- Check out my front row and back row POVs of the awesome little Blue Streak wooden coaster at Conneaut Lake Park, located at Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, USA 💕
This wonderful old wooden coaster opened in 1938! It doesn't look like it's in the best shape, but it rides like an absolute dream! 😍
This is one special coaster, I live about an hour an a half from it in Pittsburgh PA, ( close to other classic parks ), it might be old and primitive, but its super aggressive layout means it can hang with modern woodies
Yeah I absolutely loved it! When planning my road trips I always make a point of never just driving past anything interesting, and I'm so glad I stopped here! Got loads of rides on Blue Streak, and wristbands at $10 is an absolute bargain as well!
They’ve done repairs to the tunnel since I rode it! No gaping holes through rotting plywood.
Had a great time on this, but no coaster I’ve ever ridden felt as if it were in more danger of imminent collapse.
😆😆😆
I get that! It's just an illusion though, our brains are uses to rails each side, so with it missing, it looks like its falling down 😆 and the peeling paintwork doesn't help!
But it's awesome fun! And they've done a lot more retracking in the winter just gone!
Diary of a RollerCoaster Girl Oh, it wasn’t just a visual illusion. When I rode it, the structure swayed wildly as the coaster passed through, the train hit massive potholes in the valleys and it frequently left the tracks at the peaks (I’m not talking about rider airtime; I mean the train leaving the tracks and clanging back down), and the train often wildly shimmy-jostled from side to side, with different cars heading in different directions in a serpentine fashion. Add to that a cacophony of noises throughout that coasters don’t normally make, and visibly crumbling wood and paint everywhere, and you’ve got a ride that feels as if it could give out at any second! 😂
Maybe you got a coaster that had had a lot of work done on it since I rode it in 2018?
Possibly! I hadn't really followed its history before I went. It certainly didn't look like it had any work done it though. I was just enjoying myself 😆
Diary of a RollerCoaster Girl Oh, I loved it! But for me it was more of a “this is absolutely crazy!” love rather than a “what a great ride!” love.
@@StamfordBridge The coaster is perfectly safe, it's not rotting and crumbling. There is plenty of new wood on it and work was completed as recently as lat 2019; the park didn't open in 2020 due to Covid and then it was sold and the new owner hasn't opened it. Sadly we may not ever get the chance to ride it again since the focus of the park currently is kiddie rides and the water park. Let's hope we can all ride this great ride again!
It's so sad this is now gone forever. News of the fire broke my heart.
It was already being demolished before any fires 😢
Looks great
Do you think it’s possible going here and Waldameer in 1 day?
Yeah defo, as that's why I did 😆
I actually did Memphis Kiddie Park, Conneaut Lake Park and Waldameer in one day! And I didn't just do a "cred run" either, Memphis was quick coz that place was tiny, but Conneaut Lake I had a good few rides on Blue Streak and then tried out a few of the other rides and had some dinner 😆, then got to Waldameer about 3pm where it was open until 9pm! So I had plenty of time there too!
Agreed - definitely possible. But plan carefully: Conneaut is only open two or three days a week.
That looks rough as balls but so much fun!!
It honestly wasn't very rough at all!
So incredibly heartbroken that it's story ended like it did. It should have never happened this way. Todd Joseph is a horrible person.
