Thanks. Did mine at the weekend with my son . He's an apprentice panel beater so is learning lots at work but I watched this just to prepare myself.( started doing some bits on my 20 year old mini but never really done much on cars before )
Just wanted to make sure my car wasn’t crazy, some guy told me I needed special tools for my break. Thanks for the very helpful video. Have a great day
ik its been 8 months since you made this comment, but some calipers do need special tools too press the caliper piston in but there is ways even with them to get it done without the special tool. on my 2004 pontiac grand prix the rear calipers you have to twist as you press the piston in.
Got the 08 PT Cruiser engine mount and torque struts changed. Now, we'll go ahead and take care of our 14 Ford Focus brake pads and rotors now. Should be less intensive than the engine mount replacement! That was a job! Thank you for excellent video and tutorial, sir.
Getting pads today and going to try replacing them this weekend. Thanks for making a great video. It'll be my first time replacing pads but im confident after watching! 💪
a superb video with clear, concise instructions........thank you very much.have you done one showing the replacement of rear pads on same motor?once again...brilliant!
Thanks a bunch, this video was probably made in 2019 or 2020 so I want to say the price of pads sure went up, well, the price of everything really. After taxes my pads were $70 CDN or about $50 US. There were some cheaper options for maybe $50 CDN tho. Changing the pads on my 2015 SE station wagon and figured I ought to refresh my memory on the process. This video was just the ticket. Not much different from when I did this on my 2002 Focus. Except the price of course.
You are correct about the prices . Used to be 30 dollar pads and now paying close to 60 . Just experienced this myself. Thank you very much for the feedback.
It is possible for air to get in through an old caliper. I would bleed the brakes from the calipers that were reset and that should solve the issue. If it still feels soft the master cylinder would be the suspect. You do not want to press the pedal more than half way when bleeding out the air. Hope this helps.
Yes. Definitely make absolutely sure the brakes are pumped and firm before moving the vehicle. Also make sure the brake fluid as at the proper level. Great question and thank you for watching.
Yeah I think mine are good . nowhere as thin as yours . But pads looks more thicker towards the outer part .. Though I've never done one with ABS . Any different ?
They still have some life left but it may be something you want to replace before long just to be safe. I would not want them getting down to 1/8. Also sometimes the pads wear uneven so some may be less than others. The rear drums I focus on after the front, most of the time they last way longer . The front take on most of the work . Great question and thank you for watching.
@@s33therfan hanks will buy them soon . I saw you get ceramic ..? Some are metallic and semi metallic and then there's ceramic ? They all last do the same thing ?
Great job of taking your time with clear and precise instructions!! 👍🏻
Thank you very much.

I did everything just like you but when I went for a test drive my new breaks didn’t work, the break pedal feels soft

I have 3mm left on my discs how soon should I replace them?
I would change them asap. Also the wear is most times not very even so it may be less in certain areas. Thanks for the feedback.
@@s33therfan thanks i have it scheduled for next monday. hopefully i dont ruin anything between now and then
What is the name of that cable that's connected into the whole part for the tire?

Great work👍👏thank u

When putting everything back on do I have to pump the breaks with the car or what

No, they will be the same procedure. Thank you very much for watching.
@@s33therfan can drum brakes be converted to disc ? I never heard of it but..
@@frankmontez6853yes they can but to be honest you most likely got to get a whole axle/rear end
Thanks
Thank you for watching
How thin can disc pads get ? Mine are about 1/4 in thickness left. Front ones are disc the rear are drum .

I always use ceramic , just a preference. In theory the softer the pad the less the rotor wears . Thanks again.
Jesus christ im having a really hard time returning the spring in the proper position
My bults on the top and bottom the back ones are so hard to get off
Sometimes turning the wheel one way or the other helps get better access. Thanks for the feedback.
