      Yes, of course, you can use pretty much any kind of wood. 🙃👍 Unfortunately, I don't know where you can still get the wood. A few years ago I found it as a sample set on ebay. At the moment I can't find the set anywhere either. 🙂🖐

    • @thosa
      @thosa  5 років тому +1

      hello and thank you very much. 😀🖐 I am glad that you like my work so much.
      But don't you want to incorporate some of your own creativity instead of copying the 1 to 1? 🙃😉 So I just took wood samples from eBay. These were patterns for wall coverings that come in 3 different thicknesses. I think they were 2, 4 and 6mm thick. I had taken maple and oak tobacco. Unfortunately I can't find them anymore. Otherwise I would have linked them to you.
      But you can also use any other wood. Then you need the usual 2 components epoxy glue and 6x1mm neodymium magnets.
      You can find the magnets here: amazon.de/shop/thosa under expendable materials. 😀🖐

      bei meinen Videos gehts nicht immer nur um das da gezeigte.. Manches ist auch recht übertrieben und sehr aufwendig.. Ich möchte manchmal auch nur zeigen was geht, und wie man was machen kann um Ideen oder Anregungen zu transportieren.. Weist was ich meine? also vorher hatte ich auch keinen Plan wie man so ein Inlay recht simpel machen könnte, bis ich es dann irgendwo mal gesehen habe.. Diese Idee hab ich dann mit diesem USB Stick aufgegriffen... In der gleichen Technik könnte jemand anderes jetzt inspiriert werden und zB n Schneidebrett bauen...

      thank you 😀🖐 no... there is no Way for damaging Flash Drives with normal Magnets.. I have a very big and stron Magnet attachet to my SmartPhone to hold the Phone on any Metal Surface... And that Magnet has a few Kilogram Holding Force... Phone and all Data works perfect since many Years.... 😀🖐

      Solid state storage does not use magnets to store data. Has no affect.

      Magnets affect Hard disk drives only, not Solid state drives.

      vielen Dank 😀🖐 Soo viel Talent ist da gar nicht von Nöten.. Wenn du dir so ein Projekt im Ganzen anschaust, dann kann einen das schnell erschlagen und sehr groß vorkommen. Teil dir so ein Projekt in viele, kleine, einfache Abschnitte ein. Konzentriere dich dann jeweils nur auf den aktuellen Abschnitt und wie du diesen am Besten hin bekommst.. So arbeitest du dich Schritt für Schritt durch das Projekt.. und auf einmal bist du damit durch und hast es fertig... 😀👍 Und dann kommt der Aha - Effekt und dass das überhaupt kein Hexenwerk war. 😉🖐

    wouldnt a magnet and a flash drive kinda not play together well? im being serious i honestly am asking

    • @thosa
      @thosa  6 років тому

      Hi, an usb-memory and also hard disks are insensitive to magnets. The claim that magnets can erase data dates back to the time of floppy disks. Modern flash memories are not affected by magnets. The only problem can be if the electronics of the USB memory and hard drives are in a changing magnetic field. Then a voltage could be induced similar to a transformer. But then a completely different size of magnet would have to be at work.

    • @thosa
      @thosa  6 років тому

      well... Im into electronic development.. and never heard of a case like that... but anyways... then dont use a magnet for that...

      In this case, I didn't want it to be replaceable, but rather smaller. If you try to make something like this changeable, it will be bigger sized.

    Imagine that this job is done for 1 Gb usb stick....

    • @thosa
      @thosa  6 років тому +3

      Imagine the size of the stick doesn't matter... 🤔 Imagine it's not about the stick, it's about the woodwork, the techniques... the how to... and you didn't understand it.... 😅 The videos are not about what I build, ... its more about how I build it... After the construction many things are disassembled and used again or is firewood afterwards.
