Maybe we should thank Mac Miller. The "Self Care" star bumped into one of the young singer's YT uploads and signed her to his REMember label - the kick-off to a career that's moved forward ever since. Whoosh, the Chicago novice was off to LA, making inroads with her instantly recognizable talent, and sharing her 2017 EP, 'Sad For You,' with the world. The Kosovo native always had a love of R&B-slanted pop, sometimes moody, sometimes buoyant. From 2020's "Bite" to last year's "Clown" she's had a wise way of riding beats - that voice is supple, and it leads you along as she snakes through the lyrics. Along the way, the power of her writing was recognized, as well. It's not everyone who helps Ariana Grande put together modern nuggets such as "7 Rings" and "Thank U, Next." Last spring's 'STAGES' album revealed that she'd sharpened her crafter, but she widened her sound as well. Cool dance remixes of "Emotional" showed up, taking a hot track to a hotter zone. When she hit our studio for runs through "Forget Me" and "Over You," the creative spirit was front and center. Time to get the whole picture of NJOMZA.
