- Matthew Perry has passed away a few days ago. I loved him, his talent, and also his story growing out and overcoming addiction. He had a good heart, and I'll always be a great admirer of his.
Today I am listening to the rare moments of him singing on the TV show Friends, which made him even more grand than you might think.
We singers, and singing students, can learn a lot from Mathew. Rest in peace.

True fact: Matthew Perry's biological father, John Bennett Perry was a singer turned actor. Miss Matthew so much.

Linor has a good heart. Most people are probably afraid to sing in front of a professional opera singer, but Linor brings so much generosity of spirit to her discussion of the singing.
The final duet by Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow is funny because at the end they do exactly what amateurs do when singing pop songs: they can't agree on what the correct key is.
Of course, in this role Mr. Perry was singing for comic effect, so probably the defects were quite intentional. The best example of this was Jean Stapleton, who hilariously sang these shrill, abrasive tunes as Edith Bunker in "All in the Family," though in real life she had a lovely singing voice.
I wish you would've reacted to the outtake of when the whole cast sings Smelly Cat in the coffee shop. That scene was pure GOLD. I really wished they would've kept it, but he was kind of breaking character, so I guess I understand. The first time I ever saw it though, I laughed so much and was really surprised!
He had a really lovely tone to his voice, a shame he never got to use it for more singing purposes.
There’s a really lovely bit of singing he did in his sitcom “Go On”. You’d probably be interested to watch the bit with him singing.

I have to admit I never found that song all that funny, but I did get a laugh out of watching Phoebe giving a singing lesson to Chrissie Hynde.
