So pleased I found your video, I had booked a firm to replace my handles but I found your video and did it myself. Thank you so much for such clear instructions and saving me money!
Thanks mate! fixed the bathroom window. Handle had broken off, leaving a gap in the frame. Missus was giving me a right ear bashing about the cold draught last night ;-)
I have been wanting to change the handles on my windows for ages. Looks pretty straight forward. Going to give it a go......although I'm not good at sawing straight
Thanks for idea of penknife to get that wretched cap off, that cap has been stopping me changing the handles! Very surprised you have so few 'likes,' you deserve more :) UPDATE; Whoopee doo, now used the penknife, and it was easy! Now I can get some brass handles to match the rest of the house! Thank you so much for your help!
Thank you so much!!! Our new house has more broken window handles than working ones! Thought it was going to cost us a fortune to get someone to sort them. Think even I might manage this myself though!!! Great video.
For us, the lock mechanisms keep breaking such that you can't turn the handle and thus can't get to the second screw. One of the guys who came out showed me that there's a thin bit of metal that connects the push button to the mechanism that allows the handle to open and that this tends to get twisted with use and stops working.
are their handles on the market where the screw caps are factory-sealed meaning the whole window needs replaced? Because what appear to be the caps on mine just refuse to come off - -can't even get a stanley in under them.
Hi, our window handle needs replacing but it’s stiff and we can’t pull the handle out to the left to get to the bottom screw, is there any other way to get round it? Thanks in advance 🙂
Just fitted a new window, handle type is universal( turns both ways). I have screwed the handle to the window vent which is a top opener, but it will only turn one way with the handle facing inward but they need to face outward which is towards the reveal. I have tried the other handles but nothing works. Any ideas?
If you have lost the key and it is locked you need to get a small flat head screwdriver and break the lock mechanism first. I feel you have missed a step
My handle wont lock or open when i put the handle on ... Just no movement of the inner device. The handle works opening and closing but the windows just stays the same. Any ideas?
For some reason I can't get my screws out. I've undone them probably 90 % but can't get them completely out. Help!! They seem to be held by a nut or something at the back, I can't see what it is.
@@GeekStreet why do you need to use the key the lock works fine when the handle is down i have the same window and i lost the key and the lock works fine when the handle is vertically straight

Good for you, I did exactly the same, 35 quid to buy both and free to install thanks to this vid,, I got a quote for £120, what a con.
Just fixed my window lock after left over for couple years. Your video helped me to sorted it myself. Thank you ❤

Ok jessica, calm down, we get the point
Thanks, penknife finally helped, I started thinking I wouldn't be able to remove it :)

👌
Very helpful thank you. Much easier job than first assumed. Done it in 3 mins!
👌
Excellent video, very well explained (and a steady camera, unlike many others). Thanks
Thank you so much!
There's someone at your door
Thank you so much for your video so appreciated. Have a wonderful weekend. This video is amazing 👏
Good to hear it helped!
Thank you sir.
Had to saw mine down too
Thanks for the video. I've removed the 2 screws but my handle won't come away from the window?
great job, next time just swap the spindle instead of wasting time cutting a new one.
Read my mind
So! Thanks mate!
Thanks a lot ! we tried your way and in no time our window was fixed. Great help !

You just saved my summer!!
How to do get it untwisted??
I have this problem as well. Did you find a solution?
@@fergman3690 We just bought replacement handles - they're not that expensive - and fitted them ourselves.
@@hyksos74 Did you saw them off then? The issue being you can't expose the 2nd screw to remove.
I have done my doors know on the window s this is amazing I rely injoyed doing my doors
Thank you, worked a treat and didn't have to call anyone out.. Brill.
Thankyou! Very useful
Brilliant exactly what I needed, do you have a vid on replacing a lock on a uPVC patio doors?
Thanks check this out

Thanks man 👍
piece of basically. Cheers for making this mate, will get it done
Thank you for this video 🙏🏻
If you used the shorter handle would it still work ?
Thank you for this video, it really helped.
You're welcome!
If the handle itself is loose, how can it be tightened? Many thanks :)

Good video cheers mate.
I'm struggling to remove the cap that covers the top screw. Are there any tips on how to remove this?
Thanks very much 😊
Thanks

Thanks for the comment and info.
Delivery guy is at your door btw.
Great job.
All ready for the wife to break again! 👍
🤣
Very useful and clear - thank you. Just a bit more explanation about sawing that long bit would have been great but otherwise thanks!
Just buy a handle that comes with about 4 different lengths of the long bit. Choose the one that matches your old one.
Thanks a lot.Deja vu door bell:)
How do you get the cover off
The Handel doesn't move at all! I can't remove the screw،
How many of us checked if someone was at the door?
Who was at your door? Asking for a friend 😅
😅
My handle wont lock or open when i put the handle on ... Just no movement of the inner device. The handle works opening and closing but the windows just stays the same. Any ideas?
Someones at the door!
And they're a bit persistent lol
Did exactly the same same thing but window doesnt close any direction i turn the handle
Cant you just swop the brass bar over like on ordinary door handles...
yes but you need a brain to work that out sadly the bloke in the video lacked one.
I can’t get at the second screw because the handle won’t open. The key button pushes in but it doesn’t allow me to turn the key. What do I do??? 😩
Look at video how to open with out key
For some reason I can't get my screws out. I've undone them probably 90 % but can't get them completely out. Help!! They seem to be held by a nut or something at the back, I can't see what it is.
Maybe get some pliers, grab hold pull and twist.
What if u dont have a saw
Thanks, are the screw holes always the same distance apart?
I'm not entirely sure, i'm guessing yes...i measured and checked the schematic on the website selling.
@@GeekStreet Okay thanks
Window screw
The handle would not move to unscrew it
Is somone going to answer that door?
Just take the locking bolt out the old one
Dude answer the door 😆
They look like the cheap Anglian Windows locks I've got, I've had them back 3 times to replace, they've all failed in the same way that one has..
They are not by Anglian Windows but all these complaines seem to buy the same cheap Window locks, even the one I brought seems cheap.
@@GeekStreet - I’m going to replace them myself with decent quality. Cheers mate.
@@davidsmith2356 let me know which one you buy and if its any good. I've brought 2 different ones and they both feel cheap.

Lots of people say bRought instead of bought. Is is auto spell that does it?
No good if can't open at all 🙁
Always leave the cap off
Fuck sake, answer the door first
best way is to change the german windows, i hate the stupid british windows
