleep with her. He acknowledged that he reneged on his promise to to her.
When david prayed after this he begged god not to lose the lord's favor, even if he lost everything else for his sin. Thats how the story ends. The story of David is about his sin and his repentance and the consequences of his sin because of what he did with Bethsheba. The thing that separated David from King Saul was that David was repentant. It took some convincing but David repented. When he became aware of the evil had committed he went before God in prayer. He was his sincere repentance that God honored, but it doesn’t mean that he didn’t have consequences for his sin. Least that’s how I understand it. I hope that helps you, Michelle, and Joe. Not true the Bible clearly condones slavery as a perfect moral practice . In clearly describes it as slavery in Exodus 21 and gives rules and conditions on how Jews can own slaves and how they can own fellow Jews as slaves by driving a spike through their ear to mark them as property . Also In Leviticus God says "if a man lay with a man like he lay with a women he shall be put to death and his blood is on his own hands " Clear as day !! Also to stone to death unruly children and women who cheat on their husbands . The Bible condoning murder and sitting it's own laws in place that it Deems morally acceptable . The term they use is slavery so Christian apologist have a hard time getting around it . Also it doesn't explain after God delivered mosses to the supposed promise land he then orders Moses and the Jews to slaughter the amolokites and amedenites and to take the women and children for themselves as slaves and to capture and take what's their and go to war with the neighboring nations around them .
Why would the Old Testament authors include such embarrassing details with no “happy endings” in each book? It describes the constant failures and sin from Israel’s leaders, to prove the point that no man can conquer sin, we all need a savior. The Bible states this from the very beginning with Adam’s fall followed by God foreshadowing the need for a new Adam (Jesus) as God promised in Genesis 3 someone from Eve’s offspring would conquer the serpent and redeem mankind. All of it points to Christ.
What is left out is what the Lord did to punish David for this evil act. Part of the greater story here in my opinion is. No matter the blessings the Lord God may grant and give you as well as your importance in the God's plan. We are all human and sinners capable or good and evil. No matter how important to God plan you are or are not, we all fall short of what it takes to get into Heaven. God knows this and this is why he sent Jesus to die for our sins, so that we can experience and fill the Kingdom of Heaven.

Unlike Joe, most of the people I talk to will dig in and defend the lie. What good does that do? You want to retain your ideas not based in reality? (1) Read the whole thing for yourself. Not that hard. Sure, it's a long work, but not that long. Or (2) trust me when I tell you where you're wrong. Don't like that? See (1).

There is a reason why seminary students (at least in most evangelical seminaries) are required to study Hebrew, ancient cultures, language forms, etc. There is a cultural context that must be understood. And these things are not hidden from anyone; are commonly discussed in most churches, and if someone hasn't heard them, then one ought to question what sort of church you have been attending.
The story of Jepthah's daughter (found in Judges 11:1-12:7) was the most bizarre & disturbing story revealed to me years ago. It is the kind of story a feminist might never forgive or forget. I was introduced to it when my pastor used it as the basis of a sermon, which caused me great distress back in the '60s as a young teen (& before my conversion). It affected me deeply for several reasons. I didn't appreciate the depth of sacrifice God was requiring of the daughter, or the need for Jephthah to fulfil his vow (which seemed rather "crazy" in my mind at the time). Also, the story never reveals the daughter's name, she was an only child, she apparently made her decision without consulting anyone except God, & her decision alleviated any feelings of guilt the father may have felt...however, I really wondered if he felt ANY guilt. The girl simply accepted her fate without question, much like the Blessed Mary & Christ Himself. The story certainly brings the unfairness of life & situations outside of our control into stark view. . I'll allow you to read it for yourself if you're interested.
It had a nice ending too, because the ghost got to move on to the afterlife. She was brutally murdered and a priest helped find her killer. He ended up giving the money she left behind to the church, at her request. Some ghosts just want someone to listen to them.
Thank you this is the comment I was looking for. I couldn't remember the name of that book.I remember when I was in elementary school that picture scared the crap out of me.
Here’s another interesting and violent Bible story for the comment section. There was a leader of the Canaanite army named Sisera. He and his soldiers were fighting against the Israelites under a leader named Barak. Sisera’s army fell and all of them were killed, but Sisera himself ran away. A lady named Jael saw him outside her house and she told him to come inside, that she was a friend and would protect him. He went in with her and she gave him milk to drink and a blanket. He told her to watch the door, and if anyone came by, to say that she was alone in the house. She agreed to this and Sisera laid on the floor with the blanket and fell asleep. Jael then took a hammer and nail, while Sisera was asleep, and drove it through his temple and nailed his head to the floor of her house. She left him just like that, and eventually Barak came by, still hunting Sisera. Jael met Sisera outside and told him she had the man he was looking for, and led him to the dead Sisera, his head still spiked to the floor. Edit: Judges 4:14-22 if you want to read it for yourself
Deborah and Jael is one of my favorite stories! This is a great example of how God does use women in authority. There's so much to learn from Deborah's story (Jael is just part of it). There's some great devotionals about it in the Bible app, you version.
I call bulldshit on that too. To read the entire Bible in less than a year (she would need to in order to read in cover to cover at one age) would take quite a commitment. Maybe she started reading at 8. Maybe she read a decent amount of it at 8. But I think I unlikely she finished it before she turned 9.
Dang they’ve twisted up so much in this video! God didn’t command David to sleep with Bathsheba, it’s a historical account of what happened. David did so many great things in his life but he’s human just like the rest of us and did horrible things too then was severely punished for them. The Bible doesn’t teach that women are second class citizens in fact, feminists would love how valued women were viewed (especially compared to other civilizations). The Bible didn’t condone slavery either. Its historical account of the horrors of the enslaved Israelites was recorded then God brings the smack down on the Egyptians for the horrible things they did to the slaves. In the mosaic law, there are 3 parts- moral law (10 commandments given at Mt. Sinai) civil law (the laws given to the recently freed Israelites after wandering the desert and having a plethora of civil issues) and the ceremonial law (how to conduct yourselves when making offerings to God). The civil law began because Moses was in a predicament. There were millions of people (12 tribes of Israel) trying figure out how to be it’s own society with law and order. At first, Moses sat down and everyone who had conflict lined up to tell Moses what happened then Moses would decree what needs to happen. This was inefficient and not sustainable so his father-in-law recommended appointing Elders in every tribe to handle issues as well as laws to govern the people. Back then, if someone stole from you, for example, the perpetrator was required to pay them back plus tax. If they couldn’t, they were required to pay them back with 7 years of indentured servitude then freed (unless they wanted to stay). There were rules about how to treat them and they were considered a part of the family unit. Back then, people really relied on each other because there was so much hard labor that needed to be done to survive. This punishment of indentured servitude is completely different than how we view slavery. And God doesn’t ever command us to have slaves.
Heard about David and Bathsheba since I was a kid. Unbelievers who read the Bible always think they’re doing something. Did she read about David’s prayer of repentance?
That story is about Judah, the son of Jacob who became known as Israel. Rehab and Ruth are also in the line of Christ. There IS a message in that, at least, I have found one for me.
They always are in shock & dismay over It condoning slavery (BONDSERVANTS paying a debt owed to people with their service & were freed after 7 years unless they chose to stay as a beloved part of that family) leaving out how God disapproves of harsh evil American slavery.
She’s wrong the modern day Protestant Bible has 66 but originally had 80 or somewhere in the 70’s. Catholic Bible to this day has 73. Orthodox Bible has anywhere from 70’s something to 80.
I grew up in church and the only stories that weren't taught were 2 in i think Judges. The first is were a crowd demanded that a stranger in town be given to them so they could rape him, but the man hosting the stranger instead gave them his female servant. So they beat and gang raped the girl and afterwards, she crawls back to her masters house and dies outside his front door. If i remember right, this starts a big conflict where cities go to war with one another. The second is when a man prays to God for victory in battle and promises to sacrifice the first thing that approaches him when he gets home. So after the fight his daughter who is his only child is the first to approach him. He then lets his daughter go and grieve her virginity on a mountain with her friends for a time, and when she returns he sacrifices her.
That first one is essentially a representation of the historicity of God separating himself from Israel. The woman being raped by strangers and then murdered by her master (literally dismembered and her parts sent across all of Israel) is one of the strongest examples of how far the culture had fallen at the time, "that such a thing could happen here" is basically what everyone's response was, which is why conflict arose from it. The heaviest aspect of it being that the woman's master had become so callous that he didn't just let her die on his doorstep, he disrespected her corpse and let everyone else know about it. It was one of the ultimate examples of the fall from grace at that time in the nation's history.
I was expecting the story of Jepthah's daughter as well. I think that is one of the most terrifying stories in the Bible. What an ignorant deal to make!
I don't understand how an 8 year old could even comprehend half of the words or meanings in the Bible.... I'm 33 and I still get confused reading it. 😂
Depends on which version you read. Try reading the Hebrew -Greek-English version and you will be left confused all day. I understand why it was translated in simpler versions.
A common trend with people who simply scratch the surface of the Bible. Many are so prideful that they truly believe that they're going to find something over two thousand years of scholars have not known about already. So instead of asking: "What did these people know that I do not know?" They say: "I know what these people do not know." They have their reward.

The Bible can be rough because it has a lot of beautiful things to say but also stories that are not for the faint of heart. What if it was beer? Whiskey? How about wine? Is wine better, since the Bible discusses wine more often, or do you associate religion with "lack of alcohol"? The Bible doesn't forbid smoking or drinking. It permits drinking and forbids alcoholism (or excessive drunkenness). Smoking is not mentioned.

All stories in the Bible are metaphors or parables but the second story she told is described the staff which is referring to your spine and the christos oil going down the spine and it must return back up to the brain in order to be in a land flowing with milk and honey, Santa’s gifts, etc. whenever you hear child or baby, it’s referring to a purity of the mind. Pretty tame stuff. How about this: In Exodus as Moses after encountering Yahweh in Sinai proceeds to Egypt with his wife Zipporah and his son Gershon . They stop to spend the night in an inn. Then Yahweh tries to kill him, Zipporah was aware beforehand(how she knew is not explained) , so naturally she circumcised Gershon with a flint knife and placed that bloody foreskin on Moses's own junk and states "Bridegoom of blood thou art to me" , this satiates Yahweh who departs. A sort of foreshadowing of the lamb of blood on doors of Israelites I suppose.

•David's Heart and Intentions: As a seasoned warrior, David understood the harsh realities of war and saw Bathsheba as a woman legally widowed by her husband’s conditional divorce before battle. Believing their union was divinely intended, he sought to protect and cherish her, knowing her husband was absent and indifferent. •Complexity of Kingship: David faced a difficult dilemma as king. Uriah’s steadfast devotion to battle, while noble, left Bathsheba a living widow. Uriah’s defiance also threatened the throne’s authority. David, with his warrior's understanding of honor, chose to allow Uriah to die in battle rather than as a traitor. David also made efforts to address the troubled circumstances he had intervened in, attempting to mend the situation and honor Uriah’s memory. •Repentance and Redemption: David acknowledged his wrongdoing and despite the curse of death that struck his family as a consequence of his actions, David maintained a repentant heart. His devotion to Bathsheba and their son Solomon, who continued the Davidic line, reflects his commitment to restoring righteousness after recognizing his mistake.

Bang on. I’m a Christian, this has been taught in my church plenty of times.
It's a worldwide podcast. Most people aren't Christian.
There’s another story in the Bible that people never talk about that’s really dark
It’s about a man who does everything right, spends his life doing nothing but helping people, then he gets betrayed by his best friend, denied by other friends, he gets beaten severely, by people he was trying to save, and then he gets crucified and even his own father, that could of easily saved him, forsakes him in his very last minutes of his life
The guy that went through that, accepted all that torture, for a bunch of people who didn’t even exist yet
Nah, it was because "god" required a blood sacrifice. Period. Let's get real here.
My Savior prayed to the Father: “I do not ask for these only,
but also for those who will believe in me through their word”
Lord Jesus, “for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

If a boy was old enough for that stuff, he was old enough for war @@edgarv7879.

The bible is ethically inconsistent and anachronistic, that's a FACT not an opinion... Which is the subtext of the conversation.

Okay, you’ve heard the bogus immoral stories. Not the point. The point is you’re too morally repugnant to disavow the book. The point is not that you know all of the dark stories. Congrats! You are a douche
Also, many people claim to be Christians, but don’t go to church so really only know a few stories, like Isaac and Abraham (which that should be enough to make someone say fuck god anyway) and other stories.
So God punishes in life and Satan punishes in afterlife got it.

Saul asked to not lose his kingdom and power; david asked not to lose the lord's favor. A man after the lord's heart. The story is to teach us not to fall into adultery and lies.
Also In Leviticus God says "if a man lay with a man like he lay with a women he shall be put to death and his blood is on his own hands "

That was like listening to children talk about their fathers job.

The Old Testament is based on the Jewish Torah and was written in Hebrew. So no it doesn’t all point to Christ.
What is left out is what the Lord did to punish David for this evil act. Part of the greater story here in my opinion is. No matter how important to God plan you are or are not, we all fall short of what it takes to get into Heaven.

“ I read the Bible when I was 8 years old, cover to cover, you’re not gonna believe how much it gets wrong."

She didn't say that most of this stuff is wrong
I was a self proclaimed Bible Scholar at birth. The best story was let there be light. God opened the door with life and light.
Create in me a clean heart ,oh god , and renew a right spirit within me .....
Psalm 51 David's prayer. ❤❤❤
So what is the message?

They always are in shock & dismay over It condoning slavery (BONDSERVANTS paying a debt owed to people with their service & were freed after 7 years unless they chose to stay as a beloved part of that family) leaving out how God disapproves of harsh evil American slavery.
Don't forget the Jubilee every 50 years....
First story sounds like Sodom and Gomorrah

A common trend with people who simply scratch the surface of the Bible. Many are so prideful that they truly believe that they're going to find something over two thousand years of scholars have not known about already. So instead of asking: "What did these people know that I do not know?" They say: "I know what these people do not know." They have their reward.

The Bible can be rough because it has a lot of beautiful things to say but also stories that are not for the faint of heart. What if it was beer? Whiskey? How about wine? Is wine better, since the Bible discusses wine more often, or do you associate religion with "lack of alcohol"?
